This place is terrible. I worked with Stephanie & Wendy. When I first went in to talk to them, they told me I had a great resume and said there was plenty of work for me and they would find something for me «pretty quickly» (about 2 weeks). I received one email from Stephanie about a job. I was contacted on a Friday and told they wanted the employee to start on Monday. Umm, most people have to give a 2 week notice and I let her know that in our initial meeting. I had to turn it down because I wanted to leave my current place of employment on good terms. After that I emailed a few times and either got no response or a simple email back of «we’re working on it.» Now, the only emails I get are working UT football games. This place and staff are a disappointment. Spare yourself & go somewhere else.

I had a two month assignment with this service in 2012. I was a good assignment and I liked working there. Since then, I haven’t been able to get anything despite being very qualified. I have to initiate contact, but as others have said, the recruiters don’t respond.

Working with Burnett Specialists has been a successful, pleasant and professional experience. I am brand new to Austin and now employed with their assistance, Maggie particularly. I completely disagree with the negative reviews and even find them surprising. Landing a job is ultimately based on your own qualifications, education, fit and personality but this agency is excellent for facilitating the match and working quickly and efficiently. Horrible experience. Called Maggie Dunn and left her two different voicemails– about 2 weeks apart from each other. I had just been laid off and really needed a job. She blew me off COMPLETELY. Didn’t even call me back. I am very disappointed with Maggie and do not think that she needs to be the main person to contact there.

Oh my goodness. I only gave them a 1 because I had to give it some type of rating. Where is the President of this organization. They need to review that Austin office. First, rarely (if ever) does any call you or respond to your inquiries about jobs. Yes, it is one big black hole. I finally elbowed my way in to have a meeting. I got a 30 minute lecture about how overqualified I am and that they would never send me out on a job. I explained that I was new to town, open to anything. She again lectured me about being overqualified. The whole place is a sad state of affairs. People like this is part of what is wrong with our job market. Stay away from Burnett Staffing Specialists in Austin.

I have tried this staffing agency twice.
I applied to a permanent position in May and received a phone call within an hour. I was happy that they responded to my application so quickly. We then scheduled an in-​person interview. I had an interview with Angela C. She was really nice and made the position sound promising. Then I never heard from her again. I followed up by email twice. Nothing.
I saw another listing at the beginning of October and applied for a position. Again, received a call within an hour from Angela C. She made the position sound promising and like I’d be a great fit. That was on a Monday. She said she’d follow up with me by Friday. She did not. I sent follow up emails on that Friday and the following Monday. Nothing.
They are great at making first contact, getting you excited and giving you hope and then completely not following through with anything they say. Seriously, this place is such a let-​down.

I had a similar experience as Melody, who posted her review back in 2009. I have sent my vitae to Burnett Staffing on more than one occasion and have even followed up with phone calls. I was never summoned to the staffing office to follow through. The ladies at Burnett seem pleasant enough, but I get the feeling that there’s a lot of disorganization at this agency. I also have an impressive resume and would be easy to place, but after two attempts, it’s time to move on.

A friend of mine got a temp-​to-​hire job through Burnett in Houston and recommended me to their office in Austin. My initial contact was Maggie and she was super fast at getting back to me and has always been awesome at keeping in touch. After applying and interviewing, Maggie and her team immediately offered me consistent temp work. I’ve been in touch with several ladies in the office and they’ve all been incredibly helpful and on the same page, working to get me working! Burnett makes me feel like a valued member of their team and they always treat me with great care and consideration.

Burnett Staffing of Austin is a nightmare to deal with. The office manager is severely unprofessional and fairly judgmental, holding on to her initial opinion of someone with a death-​grip. She also happens to be the person that oversees all the technical contracts, and is completely impossible to get ahold of (takes her upwards of 2 months to return emails, if ever, and she NEVER returns phone calls). Since she would not ‘allow me to deal with her’ (because she didn’t like my shoes… seriously), I had to do basic account /​under paying data entry jobs.
I repeatedly have to check in with them upwards of two to three times a week just to land a position, and have to do this by phone because they literally never acknowledge or return emails. All in all they have scored me a short job here or there, but I am relegated to $ 10/​hour gigs while I have 10+ years of high level experience in the computer support field making more than double that. Top all of this off with them trying to deny my unemployment claim after a contract was cut short. I had to help TWC fight the claim (and they finally approve it for me) as Burnett’s manager was claiming the whole time I never checked in with them after my contract ended (despite sending email AND using their website to notify them… TWICE).
All told dealing with Burnett is a horrible experience. Do NOT put your trust in their finding you a position somewhere.

I just moved to Austin and signed up with temp agencies to find fast work. In order to be eligible for direct hire Burnett requires you contact one of their «professionals» to schedule an interview. I attempted to, both through phone and email — and then through that email my account was hacked and spam sent out to every one on my mailing list. Oh, and my calls were never returned. Thanks for useless and shady, Burnett Staffing!

HORRIBLE! I would never use their service again. I was under the impression that the company they place me with would just be me and not a call center (sort of) and I immediately expressed how unhappy I was with it for months. I refused to quit unless I had something else to back me up and with the job market being that it is of course I didn’t find anything. They would promise me empty promises that they were «searching» for me, etc. All B/​S. Then when I got laid off they had no «record» of me checking in after my lay off which in turned I never got my unemployment. That place and staff doesn’t care about their «employees’ they are there to make their quotas and money. One staffing agent told me it’s all about the numbers for most of their placements. When I find my dream job, I made sure to call them and tell them I will NEVER use their services again and never refer anyone to them.

The dreaded job search… we have all been there and it’s beyond goo-​ish words.
I have never used a staffing company before for reasons that only made sense in my head… I thought the jobs would be basic and boring, still shots taken from The Office… even though I would love to work in an office with Jim Halpert, I heart Jim Halpert. But seriously, who wants to work for some lame company selling bland products. Please take no offense if you do so, this is a total generalization and I am digressing from my point!
I was fortunate enough to be contacted by the great people of Burnett Staffing. I was contacted by the ever so upbeat Direct Hire Consultant, Angela M. Every single time I spoke with her, she was so energetic and real with me. I felt like she was my new best friend who had the inside scoop and was doing everything she could to get me a job. She kept in contact with me about everything… how the interviews went, what the companies were saying about me, where in the decision making process the companies were, so on and so forth. You know how when you go on an interview and don’t hear anything for a few days… well these people call and pester them for you! It’s great! I even received updates after hours, Angela M was on her way out of town for her own engagement party and she was calling me from her car… that is what I call committed!
In my situation, it even came down to two positions I was really interested in and Angela at Burnett did my dirty work and found out who was really serious and ready to make a move and now I have a new job.
The people at Burnett seem really genuine about helping you find a job. I know that is how they make their dollars and that is their job but these people seem to go above and beyond… and they care!
