Drain & Air Rescue

Do not use this company if you live in Austin. They do not have a Burleson Road location. They closed it back in May without telling their Austin clients. The company was bought out and it is run out of San Antonio. Which by itself wouldn’t be bad but if you have a service agreement with them and live in Austin, they will only come out during the workweek and during the day. So if you have an emergency on the weekend or in the evening, they will refer you to another company even though you pay them the monthly fee. You will have to pay all the regular fees to the other company. Unless you want to be ripped off, I wouldn’t use this company.

Their techs came by to tune up our gas furnace. They were courteous and did a thorough job, and patiently answered all my husband’s questions, which we appreciate. Considering they did this on a Living Social coupon, it was really great value.

So this review is a little delayed from my install a couple years ago. I’m finally chilled out enough from being pissed off over an install where I received no city rebate for a high seer install and duct replacement to write an objective review. The install was overpriced, but it was mid-​summer so I can understand that. I did receive everything promised with the exception of new grilles on the ducts. Of course, I should give myself 2 stars for not knowing there were rebates, accepting the proposal, and not getting additional quotes, but it was like 110 and I was weak. The company gets 2 stars for a meh price, not providing the grills, and mostly for not knowing or caring about the rebates for clients.

Got my AC checked from these guys and same thing as their plumbing services… very professional. They were late and did not communicate this… hence docking them one star.

Used a LivingSocial deal to get a tuneup and maintenance for $ 30. Seemed like a deal to me. On the day of service, the person who came out seemed nice enough. He found what may had been a leak inside the unit inside of the house and gave me a quote for about $ 2300 to fix a coil. I told him I’d shop around for a second opinion.
Now here’s why it is one star — he cleaned and tuned up NOTHING. He looked over the unit and found a potential problem but didn’t clean the outside unit or fix anything small that would be included as «maintenance.» When I say the outside unit wasn’t cleaned — I mean the front was CLOGGED with debris. So I called them back to clean the unit, like they are supposed to.
They honored my request and someone else came out. He got a hose and sprayed it for a minute and was on his way. He never opened the unit to actually clean it, just a quick hose job. I called another company.
This new company actually OPENED my outside unit and showed me all of the junk that was still clogging the unit. He then inspected the inside and gave me a quote to fix the coil and CLEAN AND UPDATE the units with proper parts for $ 1850. Note — That is $ 450 LESS than Drain & Air Rescue and they did the work that Drain & Air Rescue should have done in the first place.
So in short, you get what you pay for. For a $ 30 deal, it’s not worth it. Look elsewhere.

Our air conditioner went over the weekend. Austin Air Rescue/​All Pro came out and were so nice and so professional. I really appreciated them. They spent hours making sure our new system worked perfectly and explained everything they were doing when I asked a million questions. Thanks, Joe from SA, Hilbert, and Lamont for being total professionals and for being courteous and for cleaning up, not only after themselves, but the dust and dirt left by our old unit.

This company installed a hot water heater for me and after a whole week of messing up they were finally able to get it right by weeks end. They gave me a discount and was happy with that but then found my water pressure in my kitchen was half of what it use to be they came out to fix the faucet and then messed up my facet handle after another week of them promising to fix it they gave me a new faucet and another refund.
The company was horrible at keeping in touch and leaves you waiting around for hours after they say they will be there.
There was no communication between employees the whole thing was so unorganized and some of the employees were very unprofessional. The only thing good was the fact that I was refunded. Will never do business with this company again!

DONT USE THEM!!! Terrible customer service. Bought the most expensive Lennox Air conditioner from them a couple of years ago. They promised a $ 1500 rebate which they failed to fill out and submit to Lennox in time and wanted to not give me the promised rebate due to their error. I had to fight with them and only received a portion. They promised other things such as complimentary a/​c servicing but doesn’t come through with anything. I would strongly urge you to consider other options. Technicians are always nice but the actual office lacks customer service and procedures.

Faught Service Company just finished cleaning up mess that resulted from my having annual service contract with Allpro Drain and Air Rescue for last several years. Outside unit had never been cleaned and main unit was missing p-​trap.
So happy to be with a company where service people are paid by the hour instead of by how much they can sell a customer. I would still be with Allpro if my a/​c unit hadn’t given out last week. Mark, Allpro’s service tech, came out and said my eight year old system was out of warranty. He quoted me a high price to repair and tried to sell me a new system. He was a little too eager to take that 10k out of my pocket though, so although they were «my» a/​c company and Texas summer was too close for comfort, I decided to get some additional bids.
Dan, the Faught salesperson, came out next day to quote me a new system, but took one look at my existing a/​c and said (contrary to what Mark had told me) that I was still under warranty. He said it would still cost me labor, which just made me smile inside.
I gave them the job and, at a fraction of the cost Allpro quoted, I am up and running again. I cancelled my annual contract with Drain and Air Rescue and signed up with Faught. Since they were already at my house replacing a part, to be extra safe, I had them repeat my semi annual maintenance service, even though Allpro had just done it a month ago. That’s when they found the general lack of upkeep. Sheesh.
I say again, I think it is the difference between having a tech who is paid by the hour and one who is paid to sell you stuff. This seems to be a truism for many industries. Small businesses in particular seem to be either service oriented and take care of you properly, like the owner Bonnie and her entire Faught Service organization did, or they try to make as much money off you as they can, which discourages true «service» and encourages the dishonesty and the generally poor service that I experienced with Allpro Drain and Air Rescue.

I used a Groupon coupon and didn’t know what to expect from this company. Fortunately, Manny was the technician that came out and he did a wonderful job. He was very detailed in showing me where my A/​C water problem originated. He also gave me advice on future maintenance for my unit. I highly recommend Manny and will ask for him for future service.

We recently called Drain and Air Rescue for service on our HVAC. Our technician was Nick Shelley. Nick worked tirelessly to correct our problem and restore heat to our home. I felt he genuinely cares about doing his job to completion, he is an asset to the company.

I really like the techs they have sent out over the past 3 years even though they have upsold me a lot of equipment. I knew some was needed and some was optional so no big deal. What has turned me off on these guys is that I just had my furnace serviced and bought a REME at a cost of $ 1,300 only to talk with my neighbor and find out that his service company filled out and gave him a rebate form for TX Gas Service to off-​set part of the cost of an annual service. When I called Air and Drain Rescue they were clueless that a rebate program even existed but promised to get the forms and fill them out on my behalf. When I called Matt back in two weeks he said he had the forms but had not been able to meet with my tech Josh to fill them out. Two weeks later and he still has not had time. These guys do decent work and are quick to bill but that is their real business. Customer service is non-​existent so they will never do work for me again.

I really don’t know what kind of work they do because they never made it to the house. I had called them for maintenance on our gas fireplace. I arranged for service to come between 1 – 3 on Tuesday. I took off work to meet them. On Tuesday, the office calls at 2:19 to tell me they are short staffed and will need to reschedule. (Really, they didn’t know until 2:19 that they were short staffed that day?) I return the call and reschedule for Thursday between 4:30 –6pm. My husband took off early to be home by 4:30. At 5:45 I called to see if they were still planning on coming. The gentleman who answered had no knowledge of the service call that was scheduled. Needless to say I told them I would find another company. Not my idea of stellar customer service. It’s obvious they do not need my business.

Nick was prompt & attentive to our ac needs. He gave great advice and replaced our thermostat and added freon quick and easily. Highly recommend this ac repair company!

I would like to recognize and thank Mr. Rudy Flores a superior technician with Drain + Air Rescue \Texas Allpro of Austin, Texas for his outstanding customer service on 12/​01/​2012. I appreciate his prompt response and professionalism that he demonstrated to restore heat to our home.
Our old home heating unit stopped working during a cold snap and he worked long hours trying to locate replacement parts to get us warmed up prior to the holidays.
Unfortunately, our system was too old and too many new parts were needed to restore it so he promptly provided us with several options to replace our original heating unit.
He stayed late and wrote up 3 quotes for us and provided knowledgeable answers to all of our questions with patience and professionalism. He promptly scheduled new installation the next day and returned afterwards to make sure everything was working properly. He also made some additional recommendations for surge protectors for each new unit and basic maintenance advice.
Thank you Rudy, for reducing the stress and delay of getting a new home heating unit when we needed it most. Also we thank you for providing us with healthy options for our ducts.

Surprised to see such negative reviews on here after having William (the technician) come out and see us yesterday. This company installed our water heater several years ago (maybe 4 – 5?) and we had no problems with them. We had to call them out yesterday, not because of a problem with our water heater, but because we are trying to sell our house and the inspector found some small issues that needed to be addressed. William was super knowledgable and reviewed the inspection report. Explained what was necessary vs what was just an opinion vs code, etc. He promptly gave me a quote and detailed on the quote for the buyers what is necessary vs not (it was not obvious on the inspection report). I’m sure we’ll use them to «fix» the outdated issues, and I don’t anticipate any problems.

This review is LONG overdue! I can’t speak for what the management is aware of but as for the techs, I honestly believe they are taking advantage of the lack of knowledge of the customers who trust them to do them right. My specific situation shows all they are about and here it is:
We had a prepaid service contract with them where they come and check the heating and AC systems out every so often and basically keep it tuned up, kinda a nice service to have so you can avoid problems that are easily fixed through preventative maintenance. Plus you get a discount for repairs. I was satisfied with what was happening until we had a problem.
The AC in our house went out and we already had the service agreement with them so we called them up. It turned out the evaporator had a leak and we needed a new one. This was in the middle of the very hot summer and we needed it done quickly so we wanted it fixed ASAP. That’s when we got hit with the news. Because our home was built in 2003, the freon (R22) was no longer used they said and a complete retrofit was needed… compressor, condenser, and all because the old compressor oil was not compatible with the new stuff (R410a) and we received an estimate for about $ 5,000 after the discount as per our service agreement. Based on what we were told, we believed this and agreed. We waited a couple of days and it was installed. We were happy and all was good until I found out they were untruthful to us… there is a freon that is compatible with the old system (made by DuPont) and would not require the changing of the whole thing. In fact, we didn’t need the upgrade at all because there are still places you can get R22… its four times more expensive then R410a but still much cheaper then a whole new system! Why this wasn’t told to me I don’t know. This one was live and learn but you won’t get me again.
Strike Two:
They came out shortly after the replacement to do the service checks as outlined in our agreement and told us we needed more work. I was very irritated because of the money we just spent and the things they told us, I felt, should have been handled. They said there was a duct leak in the attic near the Evaporator and that we needed a flood safety valve installed because ours was missing. This struck me and I checked our receipts and discovered we paid them the year prior to install this same valve. And the duct leak was at the evaporator that was just replaced. I called them out on this asking why they wanted to sell me something they installed last year and they could not answer so they said they would send another tech out. This tech stated that it was really a «secondary» flood safety valve that was not there and tried to tell my wife we needed to have it (funny how it was the exact same price as the previous one was). She didn’t trust them at this point and thanked him for his time. He then tried to bill her for the visit that they agreed was to be a no charge. I called the office and spoke to a man who called me a liar and said if I didn’t pay he would just bill the card on file and he hung up on me. I called back and the same man picked up, I told him I was heading over to speak with his manager at which point the lady I spoke with originally got on the phone and «took care» of the fee. It was after this I investigated further and found out about the AC system story.
Strike Three:
They came for the inspection of the heating system and I was out but they tried to tell my wife we needed a new furnace now that they would gladly install for the low, low price of about $ 2,265. They also told her the gas valve was leaking and needed replaced. She declined until she talked to me but they insisted this was important, she still declined and they left an estimate with her. When I got home and heard about this I went upstairs and checked it myself and found no gas leak, even took the leak detector up and still found no leak at all or anything wrong with the furnace system, aside from a worn inducer motor which ran about $ 175 – 200 (they quoted $ 630 installed).
Take what you want from my experiences but I most definitely do not recommend this place.

While the repairman was friendly, professional, and knowledgable, he charged me $ 288 for a standard $ 20 furnace ignitor. This does not include the $ 69 service call charge. So overall it was $ 357.00 to replace a $ 20 part which took all of 15 minutes to diagnose and replace. I’m not saying they should not make a profit on the part, or that they should not charge for their time, but I’m sorry, a 1,340% markup on a part is simply price gouging.
There are better, more honest companies out there. Use Unilocal to find one. I wish I had done so myself!

Joshua was the technician that came out and did a wonderful job on fixing the issue. He was very detailed on showing me where the problems were and gave advice on how to prevent it from happening again. The installation was pretty quick which is ALWAYS a plus. I also loved that he had little slip ons for his shoes so my carpet would not get dirty. =)
I highly recommend the company and would go back to them for future service. Thanks for fixing the problem and I’m no longer roasting like a pig this summer. =)

I called Drain and Rescue because their TV commercials made it seem they do a lot of important diagnostics on AC duct work and such. I called to make an appointment and asked the guy who answered the phone «do you do service in Bastrop» He had to ask someone, I guess he didn’t know where Bastrop is. He then came back and asked me the zip code, which I gave him. He then quickly told me «no, we don’t go out that far» Really? Pflugerville is the EXACT same distance to my home in Bastrop (they are in SE Austin).You might want to re-​think this one guys. And please, don’t be so arrogant on the phone. Also you might want to familiarize yourself with Bastrop and Bastrop county. Lots of homes and businesses and business opportunities out there, 20 minutes east of ABIA. The friendly attitude you see on the commercials is not what you get in person from my experience.
8−12−13 UPDATE:
They have updated their location policy and we had them come out on an Angies list or Groupon service discount. The guy who came out was Jeff. He was very knowledgeable with our complicated AC system and checked everything out. Very professional. Glad they have expanded their service area, we’ll use them again.
