History

Established in 2001.

Tejas Liquor #2 is a family owned neighborhood liquor store (independent from other Tejas Liquors). We have owned and operated it since 2003. Our second and only other location, Dany’s Liquor in Pflugerville, TX, joined the company in 2006.

We’ve dropped by a couple times since we moved to the area. Most recently, we stopped by to support Small Business Saturday (thanks, Amex!). They seem to have a fairly extensive inventory for a store of their size. Well organized, and we found something suitable and were in and out fairly quickly.
I wasn’t expecting for a place like this to be having drink samples. But who was I to not see how well Southern Comfort matched with Ocean Spray Cranberry?
I won’t say it’s perfect. One item we selected scanned at a different price than the shelf tag. But they were quick to manually update the price to match the shelf tag without giving us any hassle.
The prices seemed competitive. And not having to deal with the Arbor Walk shopping center parking lot to get to Specs between now and the end of the year, and instead pop into this place and park 10 yards from the door has value as well.

Best Texas/​Austin beer selection this side of 183. All of the standards — Jester King, Austin Beerworks, Hops & Grain, Adelbert’s, Real Ale, Rahr and Sons, Saint Arnold, and more! Thank goodness for having a place like this in way North Austin.

Of the two Wells Branch locations, this one is my favorite. I can’t walk out of there without them giving me something complimentary. I bought a very expensive bottle of champagne and the clerk threw in some glasses. I bought a top shelf gin and I got a kitchen towel. I bought a bottle of Crown Reserve and the clerk overheard it was a gift and she got it put in a gift bag right away with tissue and everything, no charge. They probably aren’t as cheap as Specs, but the service and location makes up for any added expense. ALSO, check in with Unilocal and get 10% off!

The BEST liquor store in Wells Branch. The ladies at Tejas Liquor #2 are always friendly and helpful. I feel very welcome when I go in there like part of the family, I really like the neighborly atmosphere. They have FREE liquor tastings every week and it is great to be able to sample something new. These folks make you feel welcome; they appreciate your business.
THIS IS NOT THE SAME COMPANY as the nearby Tejas #3, that newcomer to the neighborhood is sharking on TEJAS #2’s reputation and good will, even posing as the owners of Tejas #2! But that rant is for a post on Tejas #3.

Always the best price, I go there every payday. Their sales blow Spec’s and Twin Liquors away. The 2 ladies are always friendly and no they aren’t beer experts. But I have been shopping there since they opened and won’t go anywhere else, I am always dissapointed when I do.

I’ve been going to Tejas Liquor 2 for over 8 years now as they are right in our neighborhood in Wells Branch. This is the store next to the old Ropers and the Texaco station. The Dhingra family owns this store and have treated us like their own family since we first set foot in the place. They love our neighborhood and it’s nice to still have a business you can go in and you are so kindly treated and remembered. Austin isn’t know for great customer service and with big retailers coming in all over the place it’s getting much worse. Support the local businesses!
