Our band recorded with Matt at Hot Tracks. Suffice it to say we had a very good experience. He was friendly, helpful, patient and knowledgeable about recording. .We were also very impressed with the drum sounds we achieved with him.
Would definitely recommend Hot Tracks to any musician out there.

Hot Tracks!!! is a warm, inviting, affordable environment for anyone looking to go analog or digital. the engineers are knowledgeable, hard working, and considerate to the ideas of the artist. great mics, good gear, and a no nonsense layout make it easy for a band, songwriter, multi-​instrumentalist or whatever to go in and get what they want without having to adhere to huge rates, time constraints, bloated layouts, or hipster pomp and circumstance.

Hot Tracks!!! is great!
My band Blackholicus used Hot Tracks!!! because we knew Matt Smith (engineer/​owner) recorded on old tape machines and had a lot of vintage sound equipment. We used the analog machine for our instruments and did digital for vocals.
During that time, we were impressed more and more by how detail-​oriented and knowledgeable Matt is about the process of recording. He worked with those of us in the band who needed help technically translating ideas into reality, and also the ones who could define what they wanted in terms of gear, techniques or effects. He does not cut corners during the editing process.
Also, he is definitely part of the network of sound engineers and keeps up to date on gear and new trends.
When it was time to master our songs, we got priority in a time crunch and were waived our deposit fee at a top Austin mastering studio (Terra Nova) based solely on Matt’s reputation.
