History

Established in 2008.

Dance Institute is «a gem, not a gym» tucked away at the corner of 2222 and Riverplace Blvd., just west of the Capital of Texas Highway /Loop 360. It began as a Ballroom studio for adults, a Ballet Academy for children and teens, and an Adult Fitness program. It expanded in Summer 2009 to include the now award-winning Dance Institute Performance Academy for bright and energetic young dancers to compete on state, regional and national levels, and expanded once again in early 2010 to include the Triple Threat Academy which grew and developed the singing, acting, and dancing talents of people of all ages. Dance Institute is also known for attracting some of the biggest dance talents and instructors in the world such as Edyta Sliwinska and Alec Mazo of ABC’s «Dancing with the Stars» and choreographer Sonya Tayeh of FOX’s «So You Think You Can Dance?»

Meet the Business Owner

Linda H.

Business Owner

Dance Institute founder and owner Linda Holland has studied ballet since the age of 4 under the tutelage of Francis Schofield in Harlingen, Texas. At 18 she began Harlingen Ballet Center, and later Harlingen Concert Ballet, Inc., a civic ballet company whose purpose was to expose ballet students in South Texas to full length classical ballets. Holland also performed and toured with Texas Ballet under Soili Arvola and Leo Ahonen.

In 2002, Holland began studying International Standard and Latin Ballroom where she competes in both styles. Linda and dance partner Denis Generalov, a native of Russia, are in the Top 5 in the B and C Pro-Am Ballroom Competitions in the Open Gold Standard Division.

Her passion for Ballet, Ballroom dance and fitness are the inspiration for Dance Institute, which she opened in May 2008, establishing it as a center for excellence in the performing arts and fitness.
