I was looking for their phone number when I saw review from Unilocaly Y. which is funny because I was one of the people in line he was cutting past to make his demand they cut his «too big» pizza. His memory seems shaky because what he reports they said to him and how they replied to him was not at all what happened. Anyway this is my major issue with Unilocal when an individual has some personal vendetta to air. There were other people in line waiting while they prepared their (my) order but this guy felt special somehow. Too bad because the pizza here is excellent and I don’t think the restaurant deserves this!

Decent pizza for $ 14 but I will not be returning as I am not a masochist.
When the pizza was ready for me to take the slices were to big. I, having not touched the pizza, asked the lady if she would cut them smaller as I have young children. The lady snapped «Can’t» and walked away. I, not understanding why she «can’t», and also a little annoyed at her short and surly response, politely returned «I’m sorry but I am curious as to why you will not cut the pieces in half for me». Her response: «Just can’t».
Hm.
I asked for a knife.
She also can’t give me a knife.
I asked the man at the register who is the only other person working. He says he will perform the cutting but I will have to wait as there are two folks in line. No problem.
As I am speaking to the man the lady YELLS from the other side of the counter at me saying «SIR I ALREADY TOLD YOU WE CAN’T CUT YOUR PIZZA».
I am in shock as I am being yelled at by the woman who just cut my pizza that she can’t cut my pizza. I do not understand why she is being so rude to a patron. I was very polite the entire time. I even tipped (before being yelled at).
It seems to me that if a business wants to keep their patrons coming back they should work on not yelling at them and also not refuse very simple accommodations and requests.
Rude rude rude. I hope she reads this and is sorry for her sour attitude.
Hey «can’t» lady, I do not believe that you «can’t» cut my pizza. Also, I am a person and was patron of your establishment. The quality of my visit to your business, which is your livelihood, will determine whether or not I will be returning. Evidently you do not care. Oh well. I will have to eat $ 14 mediocre pizza somewhere else. No sauce off my pizza.

Upon arrival the guy behind the counter was on the phone and seemed annoyed that he had to help me. I asked him if he had any reccomendations for a kind of pizza and he said no, but pointed at their list of ingredients and said I could choose from those. Then I saw they had a daily special, the SA, a pizza that he neglected to mention. When I asked him how long it would take to make a pizza, he said 5 minutes. Their pizzas only come in one size, 18″, but they had two stale and gross looking slices ready to go. There was a picture behind the counter of a personal sized pizza next to a beer, when I asked him if it was accurate, he said «we do have beer». So no personal sized pizzas. Upon further questioning he made a face and admitted it would take more than 5 minutes to make a pizza, «maybe 7 or 8». I’m not sure I believe him, and decided to get food elsewhere.

Such a cute little Italian spot tucked away in the Highland Mall. The pizza was delicious made with fresh products and the most amazing vodka sauce. I had the managers special! The owner was actually working and he was very kind and attentive. I’m in this area all of the time a nd I definitely want to come back! They even had wine and beer :)

negative. ill pass. i got a slice of pizza and it was pretty basic but super greasy. thin pies at a steep price. ended up going to the other vendors so i could at least fill up but that wasen’t a good idea either.

Good salad and cheap alao. Two dollars for a side salad that is big and 1.50 for mimosa. Friendly staff and let né change my salad dressing with no problem. wish highland mall would rejuvenate itself.

Annette and the gang make an AMAZING pie! And if you doubt the talent, order the Vegan Pie!

Well, we drove ourselves over to Highland Mall (who knew there were even still stores there?) to go to Sauced after a friend’s rave reviews. I wasn’t totally disappointed but I wasn’t overly-​impressed, either.
Unlike other reviewers here, our slices had plenty of sauce — almost to the point of being too saucy. BUT I have to say, it was way too spicy for regular pizza that wasn’t ordered spicy. It’s the kind if spice that starts burning your mouth a few minutes after you start eating, and keeps burning it until you get home. Needless to say, our 3 ½ year-​old (normally a pizza lover) was not a fan. She started crying from it being too spicy!
I was also not impressed by the cheese. It didn’t taste good to me — not sure why exactly.
All in all, if I was in the mall already, sans kid (probably won’t happen), I might give it another try. But we won’t be driving there again just for a slice.

I came into this dying mall just to try a slice. I was not disappointed. Crust was crisp and perfect to my taste, not enough sauce but good flavor with cheese and sausage. I hope this place survives long enough for ACC opening next door.

While the service was good, unfortunately the pizza wasn’t. As a visitor to the area, I was hoping for more after seeing a few good online reviews. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to my expectations. Not bad if one’s looking for a quick bite and isn’t picky, but I would recommend hitting up some of the downtown Austin spots if you’re looking for amazing pizza. The cheese was just too heavy and the crust wasn’t very crunchy. Maybe the slice had been sitting for a while but it was enough to steer me to a new pizza spot a few days later.

We weren’t huge fans of the sauce on this pizza. It was almost barbecue like?

What the-​!? Why the heck is this randomly great pizza place in the Highland Mall of all places? I have no clue, but it makes it that much more awesome. My husband discovered this place so I ventured in the other day to get a whole pie for day 2 of sxsw recovery.
After walking past several empty storefronts toward the deserted part of the mall, I called him for the deets on how to find the place. Sure enough, walk up some stairs and there it is, in a mostly desolate food court (with a Peruvian place that’s also supposed to be awesome… next on my list!)
Their dough is clearly made in house and hand rolled, the sauce has a bit of spice to it, and the toppings (we got mushroom and house made meatball) are super fresh and delicious! They also use a blend of 5 cheeses– definitely one of the cheesiest pies in town!
Don’t get me wrong– I’m from Jersey so it’s not the BEST pizza I’ve had but it’s damn good! In the Highland Mall! I don’t understand it, but I love it.

Ironically, the sauce isn’t the best part of this surely-​underutilized pizzeria in the Highland Mall food court. It’s the crust. There’s just the right amount of crunch in this thin-​crusted pie, and just the right amount of integrity to hold up to some toppings, even after sitting for a while (we picked up our pie to go).
If you like thinner-​crusted pizza with a good selection of toppings (and beer/​wine!), it’s worth a stop by, especially because it’s a trip being in Highland Mall.
Note: one thing I was surprised by is that there aren’t any special pizzas — every pizza is pick-​your-​own toppings.

We had a very positive experience at Sauced. We were greeted immediately upon approaching the counter by Carson. He smiled, made eye contact, and spoke in a pleasant tone. Immediately one notices the clean counters and kitchen area. When we approached, Carson was braiding the dough for what would become the crust of a large 14″ pizza. He took our order and easily accommodated our request for a half Canadian Bacon and Pineapple and a half Pepperoni and Mushroom pizza. Carson asked if we cared to add a salad to our order stating that a large could easily be shared by two people. The salad was comprised of fresh, crisp vegetables. Sauced carries a nice selection of bottled beers, wines, and soft drinks. It is the only place that I know of where you can get an alcoholic beverage at Highland Mall. The Independence Pale Ale was ice cold and the house Merlot was served in a wine glass and very enjoyable. The pizza was well prepared using fresh, high quality ingredients. The crust was baked to a perfect rich, golden color. The pizza had an ideal flavor profile. The next time you are at Highland Mall, head over to Sauced and get a slice of pizza and an ice cold beer. Actually, do yourself and the owners of Sauced a favor and get more than just a slice. Even if you don’t plan to be at Highland Mall, you should stop by just to visit this place. Then when you are through with your meal, you and your friends should play this game: Try and get to another level of Highland Mall without using the stairs or the escalators. Good luck!

This place is ok, and the service is good. I think the pizza needed a lot more sauce, seemed a little dry, but then I like lots of sauce on my pizzas. It was my first time so if I go back I would be sure to ask for more or some on the side. They have a nice thin crust that is good, and the variety of toppings is pretty decent and include some locally grown items. I tried the chicken parmesan topping and it was good. It was hard to tell the difference between the meatball and the Italian sausage toppings though. Italian sausage should have a pretty distinctive flavor and this was lacking. I think the location isn’t the best as Highland Mall is mostly vacant.

After a very good experience at the Peruvian restaurant inside the Highland Park mall (
), I gave Sauced a try. Ironically, the slices were under-​sauced — all I could taste was cheese and crust. It was like going to Cinnabon and not tasting any cinnamon. Our pie came with some tomato sauce on the side — not sure if that was to compensate or just for dipping the crust but the sauce was too sweet for my taste anyway. The cheese was nothing special. On the plus side, the crust was good and my wife liked the mushroom topping.
Edible pizza but won’t be back.

It’s odd that the thing that stood out most about our first pizza from Sauced was the crust, not the sauce, but we loved the crust. It is a relatively crispy, thin crust style with herbs rolled into the dough. Enough dough to still be chewy and not just a cracker-​style thin blackened crust.
The namesake sauce was decent, but relatively hard to distinguish under the cheese and other toppings (carmelized onions and mushrooms) we had. They had a decent selection of other toppings including some local produce/​herbs.
Overall, a very tasty pizza that will have us going back to Highland Mall soon. It seems odd to see new restaurants (also a new Peruvian restaurant) opening up in a mall recently purchased by ACC, but maybe they plan to leave it open for students/​employees, etc. I hope this place succeeds, but without getting more info out to the public (website/​Twitter) it seems like an uphill battle.

A few months ago. I was given a sample of a test recipe for the Sauced pizza. It was very good. Today, I got the real deal. This is nearly pizza perfection. I am a stickler for the sauce. The Sauced sauces are made from scratch using fresh locally grown tomatoes and fresh locally grown organic herbs. The thin crust is stout enough to hold up to the toppings but still crisp and thin enough to fold if you want. The pizza is flavor layer upon flavor layer of pizza joy. Annette and Carson have created a menu that includes pasta and salads, but the pizzas reign supreme. Annette makes all the sauces and fresh Italian sausage while Carson makes the crusts and other baked goodies like cupcakes. Parking is easy, hours are great, and beer and wine will soon join the menu in coming days.
A quick note– Annette and Carson attended Austin Community College and majored in Culinary Arts and Pastry Arts, respectively.
