Capital Primary Care provides office based primary care to patients ages 14 and higher. Services include office Dermatology, office Gynecology, administration of routine vaccinations and management of chronic medical illnesses. We also provide care for sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea and chronic insomnia. Our office also offers a variety of cosmetic procedures including Botox Cosmetic, Juvederm and laser hair removal.

Our office staff strive to provide the best possible care. Our office also uses a state of the art electronic medical record system which includes a patient portal to allow online interactions with our practice. We are currently accepting new patients without Medicaid or Medicare insurance.

History

Established in 2002.

Capital Primary Care has existed in Austin Texas since late 2002, when Dr. Leo Toupin, MD established an internal medicine practice in the area after moving from San Diego California. The office re-​located from behind North Austin Medical Center to the Lake Creek area near Westwood High School in mid 2007. The practice has matured in the last 10 years and added mid-​level providers in 2008. Dr. Toupin became sub-​specialized in Sleep Medicine in 2009 and expanded his practice to include sleep disorders.

Dr. Toupin completed his internship and residency in

Internal Medicine at the University of California, San

Diego Medical Center in 1993. Upon graduation, he

began working for Sharp Rees-​Stealy Medical Group, a large multi-​specialty medical

group as a staff Internist in San Diego and remained there until his relocation to Austin in

2002. During this time, Dr. Toupin was an Associate Investigator of the Sharp Rees–

Stealy Clinical Research Department. He was involved in several studies relating to

treatment of hypertension and Influenza infection. He was the HIV Specialist for this

group from 1998 – 2002 and was a member of the HIV Medicine Association of the

Infectious Diseases Society of America. He was also a Medical Consultant for the

group’s weight management program from 1998 – 2002.

Dr. Toupin relocated to Austin in 2002 with his family to begin a private practice in

Internal Medicine. He is a member of the Travis County Medical Society and American

College of Physicians.
