Sailor’s Grave Ink

Eryk Rada did my tortoise piece. He was amazing! I emailed him a few times before actually meeting him, I sent him a picture of what I was looking for and he drew me up an idea and was all about working with me to make sure I got the final product that I wanted. We tweaked the image a bit, but I couldn’t be happier. In the last week I have had two people say to me «I hate tattoos, they aren’t my thing, etc. But that tattoo is the most beautiful one I have ever seen.» I tend to agree with them. The line work is outstanding and the shading is beautiful. I really have a work of art. He’s super the best and I’m sending all my folks to him!

I’ve been here twice in the past month — the first time for 4 cartilage piercings by Josh, and the other day for a tattoo by Chris Post. Everything was excellent! Josh is a thorough piercer, and the whole process was clean and quick. Post did an amazing job on a detailed linework piece on the back of my thigh. This place shines above other shops in the area due to how incredibly friendly and enthusiastic the employees are.

I got my tragus pierced by Josh, he was so incredibly nice, and he has a very gentle hand. I called every shop in Austin and they had the best price around with the friendlies attitude of all of the people I spoke to. I would %100 go back for more. Clean, friendly and quick.

Got an amazing piece by Eryk the other day.
Super clean lines and the color is amazing. He gave me exactly what I wanted and I’m very happy with the results! I’ve gotten so many complements already! Go see Eryk he wont disappoint!

I really should have written a review three years ago when I got my tattoo from them, but better late than never I suppose. This place was really great — I happened to find a sketch that was amazingly close to the image of what I wanted that I had in my mind. I have never seen another dragon that looks like mine anywhere else. John McCain is really serious about making sure that the tattoos he does remain unique to the wearer.
John McCain did impressively beautiful line work for a great price. I’ve been consistently getting compliments on my tattoo over the last few years. Even though I have gotten some new and great work near to this tattoo, I’m still completely in love with the work that I got from this artist. I have plans to return to have him expand the piece.

I’ve had a handful of tattoos and a ton of piercings done at Sailors. Chris did a medium sized piece on me and it came out FANTASTIC. On the other hand, I’ve also had work done by Jason, and all I can say is it is so-​so. It’s not exactly what I wanted (the size he said it would be is a bit off and coloring is NO WHERE where I wanted it to be).
The place (the old facility) was GROSS. It had beams in the ceiling that were CAKED in dust and grime (the occasional bird would make sure to knock some of it down… During a session).
Rarely has a piercing artist on site. Last I heard its the owner, and its only by appointment only. I’ve had MANY times where I have recommended this place to friends in the beginning (before the tattoos) and he wouldn’t even show to their appointment or call. Just left em hanging downtown. There were times I had waited more than 2 hours for him to show!
I hope they’ve cleaned up their act with their new location, but I still won’t be going back. Alright tattoos, crappy management and building hygiene.

Got my fourth tattoo here, by Jacob. Really nice guy, super patient as I am a HUGE wuss when it comes to getting tattooed. The lower back is a slightly more sensitve area and I kept involuntarily twitching during the outline but he was really polite about it and reassuring. He even went back and fixed up the parts where I twitched and made them more fluid and even. My tattoo looks awesome. Healed really well.
As for the space:
They just moved into their new location so it’s not 100% organized but don’t let that discourage you. Within a few months I think it’ll start to look more settled. It is CASH ONLY however they conveniently have an ATM in the back. I also believe there is a piercing section in the back as well with jewelry and so forth. Anyways, like I said, cool dudes, decent ink. Ask for Jacob, he’s awesome.

Got my first tattoo here after a few friends did the same. Love it! They are nice and know exactly what you want even if you can’t get it into words.
