Courtyard Austin Downtown/Convention Center

Once again we stayed overnight at the Courtyard Austin Downtown and were greeted with a friendly smile and efficient check-​in. We told the Valet Parking that we would need the car in about 2 hours. They said it would be waiting for us and it was as they promised.
The rooms are spotless with adequate space.
I noticed late at night that I had misplaced the Valet Check stub. I went downstairs to the Valet personnel and told them the problem. After verifying my ID, the gave me a new stub and said they would find the car and place the new tags on the key ring and dash. The next day when I called to have the car waiting for us, it was with no hassle.
This is one of the best Courtyards we have stayed at in the country. The staff has no attitude that gives you the impression they are doing you a favor as can occur in many establishments. We will continue to frequent this Courtyard in the not too distant future.

Don’t valet. Been waiting 45 minutes, still don’t have my car.

Update. The staff took it upon themselves to waive the fee for the valet service. That was a nice touch. We didn’t ask them to but when we got the bill, the charge was waived.

Stayed here for a wedding this past weekend. Solid location near the downtown bars/​restaurants and extremely helpful staff. We received a complimentary upgrade upon checking in. I guess it helps to be with the maid of honor!
The staff at the front desk was unbelievably helpful. And so friendly and welcoming as well. Whether it was with the upgrade or assisting the wedding party with getting a last-​minute schedule change to everyone in the hotel, they went above and beyond to make sure we were happy.
They have a nice little market off the lobby where you can purchase snacks, wine, beer, or whatever else may come up. There is also a gym on location.
The lobby has plenty of seating and plugs for you to work or just relax and catch a phone charge. There are several TV’s on the wall of the lobby as well. That’s where I watched the Gators beat the Gamecocks. Go Gators!
Definitely recommend staying here for your next trip to Austin!

I had two experiences with this hotel. The first was organizing a block for the guests of my sister’s wedding. The second was as their guest.
I can’t express enough how helpful the ‘behind the scenes’ staff was. I was able to get a quote, set a rate and go back and forth (between three states I might add) with everyone involved in the planning process. Once we signed the agreement I was transferred to another associate who helped me with absolutely everything fun until the wedding date. We had people in several states that had a lot of questions and the Marriott staff was so helpful and accommodating. This was virtually stress free, and all done over the phone.
As a guest I was also impressed. We were coming and going from the hotel a lot for different wedding events, and at all hours. The front desk staff always greeted and seemed quite pleased to do so. There was even security during the late night hours that ensures those entering the hotel were in fact customers.
Our room was pristine! I was surprised to get a free upgrade, perhaps because I was the point of contact for the room block. My mother boasted of the towel animals that housekeeping left on her bed each day.
I was able to try out the fitness room. Although it’s small, it was well organized and had a variety of equipment. There were free towels available, and even cool wet towels too! The pool was next to the fitness center. It was quaint and indoors, but Austin is not a destination to stay in the hotel.
The evening manager and his staff were so amazing. We had a lot of family in Austin from all over the US and even Canada! We spent a lot of time in the spacious seating areas in the lobby. The manager was even pleased to notify all of our guests of a change in itinerary.
Hands down I recommend the Courtyard Marriott for a short stay, or even an event. We are so happy with our experience!

Great location for business or vacation. Walking distance from downtown and 6^th street locations. Quick car ride to SoCo. Terrific exercise facility.
Parking is a little pricey. If parking were more affordable I would add the 5^th star.

Very frustrating experience.
There’s limited on site parking for $ 27 or valet for $ 33, so we dropped my vehicle with the valet. The next morning we went to pick it up and it took literally 45 minutes to bring it around. But that’s not the frustrating part.
Shortly after leaving the hotel I noticed that there was damage to my vehicle. It appeared as though someone had scraped the rear quarter panel of my driver’s side against some sort of pole or another vehicle. There was a dent and paint scrapes and what ultimately amounted to $ 1400 worth of damage. I’m 100% confident this was the valet service.
The bottom line is that after persistent calls/​emails no one has been willing to help resolve the issue. Corporate points me to the hotel GM. The hotel GM points me to the valet. The valet says that I can’t prove that they did it and they won’t help me.
Completely frustrating experience on all fronts. Not the customer service I expect from Marriott. I won’t stay here again and hope that you won’t either.

Excellent location that’s literally just a couple of blocks in any direction to downtown’s attractions such as bars & clubs on 6^th St, Congress and the restaurants in the vicinity.
Very clean & well kept property, very courteous & professional service, spotless & modern rooms with views, excellent bar & other amenities.
Though it can be pretty expensive at times so book well in advance, but try to go on off peak time and get very reasonable rates.

Location for downtown is great, rooms clean and spacious, gym good for a hotel, but it’s not a «full service» hotel so does not offer any bonuses for reward members and no free breakfast.

Location is awesome. We stayed here for Fun Fun Fun Fest, we actually just walked everywhere. It’s down the street from pretty much everything, Rainey St, 6^th, and to auditorium shore.
We self parked in the parking lot they have available, take the elevator down and your there in less than 5 minutes, a lot faster and much less expensive than valet.
I actually picked up a great deal on a traveling website, but I will defiantly stay here again. The rooms are a good size, clean, comfy and we even had a view.

The location is everything! Stayed here from Friday to Sunday. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Room was clean and spacious. Again the location was perfect. We were able to walk around to most of the spots we wanted to visit. There are SOO many great places to eat and wonderful bars close by. It’s close to the East 6^th street, which is the lesser wilder side of 6^th street.
You can take the public bus from the airport and it will drop you really close to the hotel (a block away) and it only costs $ 1.75 for the ride.

This is a great location. Walking distance to lots of restaurants and bars. The hotel itself is average. Decent restaurant and the Starbucks is a nice touch. My only complaint is that they get my bill wrong every time I stay here. I have to spend time at check out getting it fixed.

I stay at a lot of Residence Inns and Courtyard Marriotts (these two are joined at this location), both in major and smaller cities. Marriott stamps Courtyards with the same look and feel and level of service. This Courtyard however stands out above any I’ve stayed at. There are a number of hotel staff on hand, lots of service readily available. I was able to print documents and then have a helpful staffperson scan them.
As a business traveler, I certainly appreciate a good breakfast before heading out to work. I’ve never had a business-​hotel breakfast equal to the one here. In fact, I can’t remember such good biscuits since my mother’s, truly. Such a nice way to start the day. There is also a real Starbucks inside.
The room and amenities there were normal, quite nice. The gym was quite large and the pool very nice, though I didn’t take a dip.
The Champions restaurant is not cheap, and I didn’t eat much there so I can’t judge the value. However, the local beer selection was amazing; it was very nice not to have to brave the inclement weather to find a selection of really great beers. Thanks, Live Oak Big Bark!
Parking is not cheap. I guess Austin has grown up into a real city now, so you’re paying to park downtown.

We had a quick stay here the night before flying out. It was convenient location, helpful front desk staff, and clean large rooms. Met expectations and no hiccups. For what it is, a business hotel for a night’s stay, they delivered on their promises.

Real nice hotel in a real nice area. Kinda pricey but you pay not to get a DWI. The only complaint I have is the walls a super thin you can hear everything next door and in the hall way, and all the traffic outside too. Other than that comfort all the way.

This hotel was great! The location is great for anything that might require your presence in Central Austin. It’s adjacent to the convention center, two blocks from the bustle of 6^th St., and it’s a short walk from most downtown businesses and attractions.
The restaurant has sports bar food and is great quality. There is a small grocery store two blocks away on 3^rd St. Being downtown, there are a ton of great eateries nearby. There is an underground parking garage dedicated for the hotel (6’8″ clearance, shallow graded entrance, ~$ 25 per night). The staff are all friendly and helpful, both at the front desk and outside. I didn’t use the gym or pool, but they looked great.
The lobby has a great big-​screen TV. There are charging ports for your phone in a waiting area. There are computers for use in the lobby. There are small tables for gathering near the sports bar that have a personal TV (~25″).
The rooms have no refrigerator/​minibar, but refrigerators are available by request. Engineering brought wine refrigerator, and they also were helpful with fixing the handicap bench in the roll in shower.
From the best I can tell, the regular price for a typical room is $ 250-​$ 300/​night. It’s expensive for my taste, but in line with other hotels downtown. If you get a cheap rate for this hotel, it’s well worth it!

My BFF and I did a getaway the weekend of June 20^th. Originally I was going to stay at some really fancy smancy hotel that would have cost me $ 700.00 for the weekend, but a buddy got me a great deal at his chain establishment so I was happy to save half my funds. Cool Beans!
The window view from our room sucked, but hey. we all can’t have the paradise view of downtown Austin; so I quickly got over that.
The service at this hotel is absolutely wonderful. I felt pampered from Friday at 1pm to my checkout at 11:30am on Sunday. The security feature of only being able to use the elevator with your guest card made me feel pretty safe. And the complimentary breakfast buffet at the restaurant next to the lobby (can’t remember the name) was beyond expectation. I didn’t have the urge/​need to eat again until late that afternoon.
My only complaint is the dangerous trek through the indoor pool area to the deck area; once the kids started splashing around. I had to take baby steps to make sure I didn’t bust my azz. I’m not a sue happy person; but I must say that it is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
Otherwise, I love this hotel. It’s convenient to all the party areas in DT Austin.

Genuinely friendly staff, super comfy beds, and frigid air-​conditioning make for a great stay at the Courtyard. The rooms aren’t necessarily special but they are smartly set up to accommodate business travelers. Free wifi is always nice as is a good cold refrigerator for you to put snacks in. (Walk over to 6^th and Congress to the CVS – don’t go to the Royal Market that they recommend. That place is overpriced).
There are computers in the lobby to surf on as well as printers for you to print boarding passes for free! Nice!
I felt very safe staying here as they do start checking everyone who enters the lobby after 9PM to see if they have a room key. No room key – no enter. And no matter what floor you are on, you need a key to work the elevator. Like it. :)
Location is great because you can walk to the capitol, the bars, and even down to Lady Bird lake easily. Would stay in again.

Two stars because I have stayed here before, and it is a nice hotel with a pretty great location if you are staying downtown.
My real gripe is with their group reservation system/​front desk.
You know, planning a wedding is stressful. Planning a wedding in October is even more stressful. It’s pretty much the nicest month in Austin to get married, and also happens to be ACL which as you know, is two weekends long now. Yay.
Bottom line: if you are looking for a hotel in downtown Austin to block out for your wedding, DO NOT go here. Believe me. Just, skip it. Go to another hotel.
My fiancé and I have a good amount of people coming from out of town and I knew that since our wedding is the second weekend of ACL I would need to block off rooms at a hotel early to avoid crazy high prices. I’m talking December 2013 for an October 2014 wedding.
Long story short, I look up hotels online and Marriott Courtyard is the lowest, not by a lot mind you, but it was $ 379 for the weekend (three days, $ 126 a night). Boom. Booked. Dunzo.
I get an email from the group reservation people (they are in Omaha… Nebraska) saying how someone from Marriott in Austin will be calling to confirm.
Ok, so, no one calls me. I call them about two weeks later and the people in Nebraska assure me someone from Austin will call me, but it might be a few days because this was during the holidays.
Again, no one calls. But I’m like, whatever, you know, everything’s fine I’m sure. I have faith in Marriott. I don’t know why, but I did.
Then my friend calls to make a reservation in early January, and (quite rudely she tells me) the front desk informs her she cannot make a reservation, that my block is listed as me paying for the whole thing and that I will be providing all the names of the guests (why would I do this? for a wedding? seriously?) and that, in fact, she needs to tell me to call them because they don’t have the names yet.
So, I call Marriott in Austin to get this straightened out, tell my story to the front desk, and he tells me he cannot help me. I have to call the people in Nebraska. Who previously told me that I had to wait for the people in Austin to call me.
I call the folks in Nebraska, and wait on hold for a while before finally just giving up and leave a voice mail. I also email the girl who originally told me the Austin folks were going to call me. After some phone tag, I finally get in touch with someone who informs me that it’s not $ 379 for the whole stay (apparently their online booking system is a little whack) — but is in fact $ 379 PER NIGHT.
«Well, you see miss, there’s a festival going on that weekend called Austin City Limits and so we raise our prices…»
NO SHIT. I LIVE HERE. Why do you think I booked it so far in advance?
«Yes, our online booking system is new and that’s something that Marriott needs to work out…»
Marriott honestly thought I was going to pay for a three night stay at $ 379 per night for 25 hotel rooms. If I had that kind of dough do you really think I would put up people in a Courtyard Marriott?
I ended up cancelling my reservation, obviously they did not care or apologize or feel any type of remorse for the added stress and wasted time in my life.
So, my advice to all you brides to be out there, go to the Holiday Inn on Town Lake. They’re cheaper. Nicer. And in the long run will probably cause you less grey hair.

Courtyards are the middle ground of the hotel universe. It aint no four seasons for sure but it aint the motel six either.
That being said this courtyard is really really good. The have a parking garage which you self park (tip…do not valet park it is a waste of time and money) and have in and out privileges.
They have a nice restaurant and bar inside. A nice starbucks inside. They have a gym.
Rooms are nice but nothing special. Beds were comfy and the flat screens were good with directv. They also have free wifi at about 10Mbps.
They have computers in the lobby to surf and dedicated computers to book into your flights.
Location is great as you can walk to the bars on 6^th street, the capital, and other places.
Price to value I would highly recommend.
