Great Room Escape

We had a wonderful time at the Great Escape Room! I think I might be addicted to these now, I went home and looked up Escape Rooms in Colorado so I could do this with my family over the holidays. The set felt very immersive and our actor was a fun wild card addition to the group. Definitely check this out if you’re looking for a new way to be amused!

It’s almost Halloween and that means it’s time to have some scary, fun experiences! The great escape room is located in a building of its own on the northeast side of the, now closed, highland mall.
P. S. This is also where house of torment is located!
The great escape room isn’t too scary at all, there are no zombies running at you or anything of that sort. You are basically locked up and fine clues to a few questions to free yourself and the gang! And you only have 60min!
The event was definitely enjoyable as it offers a never-​before experience, different from your routine lives. You basically get to experience what you would watch on TV!
If you have never been to an escape room or hunted house, the great escape room is definitely the place to begin with!

THIS ROOM ESCAPE IS AMAZING. I love it so hard, I would seriously do this once a week, if I could, if they varied the scenes/​puzzles, which isn’t really feasible but oh well.
After reading other reviews on similar escape/​clue type rooms, I expected this to be one of the dinky set ups that sits you in one room and makes you solve puzzles on a table. Heck no. This is legit, puts you in a dingy subway car with hydraulics, then spits you out in a dimly lit, creepy as fuck terminal set.
The puzzles are kind of hard as balls, but they do give you a character hobo actor who skulks around in the dark, throwing out cryptic hints. He looked like Reek from GoT, so that was pretty cool. We ended up solving the questions thanks to Reek and the other group that joined in during our session. I think there are 12 slots total, so I would definitely recommend getting as many people in a group to do this. As annoyingly cramped as it gets with 12 people in one of the rooms, it was nice to have one group figuring stuff out in other areas while my group investigated other stuff.
Also, I am easily terrified, like, I get scared at dementors, and shit. I was a bit scared at first, but after 15 minutes, and making sure there weren’t any scare tactics, I felt comfortable enough to walk around by myself. This place never advertises itself as a haunted house, so that one lady’s bad review is stupid.
Only minor complaint was that it was a bit too dark. The set up was amazing, and I get that it’s dimly lit for ambiance, and to make things a bit harder, but at one point I couldn’t even dial a combination lock because it was too dark. Also, maybe an hr and a half time frame to solve the 5 questions would be better. That hour flew by like no one’s business, and spending $ 40 on an hr that goes by like it’s 15 minutes is a bit steep to me. Fortunately we got groupons, and I think $ 20 is probably the perfect price for this.
I highly recommend this. So bad. Do it.

Great set up, difficult, but do-​able puzzles, and FUN! The GM we had was a great guy and I couldn’t have been happier with the experience! Are you smart enough to survive???

As a big fan of puzzle games/​survival horror/​psychological thrillers I could not pass up the opportunity to try this place out while I was in town. I had a blast and felt mentally revitalized after getting done. Such a neat way to put your problem solving skills and creativity to use. The staff was amazing too, can’t wait to go back again when they have the zombie room up and running! :)
Some general tips for new guests:
–it’s in a haunted house right next to highland mall, definitely threw us off at first
–if you’re going in the summer dress lightly, not all of it is air conditioned
–keep an open mind, be playful, and work together!!!

This was amazing! You have to be completely aware of your surroundings and think outside of the box. Show up early and ready to go because once it starts there is no turning back. I cannot wait for the next adventure. I want to take my teenagers to see if they can handle it.

Fun place with great staff. The only complaint I have was the booking process didn’t work online when using groupon. Erica McElroy in customer service in Colorado was very helpful and followed up without me asking and helped me get my reservations settled, which is worth the 5 stars.
It was more challenging than I expected. Bring smart friends! I went in August and it was pretty hot. There was one room that had good ac but not the whole place. We had a wonderful time. I look forward to them adding a new room so I can try again. I will be recommending this place to friends!

Absolutely thrilling — please do ask questions to game master — keep your eyes and ears open — be a team player and … That’s all — I can’t write any thing more.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and in future — we will go there again if they bring some new game.
It’s a team building event — we solved four out of five questions and we were very close to complete this quest. Time is money.

I was disappointed. First, it was HOT in there. Second, not scary at all… I was expecting someone to scare me. not so. Third, if you need glasses to read… be sure you have them. I was left out of a lot of the clues because I couldn’t read in the lighting without my reading glasses. So glad I only paid half price!

Absolutely incredible. DO NOT pass this up if you have the opportunity. Went for a friends birthday and it was absolutely incredible. Popcorn Jackson is the man.

i went to the great escape this past weekend with my friends, total of five of us, super fun and team building exercise. would definitely recommend people to go, at the beginning, we were all confuse, they the «character» in there helped a lot and he is good at his acting skills. at the end, the director told us we were super close to solving the puzzle. and he said there’s more in San Antonio with the zombies theme.
