Our staff of dedicated licensed acne care providers have received advanced training in the treatment of clinical and medical esthetics to treat acne, pigmentation, and acne scars, as well as holistic nutrition.

We have a functional medicine approach to treating acne, a method that addresses the underlying causes of the disease rather than simply treating the symptoms. Our unique approach integrates conventional and complementary therapies to achieve clear skin with improved whole body health.

Our comprehensive approach to acne focuses on prevention and finding the root cause of acne rather than the dermatologist approach of merely treating the symptoms with oral antibiotics and Accutane. We are dedicated to providing proactive and personalized treatment plans for our clients.

We believe that acne is only 20% inherited (genetic) and 80% «self-​inflicted» (from pore-​clogging skin care products, hair products, makeup, and an inflammatory diet). Thus, by uncovering internal factors (leaky gut, hormonal imbalances, candida) and external factors (comedogenic products, skin picking), customizing a diet to create deep healing on the inside, and speeding up healing on the outside with an improved skin care routine and professional products, anybody can achieve clear skin.

History

Established in 2011.

In 2011, Alissa Chasen opened SkinFit Austin and SkinFit Acne Clinic, where she gained national acclaim for helping acne sufferers clear their skin, both in person and long distance.

In 2015, with the input of supporting dermatologists, cosmetic chemists, and acne specialists, Alissa helped formulate the first acne-​only skin care line for six distinct acne types, POREspective, which is available to acne sufferers who wish to treat their acne at home through the online shop page.

An expert in the field of acne, Alissa Chasen holds a bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Houston then completed 750 clock hours of training in esthetics at the Avenue Five Institute, where she finished first in her class. Alissa is a Licensed Esthetician specializing in Medical/​Clinical Esthetics. She practices in Texas, one of the few states where it is legal to administer medical extractions using a lancet.

Alissa has 19 years of experience in health care, dermatology, and acne, previously holding a wellness position with Methodist Health Care System’s Institute for Preventative Medicine, then pharmaceutical positions with Bristol-​Myers Squibb and the dermatology division of Sanofi-​Aventis. Alissa has completed training in the anatomy and physiology of acne and pharmacology of prescription-​level and over-​the-​counter (OTC) acne medications.

Alissa is the lead esthetician and holistic nutritionist at POREspective and accepts New Client appointments.
