I decided to try this place because it was time to wash my comforters and I figured I may as well go to the laundromat, save time and wash my clothes at the same time! That was my intention but, of course I ended up spending just as much time as I would have using my complex washers and dryers! This place was packed but, there was still washers and dryers available so, i was optimistic. A couple of the washers that I selected(large load ones for $ 3.00 per wash-24 minute cycles) had broken handles so, I had to take my clothes out and put them in other one’s. They are the front loaders so, I feel like those clean clothes a bit better than upright spinning ones! That is all the good experience I had at this place. I grabbed a cart and started transporting my stuff to the dryers! I used 3 extra large load dryers which give you time based on individual quarters. Please take note that sometimes when I put a quarter in it gave me 8 minutes and the next quarter only gave me 4 more minutes! hmmmm interesting? If that wasn’t bad enough, the one dryer door kept popping open and wasn’t drying the clothes. I go get one of the women behind the counter(who barely speak English or pretend not to if you have a problem) and she came over to tell me it was my comforter hitting the door. As I stare at her like you have to be kidding me, how does a comforter that isn’t heavy bust open a supposedly air tight door seal? I look above and point out that someone has an overfull load in the dryer above with heavy wet towels and she just says no no no no it’s the«blanket». Ok, so me being a reasonable problem solver, I open the dryer next to it and throw half of my load in there and leave the comforter in by itself(in an extra large load dryer mind you). So, here I am wasting more quarters just to prove a point to someone who doesn’t want to be bothered to see that something is wrong. Well, guess what, hmmm it’s not drying at all and the door keeps popping open! Now, I remove the comforter put it in another dryer and restart an empty cycle to go get the lady because it now appears that my suspicions are right. I go get her and shock and awe wow, the dryer door pops open with nothing in it and the glass isn’t even warm. 5 minutes later after she walks to every dryer and touches the glass(wasting more of my time) she decides I am correct! She asks me how much I lost in the dryer and refunds me the money. This whole nonsense cost me another 1.5 hours! Seriously, let’s employ at least one person who speaks English so, that when your customers have a problem and a valid response to why it’s happening, they can communicate with your employee! I would rather pay a dry cleaner to wash each and every piece of my laundry every week than ever go to this place again! Ok that’s the end of my venting!

Place rating: 3 Austin, TX
Coin-op Laundry on North Lamar near 183. This space used to be an asian supermarket I believe. Pretty standard fair for a laundromat. Key point of information for me — They have Pinball! Pins at this location: Cirqus Voltaire(Williams 1997) Game play is not perfect, but pretty good overall. The left flipper sticks once and awhile. Replay is pretty low at 6 million.
