When you are going to spend thousands of dollars on an AC or HVAC you want peace of mind. I interviewed 4 local Austin AC companies before choosing Climate Mechanical. Right after Mike came over to give me a quote I was sold. He was knowledgeable, professional, honest, and his price was in-​line with the other quotes I had already received. On the day of install of my HVAC the men were punctual, friendly, and did good work. When a small issue came up they were quick to respond and fix the issue. The work was also done in the time I was quoted. Mike came at the end to do a walk though which I appreciated. I would highly recommend Climate if you are in the market for AC or HVAC.

Climate Mechanical were contracted to perform a service on two AC units as part of a home inspection for a house I purchased. According to the invoice the units were checked for correct operation, including checking filters and topping up coolant.
After closing it was very apparent that the AC system was not cooling as well as it should be. I removed the elctro-​static filters to find them filled with years of dirt and dust. The invoice shows that holes were drilled to fit a filter cover where no (paper) filters were fitted. I contracted another HVAC firm to come in and inspect and service the units. They added 2 lbs of coolant to one of the units. The result is that Climate Mechanical cost me $ 300 to fix something that the seller was prepared to pay for.
In conclusion, I would not hire this firm. The standard of work they performed was poor, at best.

Can’t go without your AC working properly in this heat! We noticed our unit wasn’t working properly and called for help. We spoke to the owner, Mike, who listened to our concerns and said he’d have one of his folks come take a look at it, however, after hearing what the issue was… he offered to simply walk us through how to fix it over the phone free of charge. He doesn’t even know us! Sure enough, with his guidance our unit returned to properly working and we saved a couple hundred dollars. I’m sure this isn’t the case for every situation but I appreciate a company who doesn’t simply rip you off for the heck of it just to pad their own pockets. This was selfless… and when we do need a mechanic to come out, Mike and his team have our business for sure!

Climate Mechanical charged me $ 235, did not fix the issue, created a new problem and did not return my phone calls when trying to dispute their work.
The problem was my AC unit shutting on and off constantly. After the diagnostic portion (a flat rate of $ 98), the tech completed work without discussing any costs. The additional work, labeled as «minor repair» was $ 137. He installed a bypass from the thermostat to the AC unit. The bypass spliced the high and low settings of the unit, causing the unit to run 24 hours a day and chilling far below the set temperature. I contacted More Than AC, 512.690.2090, and they diagnosed the issue, corrected his work and solved the problem in under 10 min for $ 20.

Another bad experience. Total nightmare!!! If I could this Company it would be –0. The HVAC system that Climate installed froze up on 1÷07÷15, 2÷24÷15, 3÷03÷15 and 3÷5÷15. The coil and compressor had ice encasing the inside and outside unit. There was 3−6″ Icles running from the top of the machine to the bottom of the machine… all around on every side. 1÷7÷15 the Sevice manager Tom M replaced the circuit board as he thought it may be sticking.2/24/15 Climate sent a tech out. ²⁄₂₅₁₅ tech Travis replaced the sensor and defrost board once again.2/28/15. Outside unit encased in ice. Climate couldn’t come out till 2÷29÷15 Tech Tim came out and walked away. He was not familiar with the Coleman product. 2÷28÷15 Still heavy amounts of ice on unit. Called Climate 3÷2÷15 Spoke to Jessica. Climate send out tech Travis. He adjusted the pin pad from 1 – 2 as unit was not defrosting. 3÷5÷15 called Climate again for the same problem. They refused to send a tech out and said that this is perfectly normal for ice to build up. I explained that the ice was there for a day and hasn’t defrosted. I mentioned that maybe the unit wasn’t going in the defrost mode. Keep in mind I do have a 1 year parts and labor warranty with them expiring in ⁸⁄₁₅. I would think that climate would of at least sent a tech out to make sure that there wasn’t an issue. I in turn fired an email to the owner Mike W explaining to him the issues and asking him to resolve this. I send the email 2 x to give him the benefit of the doubt. I asked him to call me so we could discuss further. He never answered my requests. He as the owner should of stepped in and made it right. I would really beware of a company that an owner doesn’t address the issues whatsoever. JMO
I had no choice but to call Coleman (York) Manufacturer. I send them all of my correspondence and explained in detail what was going on. They sent a tech to our house to go over the unit in detail. The tech finds that the evaporator valve (TXV) on the heat is bad. He then calls Coleman manufacturing and confirms. We have not had the unit freeze at all since.
A few days later I called Climate to get an owners manual as I was not given one. The manufacturer had told me to call as all Coleman HVAC systems that are bought from York comes a rather large zip lock packet filled with user guide, warranty, data from the Department of
Energy etc. I wanted this is as after the year warranty another Ac company may need to see the specs etc. Climate advised me to google it. When I told them that Coleman told me this info and that I thought this was unprofessional not to help me. Jessica replied that I was showing disrespect and said that their lawyer advised them to have no communication with me whatsoever. I replied back in an email that Climate must have dealing with me if it is Coleman related until my warranty expires.
Please understand that my intent is to have my new HVAC system running efficiently. I think I deserve that from a brand new unit with a warranty. It is aggravating when you hit a brick wall and a Company doesn’t want to honor their work. They mention their lawyer. I have not once had a lawyer call them. I assumed that this would be taken of. Apparently their techs are not knowledgeable. To me it was just parts changing as the unit was not fixed until I called Coleman (York).

I found this company very impressive and special. I am from California, but recently went to visit my grandma. Her AC was broken, and she was trying to find someone to come fix it. She had no idea how to handle these things, since my grandpa used to deal with all of this kind of stuff. I helped her do some research, and this was one of the companies we came across. I was skeptical that they would try to take advantage of her, but the guy who came was very kind and honest and explained everything to her very clearly. He fixed what was wrong, and everything began running perfectly. AND, it wasn’t nearly as expensive as we thought it would be! I am really pleased with the service and how they treated me and my grandmother. I would recommend this company to anyone who lives around Austin and I know my grandmother will be using them again!

What an incredible turn around. I was pretty much done with them but thankfully they kept calling me to make things right. Mike, the owner, directly contacted me and did nothing but apologize for the service I experienced. He really does care, even though his old sales guy didn’t. He offered to make things right and has more than compensated for the pains I’ve dealt with. He honestly had no idea and my case slipped through the cracks. I think they also had some turnover and are having to rectify old customers issues. This is why I supported local in the first place, cause you get to speak with owners and not corporate call lines that make you go in circles.
Definitely do business with them and if you need some more assistance, call Mike directly. He’ll be happy to make sure you’re happy.

The tech they sent out and charged me almost $ 100 for spent less than 30mins trying to detect the coolant leak. He determined it was present on the inside and outside coils. Then they said they would send out someone else, made it sound like it was someone more experienced who would do a more thorough inspection. Turns out it was a sales person who was determined to sell me an entirely new unit. My old unit is only 5 yrs old. AND he said I would qualify for an Austin Energy rebate on this new unit which is not true. The old unit being replaced has to be at least 10 yrs. old. So I got two more opinions from 2 other companies, both spent more than an hour inspecting the unit and both found only one coil leak. I was able to get it fixed for a quarter of what Climate Mechanical was going to charge me for a new unit or 2 new coils, which I did not need. Not happy with them. Very focused on selling not finding and fixing the real issue.

Wow, these guys are awesome! I have used them for years and have been impressed with their service each time I have called. My AC went out this weekend, and I thought it would be a problem getting someone out quickly late on a Sunday evening. Thankfully, it was not. My call was returned promptly, and a service man came out faster than I thought possible. He was courteous and knowledgeable and diagnosed and fixed my problem quickly. I was very grateful because the thought of spending a night without AC in late July was terrifying. I can recommend these guys without reservation. Their service will not let you down.

I recently had Climate Mechanical out to fix my AC. They came out the same day and were unable to fix it because it was frozen up. Tom returned early the next morning after it thawed out and fixed it perfectly. He found a leak 3 other companies had missed.
Friendly service done well was much appreciated. I would highly recommend them to anyone with an AC problem.
