This place is my second home. A board game shop, hub for magic, DnD host location, meetup for Warhammer, and so much more, Whose Turn has it all. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgable, and Patrick cares about his shop and puts his customers first.
A beautiful space after recent remodeling opens up the floor to make sure everybody has space to do whatever they would like, and you’d be surprised by the hustle and bustle the shop always seems to have. Take a minute of your time to drop into Whose Turn and see what I’m talking about — You won’t be disappointed.

Super cool spot. I recently got back into Magic the Gathering after a 10 year hiatus. The store staff were super helpful and always have time to explain things to me. That’s a HUGE issue with most specialty places, which tend to assume you are an expert when you walk in. This place is super friendly and even the random people you meet here are eager to help. A guy (non-​staff) gave me a whole box of cards when I told him I was new! I came for the cards, I stay for the people.

I went in on the recommendation of you fine Unilocalers and was not disappointed. Despite them not having the game I was looking for, I was able to watch some locals game, chit-​chat with the manager (who was not awkwardly barefooted), and found some new items I hadn’t known existed. The vibe here was very chill and I was happy to have some other suggestions from the patrons on where I could go next to get my geek on. True to Austin’s nature they were crazy friendly.

Amazing service! Called to see if they would have Cards Against Humanity — naturally you can only purchase these online — but as luck would have it… They had CAH in stock!!!
I had a friend run in and grab them for me and he said the guy was super funny, helpful and made it easy to get in and get out.
They have a great selection and I would recommend going to them above anyone else first, for all your gaming needs.

A great store to find a wide selection of games — and it has a playing space next door that you can hang out with friends and play. They even sell snacks and drinks so you’re fully prepared for a night of fun. They can special order games for you if they don’t have what you’re looking for. The owner Patrick is really nice and easy to talk to – he knows everything about the games and loves to share his knowledge.

Get ready for the perfect Saturday night game night. Grab a few bottles of adult beverages, run in and talk to these guys, spend less than $ 50 and have a great night! These guys nailed it on a few options for adult game night!

I visited Whose Turn Is It? for the first time today and will be a frequent customer due to the friendly employees and excellent customer service! Great selection of MtG and various other games with another room dedicated for gaming.
I am relatively knew to Magic TCG. The employee, Charlie (I think that was his name) was more than thorough on explaining many facets of the game to me. Looking forward to FNM this week.

I didn’t know this store was even here when I happened to drive by it while visiting Austin a couple weeks ago, and I decided to take a look. When I lived in Austin I used to frequent Great Hall Games and Dragon’s Lair quite a bit, but this place has only been open a couple years and I’ve been gone much longer than that.
They had a decent selection of the kinds of games I like (meaty Euros), not huge, but very respectable. They also had a pretty decent size shelf of demo games, though we didn’t stick around for that. The owner (at least I presume he was the owner) came by to assist us and was pretty knowledgeable about the game I was eyeing, he was very friendly and I appreciated his pro-​active helpful but not pushy style. I bought the game we talked about and the price was about what I expected it would be (MSRP).
While I didn’t stay to game on site, I noted they have a pretty big gaming space (about the same size as the store part) and it was pretty full on the Saturday we came by. So people clearly enjoy playing here.
Really I have only a single complaint, which to be honest would be a deterrent for me were I to be a local and wanting to game here with friends. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting. I know it’s an old building, and it’s a single sink & toilet which isn’t much for the size crowd that was in the shop, but if you’re going to host 30 – 40 people for gaming you have got to stay on top of the bathroom situation. I will not go into detail about exactly what condition it was in, but it was bad enough that when I came out I told my husband not to bother and to just wait until we could stop somewhere else. There was also a very strong whiff of gamer funk sitting at the table by the bathroom playing an RPG… which is not the store’s fault, but still unpleasant.
So… the moral of this story is, «go» before you go.

This is a great spot for south Austin. As others have stated most of the great places to play games are North. WTIIG is a great space to buy and play games. They have a pretty good selection. They definitely slant towards the table top and miniatures market. That being said it seems like they have a good selection of cars games (Pokemon, Magic and the like. Not my thing so I can’t say for certain) If they don’t have it in stock they will order it for you. Both times I’ve done this I had
The staff there are great. They are never too busy to give a recommendation or just shoot the breeze. The owner is around most of the time. I missed his name but he’s great.
They don’t really serve food except for the standard chips, candy, and sodas. My understanding is they allow you to bring in outside food so that’s a plus.

HELLO! I love table top and RPG games! Honestly, I’ve been thinking that this place was just a board game and puzzle store; I suppose that’s because of the name. Hubby kins and I stopped here after riding around Austin, for the second time (we literally drove up S Lamar, over to Bee Caves, and then back around) as we tried to figure out where to eat dinner. It was like destiny, so we decided to stop in.
HOLY…every game you could have ever wanted after watching Beer and Board Games on YouTube is here! It’s awesome! I was excited because they had Munchkin in stock. Funny story there, unrelated to the store itself. Anyway! They’ve got all of that, tons of Magic cards, a table for gaming in the front area and then an entire room of gaming tables in the back/​side area of the store!
If you like RPG, table-​top, or card games, this is your store! Don’t be fooled by the name, like we were! The staff is laid back and very helpful! The players there seemed to be on the younger end of the spectrum, as opposed to the crowd that I see at Tribe or Outlaw Moon.

This shop is tucked away off of Lamar. In fact, you might even missed it if you were to busy staring at the smiling donut with a mustache from Gourdough’s Public House.
One of friends had stopped here earlier to pick up a game and found out that they had tons of boardgames to try out. Therefore, a small group of us decided to return and spend a nice afternoon indoors with the cool AC.
As mentioned above, this is a great shop to try out new games before you buy them. The people working there and playing the games were very friendly and patient. They were always willing to teach us new games and get us involved in the action. My friends and I walked away happy. We have hopes to return and possibly purchase some of the games we tried out!

This is where I spend all my extra time! The people make it fun – an entire shop’s worth of gaming space to play with friends or folks you meet there. The board games make it an experience – best selection of board games you can find!
They have MeetUp groups join here to support the community and select events to help get people into playing games. I’ve seen people playing RPGs, large Magic tournaments, and a variety of board games from Settlers to Twilight Imperium.
It’s a very comfortable environment for new Austinites and veteran gamers.

This is a great place for all players, from MTG to Game of Thrones. Their selection falls short when it comes to game accessories but if they don’t have it they can get it. With a complete separate game room next door, this gives gamers a chance to play Pathfinder, test their decks and play War Hammer in the same room. Service is great and if they don’t have the answer they can find it. Often enough, places start FNM way to early for me to get off work and make it one, they have made it convenient for everyone with a 7pm Sealed start and a 7:30pm Standard start. Plenty of people their to answer any questions and pleasant enough to take my kids. i have recommended this place to all my friends and hope you would do the same. Another small business making a big difference.

If you’re into board games, miniatures, or card games and you live in south Austin you’re in luck. Heck, you don’t even have to live in south Austin to take advantage of this store. My husband and I drive about 40 minutes each way almost every Sunday to play board games during their open gaming time.
Things I like about Whose Turn Is It? Games:
–I can easily get assistance from an employee without having to track someone down.
–The staff is knowledgeable about all types of games and can make suggestions if needed.
–They have a variety of games including a section for kids.
–They have a lot of demo games than can be taken to the gaming room to play for free (awesome if you are considering purchasing a game but you’re not quite sure).
–They carry a variety of miniatures and accessories, including paints, brushes, etc.
–Snacks and drinks! And BYOB?! Don’t have to twist my arm.
–They don’t have what you’re looking for? No worries — they offer a 20% discount on special orders and you only have to wait a few days to get the item.
–There are many opportunities for gameplay — Star Wars Saga Edition, Dragon Lords — Pathfinder, Wargaming, Dominion Wars, open board gaming and tons more.
Things I don’t like about Whose Turn Is It? Games:
–It’s so far from my house! But totally worth the drive which is why we do it so often.
I highly suggest checking out Whose Turn Is It? Games. You can enable a friend who is a board game addict this gift-​giving season, or meet new people while becoming an addict yourself!

So I live down the street from «Whose Turn Is It? Games» and I was bit skeptical at first because Tribe is just down the street and has comics AND games. But having gamed there a few times already and meeting some great gamers there the place has sort of grown on me. The store itself seems small but they’ve done the best they can with the space and it works. Plenty of room to come in and find a table to play games with friends.
Like people have mentioned in other reviews Austin has a plethora of gaming shops but in my experience all the ones with actual gaming space are all up in North Austin. It’s good to have one for all us South Austinites and they’ve since started a Wednesday Pathfinder Society game and regular events. The staff are friendly and willing to give you advice if you’re looking for a particular kind of game, even willing to find a game if it’s not in the store and order it for you.
Stop on by sometime, it’s worth your time.

I heard about this place from my wife, and have been meaning to check it out. I ordered in a board game (Skull & Roses). My order arrived within the week, which was great. I dropped by with one of my daughters, and picked up a few extra items. This place has a good selection of games, as well as minis and paints. I saw primarily 40K and Citadel paints.
Overall, I highly recommend this place.
