History

Established in 2007.

When every aspect of his life pointed Charlie to opening his own shop, the local Austin hot-​rod builder finally gave in. He rented some space from a good friend, hired the best mechanics and body guys he knew, and named the shop after who else but himself. Mercury Charlie is located in North Austin. Just look for the suede blue 1950 Mercury out front.

Mercury Charlie has been building cars since the 1960’s. Not being able to drive he had to settle for customizing his model cars and helping the older kids on their rods and customs dreaming of the day he would be behind the wheel of his own. After much hard work and determination he slowly built the car of his dreams, bringing home multiple trophies and highly esteemed awards. Today you can find him turning wrenches in his shop or out at a show with the cherished 1951 Customized Mercury «Sweet Nadine».
