Austin ENT Clinic was established over 30 years ago and is one of the largest ear, nose, and throat clinics in the nation. We have 12 physicians, specializing in pediatric and adult care. All our physicians are certified by The American Board of Otolaryngology.

History

Established in 1979.

Dr. Eskew attended the University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio, and completed his first years of residency in general surgery at Methodist Central Hospital in Dallas. He continued his residency in otolaryngology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Dr. Eskew is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology/​Head and Neck Surgery. He is a member of the following societies: American College of Surgeons (Fellow), American Academy of Otolaryngology/​Head and Neck Surgery (Fellow), Austin Otolaryngology Society, Travis County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, and the American Medical Association. Dr. Eskew has held many positions, including Chief of Surgery, Chief of Staff & vice chairman of the Board of Trustees at South Austin Hospital, and is a past member of the Executive Board of the Travis County Medical Society. He is a preceptor in otolaryngology for the Central Texas Medical Foundation. He was President of the Travis County Medical Society.

Once I got to see Dr. Eskew, the evaluation was quick, concise and informed. I have a game plan and next steps. I arrived a few minutes early to fill out the paperwork and was done before my appt time of 9:30a. then I waited for 40 minutes to be shown to an exam room. Once in the exam room, I worked with a nurse to handle a few more questions, then Dr. Eskew and staff arrived quickly. However, it was 40mins of wait before I saw an exam room. I purposely make morning appts, thinking that things can’t get too backed up. There are emergencies and unanticipated, lengthy appts — or they schedule too many people in too short a time

Dr. Eskew takes whatever time is necessary to give good, trust-​worthy, and accurate care to each of his patients, so while one may have to wait to get in to see him, waiting is worth it! He came highly recommended by 2 other specialists, 15 years ago, and he is the perfect combo of a caring, gentle doctor and fantastic clinician/​diagnostician. My father is a retired ENT in another town, and I am a singer, so I am accustomed to throat & vocal cord exams, and Dr. Eskew has helped me so much; he always patiently & fully listens, as well as explaining thoroughly. I cannot praise this man enough. He is a blessing to all who see him, and I question him every visit to ensure he is not retiring soon b/​c I won’t be able to handle it!

If I could give Dr Eskew 10 stars, I would. After suffering from «allergies» for a decade and not getting much relief, I finally decided to break down and see an ENT. I didn’t want a doctor that would just push more medicines without investigating the cause, so when I read about Dr Eskew on Unilocal,he sounded like a good fit. When I called to make the initial appointment, the wait was 2 months. Initially, I questioned if is he really worth the wait or if I should find someone who could see me sooner. Thankfully, I decided to be patient and wait for Dr Eskew. Best decision I have made this year! In two appointments, he diagnosed my problem (which was not allergies) and had a game plan to correct it. He wasn’t pushy about which option I should go with and took the time to explain everything. Excited to have some relief, I was able to schedule the surgery less than 2 weeks after the second appointment. Now, 1 week post op, even though I am not yet 100%, I can breathe through my nose for the first time in a decade. The recovery process was easier than it should have been, which I have no doubt was due to Dr Eskew’s surgical experience. If you have any sort of ENT issues, call Dr Eskew’s office now and make an appointment. Wait however long you need to to see him. He is the best!

Dr. Eskew is a real gem — the kind of old-​school treatment you wish you got from all your doctors. He sits down and takes time with you, answers your questions, gives all the information (good, bad, and ugly), doesn’t push drugs or one-​size-​fits-​all «solutions», is gentle and quick (I get jumpy with the throat scope thing, although I know that’s what I’m there for! But he keeps me calm and gets it done QUICK!) and once he had to give me bad news but if I ever get bad news from a doctor again, I’ll have to ask them to relay it to me THROUGH Dr. Eskew because that’s how sweet and caring he is. My allergies are SOOO much better (I’m allergic to the entire plant kingdom, but have survived 3 cedar seasons without a sinus infection!) and my other problems are under control. I haven’t had any surgery with him but my friends that have are all quite happy with it. He can have quite a waiting list but I’m under the impression that it’s because he’s willing to spend more than 60 seconds with each patient, even though we all know the medical insurance world doesn’t want him to operate that way. Would that all doctors were that stubborn in that regard! One day when he retires I’ll be heartbroken. GO SEE HIM!

Dr. Eskew is that rare combination of a caring man and excellent doctor. I was referred to him by my GP. It’s so refreshing to have a doctor who’s not in a rush to get to the next patient and who really knows his stuff.
I had to see the doctor 3 or 4 times. On the last visit we both agreed that another appointment wasn’t necessary.
I would recommend Dr. Eskew without any reservations for anyone who needs an ENT specialist.

Wish there were six stars. I am a huge weanie and put off having my deviated septum fixed and sinus turbinates trimmed for 5 years. I wish I had had Dr. Eskew perform the surgery years ago. I had a tonsilectomy as an adult from an ENT in Dallas, and although I don’t think he did a poor job, he did not prepare me for the extreme post-​surgical pain. Dr. Eskew prepared me for exactly what post-​surgery would be like, and a week out, not healed, yet, I am so happy with the results. I am also thankful neither he nor his staff treated me like i drug addict when I requested pain medication. My experience with the majority of docs in the US is they use a «one size fits all» policy for pain and procedures. Dr. Eskew is the opposite: individual attention, extreme skill, and a very calming and lai-​back bed-​side manner. Highly highly recommend.

I finally found a doctor that sat down, listened to what was wrong, looked at me, and shared a REAL OPINION of what the hell was wrong with me. And it wasn’t even related to why I was there! Kinda. I mean, it had to do with my sinuses and not my ears. That’s what you expect from a doctor.
Warning, I made this appointment almost 6 weeks ago. Like I said in reviewing the office (Austin ENT), he was worth the wait.

Wonderful ENT doctor. Kind, patient, and cares about his patients. Over 30 yrs. experience and it shows. I had a couple tumors removed recently and my incisions look wonderful. He is meticulous and takes his time. He cares about your scars and was able to put the stitches on the inside and glue the outside. I will never go to anyone else for my ENT needs.
