Worst experience ever. They «fixed» our fan motor on our fridge. It went out 3 – 4 months later. Part was under warranty, but they charged us a $ 96 trip charge to come out and tell us it failed, then another $ 300 in labor (hour or so) to replace it again. Some friggin’ warranty! NEVER use them.

I just joined Unilocal so that I could write a review to tell people NOT to use Depew Appliance.
Our dryer stopped working so we called Depew for a repair appointment. We have used Depew in the past and bought two other appliances from them and thought they were a good company. Had the repairman out and he replaced the thermal fuse, which cost us $ 196.46, which included 59.99 for the labor. We tried to use it after the repairman left and it would not work. So we called and he came out the next day. Found out then it was the control board, which would cost $ 253.48 for a new one. We discussed getting a price for a new dryer since this one was about 7 or 8 years old. The woman we talked to at Depew quoted us 899 for model 8750 (I think that was the model). Also talked to the repairman about getting getting money back on at least the labor of $ 59.99, since the fuse did not fix the problem. We decided to check prices and found a nice dryer (model 9500) at Best Buy for less– $ 749.99 plus free delivery and installation. Obviously, that was a better deal so we went with that. The repairman said he would talk to his manager, Mike last week but I on the money back. I just spoke with Mike a little while ago and he was short and rude. I reminded him we had been long time customers but he said that he would have worked with us had we bought from him. He wanted to get me off the phone but I insisted he at least listen to my explanation about what we were quoted from the woman and that was the best they could do on that model. Why would we pay a lot more to get $ 59.99 back? I know it was not up to the repairman and I do appreciate that he said he would try to help but we are totally soured on every having to deal with Depew again, due to Mike’s treatment of our situation. Bottom line — don’t used them for repairs!!!

I had a warranty issue on a dishwasher. First of all took them a month to come out, when the repair man looked at it he told my wife and I he was going to order a new part and they would get back to us. After we didn’t hear from them in 3 months i called and asked what the status was. The lady told me that the repair man said it was fixed and they don’t get paid for warranty’s so there not going to fix it. This is the most horrible customer service i have had.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

$ 160 for 4 minutes. That was the labor charge to fix my fridge. We were charged service and parts charges on top of that.
I called to ask the owner Mike why it was $ 450 to fix my one year old fridge and he was not helpful and said ‘I have to make a living.‘
Will not use this company again.

Worst service experience ever! Ask lots of questions before obligation yourself to a service call. I ain’t happy.

My wife has enjoyed buying appliances from them because they are a local business and they’re friendly. But buyer beware about hiring them to service your appliances. In our experience, repairmen have shown up on time (and called ahead to make sure we’re home), have always been friendly, and have been willingly to teach us a few things to help us maintain our appliances (i.e., pouring hot water down the drain inside the freezer so that the bottom of it (freezer) doesn’t accumulate ice and cause water to leak out of the bottom). But WOW! do they charge you for coming out to your home; there is a service charge ($ 85 to $ 89), a labor charge ($ 112 to $ 114), and if you have to buy a part, there is a charge, of course, for that. The last time a repairman paid us a visit – to replace a bake igniter on the upper oven of our double oven – the bill came to $ 312 (service charge, labor charge, and part charge). He was there almost exactly one hour on the dot. I was thinking the total charge would be around $ 200. Wrong!
Next time, I’m going to try to learn how to fix an appliance by myself using Youtube before calling anyone. I did that when I wanted to learn how to stop dishwasher powder residue from accumulating on our drinking glasses, and after I successfully did so (by learning how to disassemble various apparati in the dishwasher AND how to clean them out), I felt a tremendous sense of SATISFACTION AND EMPOWERMENT!
Overall take: Call Depew if you don’t have the time, equipment, or expertise to fix something, but know that you’re going to pay for a service charge, a labor charge, and quite possibly, a part (s) charge.

This is the second time I have bought refrigerator parts from them. They had the best price in town. It was fast and painless and the parts fit my refrigerator. I would recommend them.

If I could give them a zero star rating I would. THEY’RE HORRIBLE… STAY AWAY, VERY FAR AWAY! My mother purchased a wall unit air conditioner from them last month. The listing on their site said it was for either window or wall mount, so she called them to order it and they told her that they had that model in stock and would deliver and install it on Wednesday of that week (this was on Monday). They told her the price, added taxes and said that delivery, installation and hauling the old one off was an additional $ 159. She agreed to all, and when Wednesday came and went, no word from Depew, no new AC, she called them to ask what was going on. She was told by an extremely rude man on the phone that the AC was in fact a special order and would cost $ 76 more than she’d been told. She asked him why, if it was a special order, they said they had it in stock. He stammered around and finally agreed that it wasn’t, but told her they didn’t actually have it in stock so it would be a bit longer before it could be delivered. Another couple weeks pass, she has to call several times to check the status because they could never be bothered to contact her you see. Finally, it comes in and they schedule delivery. When the delivery people show up to install it they inform her that it will be an additional $ 300 over the $ 159 they’d quoted her to install it because the unit was a window unit, not a wall unit. She showed them the printout wherein the description showed it to be both window and wall. They argued some, but still charged her an additional $ 200 for some tiny bits of lumber that they went to the nearby Home Depot to buy so they could install it properly. It’s not her fault that the description of the unit was incorrect. That falls squarely on the monsters at Depew. So, the unit, taxes, delivery, install and haul away for a small wall unit AC have now totaled nearly $ 750. She personally went to see Mr. Depew at his store and all he kept saying to her as she told him her side of things was «I disagree» and «You’r wrong». He was rude, dismissive and arrogant. His staff lied repeatedly and they cheated a senior citizen on a fixed income by charging her double what they told her initially that the delivery, install and haul off was going to cost. She told them that she was going to report them to the BBB, write a bad Unilocal review, etc. and Mr. Depew’s response to her was, «Do your worst.». She was trying to «keep it local» by doing business with this company since they’re a locally owned and operated store. After having read through the majority of the reviews here it would seem, sadly, that her experience was the norm for this company. We will tell everyone who will listen, and certainly anyone who’s talking about buying new appliances, to stay as far away from this horrible company and its rude, arrogant, dismissive, cheating staff as is humanly possible.
Depew Appliances, you should be ashamed of yourselves for cheating a senior citizen on a fixed income the way you did, but I’m pretty certain you’re not.

Wow, I sure wish I had taken the time to read about Depew before scheduling an appointment with them. WE recently moved, and I called Depew to come install my dryer in the new place. It is gas, so a professional needed to do it. They came and changed me over $ 200 for the job, saying I needed a dryer vent too. I am not convinced I did, but whatever. It had been a few days since moving, so I had a lot of wash to do. As soon as they left, I did a load. When the dryer cycle was complete, I went to get the clothes only to find out nothing was dry and there was no heat to the dryer. We were leaving on a trip that weekend, so I tried one more time. No deal, so I hightailed it to the laundromat.
I tried some towels, I guess just hoping against hope, but nada. I called them today to have Depew come back out here and take a look. He said it would be $ 70 (or something) service call and then the repair charge on top of that. Seriously? Maybe they installed it wrong? Maybe they broke something while hooking the dryer up. I NEVER have had an ounce of trouble with the dryer, and now it is all but dead.
What a scam I am now out $ 229. I would mind the charge had they done their job. Stay away from the at ALL costs! Seriously there are a million better places to go. I was just in a hurry.

I surely do wish I had read the other reviews before calling Depew to buy a through-​the-​wall air conditioner. I talked to a very nice salesman named Jordan and bought the unit for an agreed upon amount, after he told me they had one in stock and it would be brought out the following Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning. A while later Jordan called back and said, oops, it was a «special order» now because they didn’t really have it in stock after all, and there would be a $ 75 shipping fee, and then said, oops, it was only $ 25, added to the sale along with the $ 159 to install and remove the old one. The following week on a Thursday the great installers came — they were truly nice gentlemen. They told me it would be an additional $ 300, after talking to the owner Mike Depew. I said they could just take it back, but again, Mike Depew said «oh no» as it was a special order. UGH! Here I am with a hole in the wall to the outside, rain on its way, and really didn’t want to have the side of the house redone with siding. I’m stuck!!!
The installers called Mike again and the price came down to only another $ 150. The installers left to buy the appropriate supplies to fill the gaps around the through-​the-​wall unit and the cut out in the wall. The installers did a great job and were so pleasant. Today, I went by Depew to talk to «Mike» and he never let me finish a sentence as he talked over me always saying, «I disagree» no matter what I was trying to explain. I asked him if he listened to the recorded conversation 2 times before he answered there is not recording, so, he was arguing instead of listening because he did not want to hear the truth. The non-​conversation ended badly with me saying something I shouldn’t have. I recommend that you never ever
shop there. I wanted to do business with a «Mom & Pop» place and these folks have been in business sine 1943, so I assumed they were quality — wrong assumption. Mike is exceptionally rude, hateful and doesn’t care what your opinion is, as he is always right about everything, not professional at all. Talk about scamming folks, and I’m a senior on a pension as well. The $ 600 I had allotted for this purchase, now has become $ 763. WOW!!!

What can I say other than Depew appliance and service is a joke and «a bunch of rip off scam artists» when it comes to customer disservice. We paid them a service fee for first visit of $ 89 to analyze problem and offer a solution after frig froze up, They said we had to order a part and set up another service call with them, Then pay up front for part and that’s how they got our credit card info. On the 2^nd service call they installed the part for a total of over $ 329 $ 120 in parts and $ 209 in labor. It froze up again within 3 weeks, I set up another follow up service call because the problem was not solved. So far $ 418 and still same problem.
The 3^rd visit while I listened in; Mr. Mike called a trouble shooter at the manufacturer who’s FIRST suggestion was that he check the gaskets around the door for a good seal and he saw that the door was out of alignment and there was a small gap at top of door. He spent 2 — 3 minutes while i watched and adjusted door turning 2 screws a couple rotations to align magnet strip and door edge so it would seal properly and you could see and feel how door worked now that this was the real reason for the compressor freezing up and over working. It was sooo obvious!!! Problem was fixed after that simple turn of a few screws. If they were truly honest and or professional they should have caught it the first time. I truly think they did spot it on the first visit but they «set the hook» and ran with it. The workman Mike then handed me another bill for $ 199 for something that should have been at no additional charge. I said i was going to call and dispute the charge with the manager /​owner and that we should not have to pay another $ 199. The owner did not or would not return my call. It gave him time to run the charge on our credit card that we gave them to buy the part with. What a scam and what scum bags! They turned a 1 time quick fix service visit into $ 617 for a simple door adjustment which is the true part of the scam. When I called back 3 days later and finally got to talk with the manager /​owner he was a total ass to me and extremely rude! He professed that «they had to make a living» and i was out of line for even calling to dispute the additional charge! He said he would check and call me back but he didn’t think he would credit our card anything. Like his word meant anything at this point, True to form he didn’t call back and We had to canceled the card. Never use this company; as the name suggests «Depew stinks» and the stench comes from the management /​owner. There are honest service companies out there but this is not one of them!

The lady in the front of the showroom was SO rude and unhelpful. I needed appliances in a few days and chose to postpone my project and go elsewhere. I would never buy anything from that place. They won’t even price match. Better service and prices are out there

My purchase of a new refrigerator went very well. The clearance price of the unit was very competitive. I can’t say enough about the friendly team of gentlemen who delivered the unit. They worked as a team to do the job right.
My house has quite a few angles, which they took the time to work out correctly before removing the appliance from the truck. They even removed my front door to ensure no scratches or dents on either my walls or the refrigerator. Once the refrigerator was up and running that front door was back on the hinges faster than a jack rabbit in hunting season.
All in all, I was treated with respect and everyone from start to finish were nice and polite. Take my advice and avoid the big box stores. Come here for your next new appliance.

Why so many bad reviews? Because this company is unprofessional and will try to rip you off — that’s why.
I bought a washing machine part and asked specifically if the part could be returned. I was told by the ‘parts guy’ that it could be, as long as it was within 30 days, I had the receipt and it was «uninstalled — because I will be able to tell if you install it».
As soon as I got home I realized that I got the wrong part and I called and explained that I would be returning it — «ok, no problem» was the reply.
When I went to take it back today, the parts guy wasn’t there but someone (who turned out to be the manager) told me that I couldn’t return it since it was an electrical part. I told him about my conversation with the parts guy and he said that he doesn’t know why he would say that but I could take it up with him when he got in that afternoon. I was confused as to why this guy couldn’t help me but he’s not a very good manager so he was obviously just passing the buck — which is the exact opposite of the job of a manager. I explained that I lived across town and that I couldn’t just come back in a few hours. He was unconcerned.
I told him that I would leave him and the store the appropriate review — Here it is.

Charge you $ 85 to come out and diagnose the problem which I agreed to although that’s outrageous too. When they get there they tell you the fix is $ 69. Call back and say it’s $ 500 + to REPLACE A BURNER KNOB SWITCH!
Really! $ 500 for the switch to turn on a burner. RUN, don’t walk away from these crooks! Read the reviews, vomit, then go somewhere else. On a scale of 1 to 1,000,000, 1 star is too high. Actually ZERO STARS IS TOO HIGH.

When our dishwasher sounded like a small animal was inside. I called Depew appliance to find out what to do. I texted them a picture of the model number and they knew exactly what the problem was. They had the parts in the house and quickly came over to fix our little issue. Their knowledge staff and the quick service will keep me calling and recommending them to anyone. Thanks Depew Appliance.

The lady at the front was talking on the phone about 50 shades of grey when i asked her where the part department was. Sort of rude, because i was the only one in the store. I would of understand if she was busy at work. She pointed to her right and kept chatting.
The parts department guy was nice and professional. A washer belt was kinda expensive, but the store was brad new. Definitely marked up 25%.
I’ll go back because i need another part but will let you all know whats the gossip of the day from that front desk clerk.

Another vote for not understanding the bad reviews here. I’ve used them for service only. our washer and our fridge and they were quick and reasonable. The first one they came out and the problem was not happening. Figures. I thought it was awesome that the second visit for the same issue I didn’t get an additional visit charge.

Buying from these guys is fine, but Lord, don’t call them for a repair. You’ll just have to call them back again. And again. Then you’ll wise up and call someone else.
Plus, Fischer Paykel appliances are overpriced and awful. We bought a fridge, washer and dryer, and the dryer only lasted two years. Prior to that I had a Sears that lasted 12 and is probably still running. The fridge has had numerous problems and the washer leaks. I would avoid FP like the plague.
