My husband and I came here for dinner the other night and well it was good but not fantastic. The queso dip with chips was amazing. I love that stuff but I got two of the carnitas tacos and they were extremely dry and chewy and very very salty. Like I just ate a spoonful of salt. It was two overpowering for me which totally killed it so I only ate one. Also I think their prices are a little steep for sure. I’ll go back just to eat the queso but I’m staying away from anything with carnitas in it.

Best tacos in North Austin. Queso is the best in town. Don’t miss the fried cookie dough too. Reasonably priced and family friendly. We are frequent flyers :-)

Haven’t had any bad experiences since my last one. Food is always better when I eat it there versus ordering to-go. Can be busy at times, but almost always delicious. Love fried avocado taco and queso with chips!

These tacos are not at all Mexican so don’t expect that but they are very different and fun ! Like the pork and the chips and queso and always fun to get the taco of the month! It’s growing on me.

First time in Austin and our local friends said a trip to torchy’s was mandatory. Waited over an hour for our food. We found out that our ticket had been completely lost after we visited the pick up counter three times. Three times. A queso randomly appeared at our table by mistake so we graciously ate that, because an hour is ridiculous. Giving this review 3 stars because the queso was great, the food was good once it arrived, and the people we shared our table with were super friendly. Notable mention: all soft drinks are locally crafted sodas from Austin. No Coke products here. Thumbs up in my book.

After arriving in Austin for a weekend getaway, being picked up at the airport, waiting just a lil while longer for another person to arrive in ABIA, heading to the mall to meet up with more people, of course I was starving. The only thing I snacked on while at the airport was almonds. Luckily my friends were hungry as well. They decided on this place to eat. I was new to the area, so whichever place they decided on, I was cool with. Even though I was famished, I only ordered 2 tacos… I didnt want to seem like a glutton. Luckily, I stuck with 2 because these tacos were filling. I ordered the Green Chile Pork and the Beef Fajita taco. There was a choice of either flour or corn tortilla, Igot the corn. Since I was starving, I ended up scarfing down both tacos without enjoying the flavors, I guess I am a glutton… they were good still. I wouldn’t mind coming back here to try their other items next time I’m in Austin.

Torchy’s is the kind of place that’s only amazing if you eat animals. As a vegan, I was able to find vegan tacos — but it was basically potatoes and black beans. Nothing to write home about. My first time here, I would come twice a day and get the breakfast(egg) tacos when I was only a vegetarian, however now this is obviously not an option. It is great for people who aren’t vegan or have dietary restrictions, which is why they get 3 stars — but I would hope for more vegan options from such a hip place with such a young crowd. Crossing my fingers that during by my next ATX trip they’ll modernize and carry more vegan options!

I feel like the portions here are larger than all the other Torchys I’ve been to. For that alone, 5 stars. Also every single menu item is delicious(except for brushfire, which was too salty and hot to enjoy). Their queso is awesome. The secret menu(holler Matador and Ace of Spades and Trashy Trailer Park) and the regular menu– every one of my visitors have enjoyed this place. I’m so grateful for Torchy’s, this Thanksgiving and all Thanksgivings to come. Thanks for your solid food and ability to always curb a craving.

Keep coming back to this place. Their breakfast tacos are pretty good. I’d recommend you to take a look on their website for their secret menu. Try the Ace of Spades! A combination of eggs, brisket, and jalapeño sausage. But it’s fairly large– size of 2 tacos as it requires 4 tortillas so it’s not for the faint of heart, nor for those who like to eat with clean fingers.

One of my favorite things about Torchy’s is how consistent their quality of food is. No matter where I decide to get my Torchy’s fix I always know I’m going to get one of the most excellent meals ever. Torchy’s is also great for pick up, to go, group orders, catering, and especially dining in– when the tacos are THE most fresh!

Torchy’s Tacos certainly lives up to its motto, «Best Damn Tacos». Never will you find a chain of restaurants that offers the quality that Torchy’s offers. You can’t go wrong starting off with chips and queso and from there don’t be shy to try any choice on the menu. My personal favorites: the green chile pork, the brushfire(Jamaican jerk chicken with mangos and grilled jalapeños), the Democrat(beef barbacoa and avacado), or if I’m in the breakfast mood, the Wrangler(brisket, egg, potato). I also love trying the Taco of the Month, almost never disappointed with it. Don’t forget about the secret menu, but I’ll let you figure that one out for yourself. Good luck on your foray into Torchy’s world. Be careful, you may find yourself a regular spot.

My god, why are you reading this? Go to Torchy’s NOW and get yourself some taco heaven! I live in the area and have been working my way through the menu. There’s not a weak link in the chain; be sure to try their ‘secret menu’ with the Jack of Clubs and the Green Chile Pork: Missionary Style. If I have anything negative to say, it’s that due to their popularity they tend to be overcrowded and very loud. Grin and bear it, and enjoy that taco! This place gets 5 stars on the ‘CTJ Scale’, as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing on after finishing a meal here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK being seen eating here by Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus’ Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn’t have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn’t have my penultimate supper here, either.

5STAR. Best tacos I have ever had. In. My. Life. I normally don’t make crazy statements like that, but in this case, it is warranted. I visit Torchy’s Tacos every time I visit Austin for work. It is always on my to-do list, and it never fails. If I ever leave my current job, I will look to open up a Torchy’s Tacos location in Northern California to blow away all of the other taco shops here. I’ve been to Torchy’s 3 times, and the first time I went(months ago), I went with one of my co-workers, who told me that I need to order from the«secret menu». Here are my recommendations: 1. The Matador — this is easily my favorite taco there. It has chopped brisket, pickled onions, avocado, and grilled jalapeños. There is a crisp corn tortilla that give it good texture, and in epic Texas fashion, there is a flour tortilla on the outside as well to give the soft texture contrast. EPIC. 2. The Hillbilly — There is a fried chicken tender with chorizo in this one!!! What the heck?! Yeah. There is also chopped bacon, green chiles, pico de gallo, and poblano ranch. Amazing name for a taco, exceeded by its amazing taste. 3. The Mad Cow — This one has skirt steak with black beans, corn, and chipotle ranch. Holy freaking cow! The tacos here are not overpriced like they are in California. Each of these tacos is like $ 3.50-$ 4.50, and they are humongous!!! I recommend ordering 2 total tacos, 3 if you are super hungry. If you eat 3, you will probably get food coma’ed. The other nice complementary dish to get is their queso. You can get their queso with guac in it, or with chorizo. WOW — freaking unreal. I highly recommend everyone try Torchy’s Tacos. I believe they have locations throughout many metro cities in Texas, but I have only been to the ones in Austin. I am sure the other locations are just as epic. Just thinking about these tacos makes we want to plan another trip to Austin ASAP.

I’m a sucker for fried chicken so naturally I had to get the Trailer Park. And. Holy crap did it meet my expectations of a taco filled with fried chicken! I may or may not be currently drooling just thinking about it… They also have a secret menu! Look it up online to see if any of the tacos fancy you! I got the The Hipster(fried tuna and avocado) The tuna was a little big for the tortilla, but whose really complaining about that? A little pricey($ 5.5) but worth it if you like tuna. But. last but not least… QUESOQUESOQUESOQUESOQUESOQUESO It’s no lie, it’s literally heaven. We didn’t even order it but they gave it to us. They said not to worry about the charge because it was on the house. I guess the Queso gods were on our side that day. Great food, great service, great people. Definitely coming back on the next visit to Austin!

Hands down my favorite tacos in Austin. My super picky children literally finish their entire meal. The trailer park extra trashy is my favorite, but the baba shrimp is great too. The democrat is good with added queso on top the salsa verde. The cane soda is so tasty in any flavor. I like the black cherry, but the littles like their pink drink. Service here is outstanding, and everything is super clean. Nice clean individual bathrooms. Come early because with tacos this delicious, there’s always a line. Believe me, it’s so worth it!!!

My Unilocal app told me I’ve been here three times before and I need to write a review. So I will. However, im going to complete this review while I’m in line based on all my prior meals: Megas tacos rock Chicken fajita tacos rock Beef fajita tacos rock The Trailer Park tacos rock(I don’t get them trashy) The Brushfire is my fav. 5-star taco. It’s brings the heat. The Republican is ok. One taco feeds my sons GF. Two tacos feeds my son. I’m about to order. 25 people were in front of me. Ten minute wait. One Unilocal review complete :)
