Best place to get lunch on campus– 1.) Super fast! You don’t have to worry about being late to class like you would at a sit down restaurant 2.) Super cheap! It was $ 6.50 for spicy tuna roll + 3 veggies and unlimited sauces… not bad 3.) Much better than eating at the Zen on campus for sushi 4.) Customized rolls and pretty fresh! PS. Its in the stadium Red Zone food court

My first trek to DKR was a success! I didn’t realize all of the food options available to me if I would just take the time to walk across campus. But most of all, I’m excited about How Do You Roll? which provides me with a 10-piece veggie roll for $ 4.28(including tax). I like that I can get brown rice, and I like that I can do just the three veggies and not have to add meat. This location has soy sauce in packets, but they provide cups for dipping. They were also happy to put my wasabi mayo in a cup on the side for my trek back across campus. I’m not sure where you’d park if you weren’t already on campus, so I don’t recommend coming here if you’re driving.

I just tried it tonight after the speaker from«How do you roll?» gave a talk on my MKT class. I have to say that the sushi is pretty fresh and tasty, but the place is not sanitary enough. There was a spider crawling on the chopping board right after they packed my sushi. Had it happen before they packed it, I would just leave right away. Good thing is they got rid of it right way. one more thing, they left the rice cooker open on the floor, and a male worker just walked right pass it with a broom which was hanging right over the rice cooker(can’t see if there was still rice in there); and he was sweeping the floor right next to the cooker. I think they need to train their employees better and provide a sanitary environment. Anyway, I will give them one more try.

I stopped by a couple of weeks ago for a put-it-together-myself unagi roll. It was tasty. The ingredients were fresh. Although there was a line, it moved quickly thanks to the friendly, efficient staff. I took advantage of their BOGO grand opening day 2-for-1 deal, so got a healthy lunch at a fantastic price. If they weren’t so skimpy with their ingredients, I’d be happier. When my roll was being assembled, I noticed some white space(rice) between the ingredients, and asked if my roll could have a little more added so that certain bites wouldn’t just consist of seaweed and rice. This was willingly done, so kudos for that. At check-out, I was wrongly charged. This was corrected after I brought it up. It seems to be a common occurrence, as I’ve ordered unagi rolls before(at the north location) and it was assumed that I’d ordered their version of the unagi roll, which sells for a higher price. Nonetheless, it’s good to have a HDYR location closer to home.

After hours of tailgating and avoiding the gluttonous yumminess of BBQ and hot dogs I eagerly made my way to DKR stadium ready to try the newest Austin location of How Do You Roll. Being a gal who knows what she likes in a roll I love the whole concept of creating your own sushi concoction that How Do You Roll brings. And that is where I found my disappointment. During the football games How Do You roll only offers 3 rolls non of which are raw. Don’t get me wrong I know we are lucky to have options besides corn dogs and nachos but I really wanted a modern wrapper, with mango, spicy tuna, green onion and spicy sauce on the side. I opted for the California roll, it was good for a California roll. On the plus side the rolls were pre-made so service was super quick. I do like HDYR and I hope they continue to do well especially at the stadium.

I have to say I really wasn’t expecting too much when I ordered. It’s kind of like Subway, but instead of sandwiches, you make your own sushi. The ingredients seemed fresh enough and I have to say it was pretty decent. I made my own roll, instead of choosing one of the specialty rolls. For $ 7 I got a traditional seaweed wrapped spicy salmon with cucumber, asparagus, and avocado; slathered with spicy mayo sauce and topped with sesame seeds. Also it’s cut up into 10 pieces so I felt I was at least getting my money”s worth. They also were extremely helpful and fast. There aren’t that many sushi places on campus that students can really get to but I can definitely say this would be a pretty decent place to go to when you want to try something different from Oishi. Price range could be $ 6-$ 10

I discovered this place while attending the Baylor V UT game. And went again on the BOGO Grand Opening day. Both times the sushi was very good and fresh. It was so nice to have a healthy alternative to pizza, hot dogs, corn dogs, etc. at a sporting event! That night I had only the California Roll. It tasted good enough to come back again especially for a savings as it was $ 9! So, I went back at a regular lunch hour and the prices were MUCH lower and reasonable. I asked about the pricing on game night and learned for events UT takes half the money that is made from the vendors. I think this must be typical for most event centers as the food is usually expensive. So it was nice to see regular pricing for a non-event time. The second time I picked my ingredients and really loved it! The line moved quickly. The staff was friendly. The ingredients were fresh. And it was fun picking what I wanted. I tried mandarin orange on one and mango on another. The fruits which I have never had with sushi really added another dimension! Yum! I gave it a 4 star because it was difficult to find a clean table. This is in a food court so it is not just a How Do You Roll problem. However, it is something that definitely needs to be addressed with how the eating area is serviced. I will definitely being going again and will even pay game day pricing. Might as well everyone’s price is high too and this is good!
