really crispy delicious southern BBQ food. Coleslaw, buttermilk biscuits and cowboy beans were great too!

Very reasonably priced. Great flavor in chopped brisket sandwich. I stopped here on my way home from work at UT and was delightfully satisfied.

I have been here at least 10 times and can say without a doubt that I have never had an experience like Shani’s. I’m actually too lazy to review most places, but the poor reviews made me feel obligated. The 1 Meat Plate comes with a lot and I usually eat it in two sittings unless I’m ravenous. But I always end up seriously stuffed. And for $ 8 – 9, not bad for 2 meals(or a big ass meal). My usual’s/favorites are the brisket, potato salad, Cowboy Beans and sweet tea. Brisket was moist and excellent, sauce comes on the side. I really don’t know how festive you need a brisket to be other than smoky with some sauce. I personally think slathering on a bunch of crap would just get in the way of the meat. I hardly find any as delicious as my Dad’s BBQ but Rudy’s and Hoover’s come pretty close. Cole slaw was pretty darn good but I couldn’t eat all of the serving in a sitting. I’ve found that most places have weird coleslaw that tastes like sweet mayonnaise with shreds of paper in it. I’m used to homemade coleslaw that’s crispy from the fresh cabbage and with a tang to it and only sugar to even it out(not make it into a dessert). Hoover’s cole slaw was kind of rich after a while(IMO), but my parents loved it. The potato salad is one of the best I’ve ever had. If it’s lazily mixed, I wouldn’t care as long as it tasted as awesome. The Cowboy Beans are pretty amazing. And I’m pretty picky when it comes to beans. Sometimes the brisket chunks in the beans are tough but I may only be noticing because I’m typically eating it alongside moist brisket. The sweet tea is fantastic and I’m pretty selective when it comes to my tea. I prefer strong, unsweetened tea in restaurants and Red Diamond sweet tea. Once, right before closing, I was forced to get the sausage since they were out of brisket. Generally, I do not like sausage, so I can’t even tell you if it’s unpleasant here. I definitely don’t prefer it, but when you’re coming home late, food is food. AMIRITE? My roommate gets the turkey and he says it’s very good. And I second Ryan’s review: I would love if they had pork ribs! Really, the only problem I’m having with this place is my waistline.

Had just left Ed’s BBQ and was looking for I-35 when I saw this trailer. I had to stop. I don’t get to this part of town often. Brisket — Good flavor and smoke ring, tender, little bit of fat on the bottom of the slices, unlike the previous reviewer I found the brisket to be more moist. Turkey — very moist, this meat was better than the brisket IMHO. They don’t serve pork ribs here :-( I thought this was a pretty decent trailer and I’ve ben to my share of BBQ trailers that were much worse. I was too full for the Peach Cobbler, would have liked to try it.

It’s our first time. Everything is bland. Brisket is really dry, sausage is bland. Potato salad tastes like a glob of mustard lazily mixed with potatoes and other items simply thrown in, but nothing that makes my mouth say yum. The cole slaw is so tangy it’s like eating something sour and wasn’t an enjoyable adventure on my palate. When the gentleman asked how everything was, we let him know that the food was, indeed, very bland and that the brisket was incredibly dry. He responded, «oh, that just came out. I would have cut you something from the middle, had I known.» Wait… shouldn’t experienced BBQers know that you cut from the middle? The ends are used in chopped beef sandwiches after soaking in sauce. What the heck? I’ll pass.
