* I was born in Edinburg, Texas to the late Dr. Thomas Esparza, Sr. and Esther LaMadrid Esparza. Without their guidance growing up, I would never have accomplished what I have. They taught me that I could learn and do anything I put my mind to.
* I graduated Texas A&M (1974) and the U. T Law School (1977). After law school, I tried to save the world working at a Legal Aid. After ten months I gave up saving the world and returned to Austin. My law school loan officer convinced me that South Austin needed me.

* I am a former high school teacher, Travis County Justice of the Peace and President of the Capital Area Mexican-American Lawyers, Chair of the Becker School Community. 1986 Community Education Volunteer of the Year. I continue to be active in the community with fund raising for girls sports, ISNA and the Literacy Coalition. That was me as Nacho Libre at the Coalition’s Spelling Bee. I choked on «priviledge.»
