Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar

This is a great steak place.
Service, food quality and price are balanced. The bread and special flavored butters are amazing.
Wine list is extensive.

Pretty good steakhouse; can’t compete with Vince Young just a couple blocks away, but overall a very good spot.
Our whole group enjoyed their food, the service was friendly and helpful.

The food was amazing the service is complimentary and their lava cake is a little late to die for. My wife and I went there for our anniversary and we had nothing but good times the managers and waiters were very respectful and helpful and they always had good conversations while we waited for our food I would recommend this place for any person that’s trying to have a good and wholesome and delightful experience in a restaurant.

What a delicious meal! We were staying at a hotel downtown and wanted a good steak close by. We called to make a reservation and were told to come right over any time we wanted, but they put us in just to be safe. We arrived and were seated immediately.
Great ambiance to this place. It’s not over powering like some steakhouses can be and it’s super classy. They have quite an extensive wine list and chill their wine as well giving it a little something extra. Our server quickly brought our drinks then told us of the specials, all of which sounded delicious. I had the petite filet mignon, 8 oz. cooked medium and added 3 shrimp, which topped the steak and were in a delicious chipotle butter. My mom had the fish that was on the special, Grouper topped with fresh crab meat. This was the most decadent, fresh fish I have ever tasted. Such a light flavor with big taste. All of this was accompanied with the truffle mashed potatoes, which let me tell you would have been great just as a meal with the bread and wine.
Great food, superb service, and excellent location. If you are staying in a hotel downtown and want a quality meal in a comfortable atmosphere without the loudness of a traditional steakhouse, treat yourself to perfection at Flemings.

I’m a vegetarian so a steakhouse is a foreign concept to me but I randomly saw this and pulled up the menu and found some actual lunch options. They had a protein savvy mediterranean salad and a cheese panini. Solid lunch! And nice staff.

Fleming’s has a lot of competition downtown. There are easily 6 or more steakhouses they are competing with. None of them are duds. Fleming’s is coming in lower on the list for me.
My wife and I went for dinner on a weeknight. The best part was the service. Our waiter was knowledgeable, friendly, and they were swift to tend to us.
The food was okay. The main thing we had was the seafood tower. It’s all cold crab, lobster, and shrimp. It was all okay, but didn’t seem to be quite as fresh as I would have expected from Fleming’s. Maybe it was overcooked before it was chilled?
I’m still giving them 4 stars because dinner overall and the experience was fine. For the coin you leave behind and the experience they’re trying to give you, it could have been better.

Meh… this place had good sides and the bubbles weren’t bad. My first glass of bubbles did come without bubbles, which I don’t prefer. Their steak is okay, but there are better steak places in town.

I had a pretty spectacular dinner here last night with my wife to celebrate our twelfth wedding anniversary. From the outset, the entire staff including the hostess, the waiters, and the floor manager were quick to give us their best wishes on the occasion. Shortly after being seated, a happy anniversary card was placed on our table which was a nice and unexpected touch.
The meal was remarkably well executed too. We ordered a bottle of red wine which was served in a decanter. Quickly after we sat down, they served us some warm bread accompanied with two different spreads. The spread made of smoked cheddar was outstanding and totally addictive. For an app, we tried their calamari which included some banana peppers and slices of red bell peppers and drizzled with some kind of sweet glaze. It was excellent as the calamari pieces were crisp and fresh — no sign of any rubberiness.
For my main course, I chose the 20oz bone-​in ribeye cooked medium rare. We also shared sides of their sautéed mushrooms and thai style green beans. The steak was cooked perfectly and had a pretty ideal amount of marbling. Both our sides were very good too, particularly the mushrooms.
After all was said and done, we were completely stuffed and hadn’t saved room for dessert. Our waiter though delivered a box of 4 house made chocolate truffles with a candle on top to celebrate our special occasion along with a gift card to use on a future visit.
There were so many little things like this that the staff at Flemings did to really make this such a special dinner. And while I’m sure it wasn’t intentional, the music playing throughout the night was uncannily aligned to our musical preferences. This was punctuated with the fact that «Everyday I Write the Book» started playing the moment those truffles were placed in front of us. Well played Flemings, well played!

Went to Flemings yesterday for happy hour. Their regular happy hour lasts until 7pm, which I appreciate, especially since I don’t work downtown. The happy hour menu has 5 cocktails, 5 wines, and 5 appetizers for $ 6 each. They also have a cheese and bacon burger for $ 7.
I started off with a French twist lemonade. I’m not certain what was in it other than Svedka vodka (and obviously lemonade), because their menu only lists the type of alcohol in each drink, but not mixers. It was good though. Tasted like a spiked lemonade. I also had a sip of boyfriend’s clover club. It tasted a little fruity, but more than anything it tasted like gin.
For food, boyfriend ordered the $ 7 burger, which was phenomenal. Super juicy, even well done (boyfriend only eats well done meat… it’s a shame). The bacon they topped it with was delicious. It was crispy yet thick and I think it might have had brown sugar on it, but I’m not sure. The bun was squishy and looked almost like challah bread.
Flemings has a second happy hour from 8−10pm, which has 8 wines and cocktails, and 8 menu items for $ 9 each. Although it was only 6:45p, I ordered the deconstructed s’more off of the late night happy hour menu. Our bartender was so nice that she went ahead and gave it to me for happy hour price. It came with a big block of toasted marshmallow, graham crackers with powdered sugar, and chocolate sauce, which you have the options of adding a shot of whiskey to (for a smoky flavor?). The graham crackers were to die for. They had a slight cinnamon taste to them and were almost the consistency of gingerbread. The toasted marshmallow was yum and the chocolate sauce tasted a lot like whiskey (a little too much for my taste, but again, the whiskey was optional).
To top off the happy hour, I had a blueberry lemon drop. Sweeter than the other drinks I’d tried and probably my favorite of all.
I’ll be back for a medium rare burger.

Awesome evening with awesome friends and awesome food. The service was impecable. Much, much better than Sullivan’s. We’ll come back soon!

Fleming’s is my new favorite happy hour spot in town!
Amazing happy hour deals from 5−7pm — $ 6 appetizers, $ 6 cocktails and wine. I went with some fellow Unilocalers and we ordered one of each appetizer. The calamari was delicious, a pleasant departure from the usual calamari with a sweet chili sauce. The carpaccio was a crowd favorite! Super thin slices of flavorful tenderloin. Swoon!!! And the pork belly, yum! The perfect ratio of tender meat to flavorful fat.
We hung out until after 8pm, when the next round of happy hour began!!! From 8pm-​10pm, more wine and cocktail specials for $ 9. We were stuffed at that point, so unfortunately we didn’t get to try any more great appetizers, but we ordered wine flights. They offer a red and a white. Generous pours of 3 wines, selected by the sommelier, all delicious! Great deal! My only «wish» is that there was more table seating in the bar area.
Fabulous happy hour, high quality food and drinks, and friendly, attentive staff. I’ll definitely return to Fleming’s soon!!!

I recently got to try their new lunch menu (along with far too many wonderful wines), and I was very impressed. I had never been to Fleming’s before, and loved the new remodel with its sleek interior, and gaping windows. I like that the kitchen is open (behind a pristine panel of glass), and that the food options help me stick to my low-​carb, health-​forward diet. I got to sample: lobster rolls, tuna tower, prime steak, and more. Everything was impressive, and the service was impeccable. If you haven’t been in a while, definitely check out the redesign, and if you’re looking for an elegant, upscale lunch (not one that cuts back, or offers ho-​hum choices) then this is your spot.

Flemings is known for quality and experience. The ambiance is dim and romantic. The servers accommodating and always smiling.
But I feel like they have really stepped it up now. They’ve done some redecorating and have rolled out a new late night happy hour.
I had a chance to preview that new menu and WOW. I can’t wait to go back and spend hours enjoying drinks with this new fare.
The 2^nd St location is perfect. I feel like it really captures the essence of Austin at night.

The redesign of Fleming’s is a welcome addition to the Austin Dining Scene.
The regular menu is great and the food quality is definitely off the chart. However the star at Fleming’s is the diverse Happy Hour options & their collection of 100 wines by the glass!
The Happy Hour has a special promotion 5 for $ 6 ’til 7 and 8 for $ 9 ’til 10! Basically you get great food and drinks for reduced prices at differing times throughout the night. Although the concept is a little confusing at first, the food offerings are great. I’m talking about short rib empanadas, ahi tuna tacos & lobster lettuce wraps.
Fleming’s put a lot of time and money into the re-​design and it has paid off. Go enjoy their Happy Hour menu and you won’t regret it.

We went here for my father’s 79^th birthday. I am so glad we chose to do so. They were wonderful. A birthday card at the table. Everyone from the hostess to the manager wished him a happy birthday. At the end of the meal they had a box of truffles with a candle in them. All of this is very small but huge to my Dad. At 79, not many of his friends are around these days to call and wish him a happy birthday. Thank you for this Flemings!
The meal was wonderful as well. Probably the best Wedge salad I have ever had. It came with a huge chunk of blue cheese. My husband ordered a Caesar Salad and said it was better than average as well. For entrees, Dad got their pork chop & a loaded bake potato, I got the Newport filet and husband got the petite filet. The pork chop was huge and Dad ate every bite, which means it was really good. My Newport came with the Fleming potatoes. We also ordered a side of asparagus. Everything was cooked to order.
Overall a wonderful mean and experience. Extremely on point service. Junior was our server and did an amazing job. We can not wait to return.

My heart can be won over with a cheeseburger and a $ 6.00 martini.
First of all, I had no idea before yesterday what a phenomenal happy hour selection they have with their 5 for $ 6.00 appetizers, martinis, beers, and there’s even a burger options.
Since my last brunch experience afforded me a $ 25.00 gift card, I decided to use it yesterday with friends as a break from the mayhem of moving. What a respite it was. I walked in just as they opened, from the hot-​white sunlight to the brooding dim interior and was escorted to a booth at the bar.
From there… all Heaven broke loose.
The Lemon Blueberry Martini is incredible.
Everything is garnished with beautiful, slightly sweetened fresh fruit. The flavor, crisp and refreshing and you can’t help but smile when you take a sip.
The Skinny Farmer’s Daughter, is just as impressive.
And, how apropos… cause I grew up on a farm. Or, «You mean in a barn!» according to Melissa A.‘s assessment of my table manners. Although, it’s sadly true. You found me yesterday afternoon sitting across from Melissa, her side of the table pristine, well-​arranged, spotless as she daintily nibbled at the Prime Rib Carpaccio… while the crumbs of my breads, strewn across the drippy and smudgy side of the table, stuck to my elbows (because elbows belong on the table) and decorated my lap. Just oink at me, already. To my right, Errol graciously averted his eyes as I pigged out. If he judged me, he kept it to himself until I left the table at least ;-).
We indulged indulgently. The house bread with their whipped butters (forgetting the flavors right now, but I could have eaten it with a spoon) was noteworthy on its own. The potato chips — of all things– noteworthy on their own… not a soggy one in the bunch, sprinkled with sea salt, a great table snack.
The Carpaccio followed and was arguably one of the best I’ve had, drizzled with a horseradish sauce, topped with chopped herbs and served with crispy croutons. To die for.
I’d also like to add that it was like night and day from the last visit, our service was superb this go-​around… AND we had the same server. He was a gentleman and took great care of us.
So our starters and drinks lifted us up to about cloud 5… then we ordered our big-​hitters… which took us to cloud 8.
I had their burger. It’s a Burgergasm. It’s going on the list. It may be better than Bartlett’s. The meat is just slightly salted, the flavor is like you’ve just bitten into a filet of meat-butter…even the manager noticed that I needed a moment to recoup after taking my first bite. The burger needed nothing else to assist its deliciousness. But the bacon didn’t hurt. Nor the buttery, pillowy bun. You want to order this baby medium rare.
The manager, James Cooke, by the way, is one of the most dedicated and involved I’ve ever met and interest in our experience particularly is what has made me excited to become a Fleming’s regular. Their fries are very good and there’s a slight hint of chipotle (sans heat) in their ketchup. This is a burger worth visiting for.
Melissa’s prime rib sammich, served no bun, with crisp veggies on the side and smothered in cheese was superb.
Errol’s scallops were among the best I’ve had — I would have helped rid him of all of them if I had room after my burger.
We topped the evening off on cloud 9 when we went for the molten chocolate soufflé. You order it at least 20 minutes before you’re ready for dessert — this takes love and time to make. I can’t even describe how incredible the flavor was… But this is the dessert you want when you dine at Fleming’s, I promise.
Look for my Happy Hour UYE, because that’s happening. For this value, the restaurant is accessible, you can afford these fancy drinks and you’ll be hard pressed to find meat treated so well.
For the best experience, you’ll fare better at happy hour or with a dinner reservation. I can see now that my brunch issue was due to the volume of people attending an event, and not really a reflection of what Fleming’s is all about. THIS visit, however, was. And I was duly impressed.

I don’t dislike Fleming’s, I just think there are lots of cool restaurants in this immediate area, and I wonder how Fleming’s would rate on a really short list. And even among its peers in Austin’s «Upscale-​Corporate-​Meat-​Places-​Where-​You-​Should-​Plan-​To-​Spend-​At-​Least-​$ 50-​Per-​Person» world, I’d like to see how they’d place on your list and mine. Hey, I’ve got nothing against dark woody steakhouses.
So if you text me with «Let’s go to Fleming’s for Easter brunch,» my response would probably be, «Why not?» And $ 40 wasn’t a bad deal here: My fruit salad app was crisp & refreshing, the prime rib surprisingly thin but tasty, and the bread pudding a solid 2-​for-​1 bonus — where else can you get dessert and breakfast French toast on the same plate? I could argue Fleming’s was actually rebranding a typical steakhouse power lunch as Easter brunch, but there’s nothing wrong with that.
I’m pretty sure this restaurant only does dinner service, our waitstaff seemed a tad overwhelmed working a busy Sunday afternoon, but if Perry’s can sail through a standing-​room crowd every Pork Chop Friday, one packed bunny day a year shouldn’t be all that. I could be completely wrong. And since Beth’s four-​year-​old Isibel was a model of patience & restraint waiting for our check to appear at some point, there’s no way I was going to rant & rave about it. A little child shall indeed lead us. No Easter egg on this here face.
