Yodle

These guys call me 4 to 5 times per week. It’s borderline harassment because I’ve asked them to stop calling. Maybe a 1 star review will help them understand that I am not interested.

A few weeks ago I get a call from what appears to be a local number (the name of a town 20 – 30 minutes from my office), but I miss the call. «Lisa» leaves a voicemail, not saying who she is with but that there is a potential client in a related area I practice in (she gave a very specific practice area), and that her service (no name) could help me get this client and others like them. Now, I’m familiar with sales companies that promise greater web presence, marketing, etc. etc.
But, color me naïve, it sounded like there was an actual client waiting to be referred to someone. So, I make the poor decision to call the person back. Lisa sounded nice and enthusiastic, but it was very clear very quickly this was just another sales pitch like the ones I usually reject out-​of-​hand and there was no actual client. I also found out she was calling from a completely different region of the country. Not locally. A common misleading sales tactic.
That said, I’m always interested in growing my practice and she said that describing what Yodle could do would only take 20 minutes. Okay, okay, I think. 20 minutes isn’t bad and the somewhat vague but positive description she gave me sounded promising, so why not? I schedule it for this past Monday and I make sure to ask: «I have no obligations for this presentation, right?» She gets realllly weird and defensive in her tone, but said «uh yes that’s correct.» Should have just put the kibosh on the whole thing then.
She calls precisely at our agreed-​upon time this past Monday. She said she sent me an email with the link — nope, no email. She has me manually type in the presentation web page. And from then on out, it was a mess. She was all rhetoric with no description and kept stumbling over her words and messing up the zoom/​projection on the presentation. I cut her off at one point and say «okay, so basically this gets me more hits on google?» Her response was very defensive «NO, it’s much more than that – it’s yahoo AND bing too.» «Okay so it gets me more hits on google, and those search engines as well [note: because so many people use yahoo and bing that’s really important to mention apparently].» «…yes but that’s so much more than [other service]» (she was dead serious during this exchange). She goes on to explain how this will get me more calls and Yodle has all this ability to track my metadata (whatever that is).
At this point we’re at 35 minutes, and I’ve got stuff to do. She even notes «well we’ve went over a lot» (not really, we went over very simplistic stuff she just took forever). Then she talks about how I get discount on the price of this presentation if I sign up sooner rather than later (or something). We haven’t even talked price yet, and I’m thrown off because she mentions the price of the presentation. «Hold up, I thought you said there were no obligations for signing up by listening to this presentation?» I ask. She quickly stumbles but recovers: well no you don’t HAVE to sign up, but you SHOULD sign up today instead of later in order to get the blah-​blah-​blah discount. She then brings up how I mentioned someone else I share my office with and it sounds to her like he’s another «decisionmaker.» She says Yodle prefers to do sales with all decisionmakers present in order to not «waste time.» She goes on to ask me about putting my partner on the call right then and there, I say I will talk to him after the call. She then talks about scheduling a time for another meeting for myself and my partner together and I stop her immediately and say «look we haven’t talked price yet, and I want to hear about that first, as my partner and I will want to confer about all this.» She continues to ramble about how in order to «not waste time» it’s better to have «all decisionmakers» on the line at once, completely oblivious to the fact she’s wasting time by doing this. I straight up tell her she’s losing me and politely demand to know the price details. She again mentions «decisionmakers», doesn’t answer about price, and I tell her «You just lost me, goodbye.» Hung up. The email she said she sent finally arrived after that.
Sounds like I didn’t miss much. Yodle – change your tactics. Ill advised. And your owner/​manager commenting on each negative review? Doesn’t help, shows how crazy aggressive you are.

They lost my business in less than two minutes.
I got a phone call from what appeared to be a local phone number and I spoke with a gentleman by the name of Dave. He was nice and polite and offered me their services. I was actually genuinely interested so I scheduled a presentation the next day at 9am. He said it would take 20 minutes so I scheduled something for 10am. It was 9:40 and we were nowhere near done. I told him I had an appointment at 10 because he said they presentation would only take 20 minutes. He tried to convince me to sign up before I got off the phone but I told him I needed to hear the rest of the presentation. We rescheduled for the next morning.
The second day, we went through the rest of the presentation and it seemed like a pretty good deal but I simply couldn’t commit that day because of how I get paid for contracts and my wife is about to have a baby. So, I told Dave that I’d be able to do it in 5 days time. He tried to convince me by dropping from $ 300 to $ 200 a month. I told him it I’d still have to wait. He asked me if I could put it on a credit card. I was really ready to sign up because it seemed pretty good and I was even ready to pay with my personal credit card but I decided not to rush it and I told him, again, I’d have to wait. He kept trying to convince me that they could place me near the top of the organic and map results on Google and that I’d get my money back in 6 days! I kept saying that I’d have to think about it and he kept pushing and that’s when they started to lose me. I told Dave, that I was starting to get annoyed at his pushy attitude but he claimed that he was just enthusiastic. That’s when I decided to check these reviews and their BBB page while I still had him on the phone.
Finally, I told Dave that he was about to lose my business and I would hang up on him. He kept going trying to push me into signing up and I just hung up on him. It seems I dodged a bullet and I am glad I did and didn’t let him bully me into signing their contract.

Wow… after 2 phone calls to my husband’s business my husband informed them that he was no longer interested in signing up with Yodle. The agent got pretty agressive over the phone with my husband and even went as far as to tell him, «Wow you can’t afford $ 10.00 a week. That’s a shame.» If putting people down and bullying is your form of getting our business, keep it and move on with your scam self. STAY AWAY PEOPLE!!!

This review is not for service nor did I obtain services or enter into a contract with Yodle. This review is a detailed account and concern of events from Yodle Agent who cold called me.
Yodel called me yesterday and followed up today at 8AM. Armed with Unilocal reviews, I had them speak with our attorney about entering into a specific performance contact and the Yodel Agent could not get off the phone fast enough.

Terrible company. Just finished up with a 6– extended to 7– month contract/​gauntlet with them, which cost me $ 1500. Long story short, Yodle will aggressively get a sign up from you, if you give even the slightest inkling that you’re interested. DON’T SIGN UP FOR MORE INFO ONLINE. THEY WILL HOUND YOU RELENTLESSLY. Once they’ve got your payment info, they’ll get to work making you a third rate «infosite» which is a basic landing page with a suite of tools built in (contact management, mass mailing tools, very basic site visit analysis and hitcount for leads coming in) that you’re thrown into the deep-​end of using. No one from the company will ever check in on you and coach you. When calling to find out what they’re working on, they almost always take half a day to a full day to get back to you. Don’t even think about getting money back– won’t happen.
I won’t go so far as to call them scammers, but the preponderance of the evidence, as far as my experience (and many others’ as well) suggests something isn’t kosher.
Keep away from Yodle. If they’re not already embroiled in one, I predict a class action lawsuit some time in their future for deceptive practices.
STEER CLEAR.

Bad sales team, they try to force a sale on the spot with short presentation and if you say a need time to discuss with my team they became offensive. I was interested but because the way I was treated on the call, not anymore.

I am very frustrated with Yodle!
The past 4 months in a row, my pay-​per-​click numbers have gone down. This month my Organic has even taken a hit. I have had numerous calls and emails with Dan over there and he claims they have gone over my system and optimized it. In other words, they are getting me even less leads for my money. I have now gotten less leads this April than I did last year when according to them their system was still gaining traction and I was spending less. Why it was not optimized before or why it is not continually optimized is ridiculous!
I have numerous adds, photos and anything else they suggest on their system. I have the same zip codes that I have had the entire time. I have stayed on top of this since I have been a Mr. Electric.
I had gotten an internet call tracking number at the beginning, but for some reason they never connected their system to my number. They will not use the number I provided but insist on using their own even though they do not record the calls anymore. Then they connect to my number in the background and blame me for not having good analytics.
They also use very questionable marketing tactics. For people that do not know, Google does not like multiple pages for the same company. Yet Yodle insists on creating their own site with a different URL for pay-​per-​click programs. When I question their tactics, I have gotten push back and claims of my ignorance and their superior product and that EVERYONE is having success with THEIR methods.
Also I am told that when I increased my budget in Aug. (even though it didn’t take effect until my September bill) that it renewed my contract and that I am locked in for 12 months.
It seams to me that their system took a big hit when they were bought out. My suggestion for anyone considering Yodle to stay away!!!

This company has been calling the place I work at for several weeks now. We have told them several times we do not wish to use their service. Today they called and we informed them that we do not wish to use their service. Their sales person Libby refused to accept no for an answer and kept talking over us. We ended up hanging up on her. 5 minutes later a sales manager by the name of Lawrence called back to inquire if his sales associate offended us. We stated no she did not we just did not want to sign up. After telling him several times that we did not want to sign up he continued on over talking us. I would highly NOT recommend this company. Just the sales process totally turned us off of them. They were very rude and pushy.

Run far far away! I used this company paying over literally 2,000 grand only to complete one sale on business. I then asked this company to end my account in which three weeks later they charge me almost 500 dollars. Literally I thought I was making a secure and great investment only to find out it was the worst waste of time. Not only that they did nothing what was told I received two phone calls in which they promise to check on my account month to month. My social media sites were never updated. I called literally over 10 times checking on this product no answer. Worst waste of my time in my business! I regret my decision to even use this company! Had I went on Unilocal I would have never used them. If I did what they did to me in my own business I wouldn’t be in business long!!!

This is just a review on the sales process as I have decided not to use their service. I found yodle on a facebook ad and decided to look in to them. They seemed promising if the price was right, so I filled out the contact sheet on their site. A couple days later I received a call and they scheduled a online demonstration with me and this is where they lost my business.
I spent the first 10 min on a introduction and then he asked me a few questions before he continued. The first question was did I have any partners in the business? Which I replied no and he still felt the need to explain that he didn’t want to waste yodles time on extra presentations if there was anyone which I could have understood a little. Next he asked if after watching his presentation would I consider signing the contract today no matter what the price was? I explained that price had a huge factor on whether I thought it would be worth it for my company. He then told me it would be a couple hundred dollars then says $ 299 to be exact. I’m thinking thats practically $ 300 not a couple hundred. I told him thats not doable for me and then he says that if I signed today they could drop it to $ 199. I told him that I would have to evaluate if I thought yodles services were worth $ 200 and would not be making a decision on it today even if it was cheaper. I let him know I needed at least 24 hours to make a decision especially if its a contract based decision. I guess after that comment I wasn’t even worth showing a presentation to. He let me know that when I was ready to commit to this we could go over the presentation and sent me a link on what yodle could do for me.
To me this was really rude. Why would anyone say they’re going to commit to something like this if they don’t even get to see the original presentation that supposedly developed just for my business? That would be like me having a customer call me and I tell them they have to hire me before they can tell me their computer problems. Also from the reviews I have read, why would anyone pay that much for a website thats just a cookie cutter website that they throw my name on. I think that for much less money I can probably do just as well on my own without yodles help.

I wish I could give them no stars at all, this people ripped me off!
They had me pay a monthly quote for putting my business on the organic section
of google, they told me it would take 30 to 60 days and it never happened they later
said it would take 90 to 120 and still nothing happened after many calls and emails someone found out one of the representatives had canceled everything accidentally but still din’t take
responsibility and kept billing me for the service. They have no idea on how to advertise my suggestion is don’t hire this service you will loose your money and time

I’m sorry I got duped by this company. They talked me into an «adversite» that was completely useless. It was ugly and most importantly, did NOT get me new clients. It got me terrible phone calls and useless emails.
Then, after I canceled, they kept my site up for another 90 days without my permission. It received 1 (ONE) phone call in that entire time. What a waste. So now, that one caller didn’t get a call back from my office which could undermine my reputation AND that fact that only ONE call came through after 90 more days is definitive PROOF that the site does not work.
I know the pitch sound great and seems affordable. But I know that it was a waste of money and a waste of my time setting up the site, then canceling and now trying to cancel again. Hire a real website company and avoid Yodel at all costs.

I used Yodle and within months my business began to double, and I have actually been able to open another location without even using them for a full year yet. I also know they recently got acquired by
, and I think that has changed things for the better, if at all.
All great things! I would recommend this to all small business owners as a step toward advancement.

If you look at my other reviews you will see that I hardly EVER give a poor rating, however, I’m giving Yodle 1 star… this is why:
I just got off an hour long sales call with Jeremy from Yodle. Initially it sounded like a decent marketing pitch, but given where I am in terms of growing my therapy private practice I didn’t think that investing $ 300 per month was something that made sense for me. After trying to very politely explain that I did not think that it was a good idea for me at this time, the sales rep continued to cut me off and offered a rebuttal for every point I made in explaining why the service isn’t for me. I get that for sales rep half of their job is trying to counterpoint why you can’t buy their product, but it became so condescending that I ended up hanging up on him. At one point he actually said, «So you mean to tell me that you don’t have at least $ 249 right now?!» Sir, how I spend my money is my business. I did not ask for your unsolicited judgment. i explained over and over that while the idea sounds great, that I’m just starting out and and don’t have the capital for advertisement or the capacity to take on the clients needed to offset the expense. Before he became so overtly rude I had actually offered to make a referral to a friend in the same field who actually is trying to find ways to market her business, but after being so condescending FORGET IT.

I signed up for the service for 6 months. After the initial sales pitch and a welcome email, I didn’t hear from anyone again. 0 leads, 0 help setting everything up. I contacted them several times and finally got someone to call me back (apparently they had the incorrect phone number) and they promised me that they would do everything they could to get me a few leads (in the last month of my contract). Needless to say, I did not renew and definitely will not be spending any more money with them. Total waste of money.

I am in the service industry, a successful published author, and a highly-​rated professional with the finest references in my industry. Yodle is not working for me and I think the website they designed looks like trash — so much for their claim to be in web design. I can do better on my own. And the way they add the pictures to my site is simply poor design.
Thanks Yodle, for taking my $ 300 per month on a six-​month contract that isn’t worth a cup of warm spit — you are the only ones making money in this deal.

Been contacting me nonstop since November with multiple numbers. Even after telling them I was not interested, they simply change numbers and try again. Look, you’re in business, and you have to sell to make money. I get it. But when you call so often that a person feels compelled to leave a 1-​star rating on Unilocal,you might need to rethink your business strategy.

Yodle is awesome. Really helped my business get off the ground floor by making me be found on the front pages of google! I’m so pleased with their services, I recommend them to every business owner.
But if you’re running an obscure business, this probably won’t help you. People need to actually be looking for your services online for you to get their business.

I have a chiropractic office. I signed up with Yodle to help with my marketing and website presence. I paid approximately $ 1,200 to $ 1500 in the span of 4 months. When I tried to cancel it, they dropped the price from $ 299 to $ 99 per month. In the end, I canceled my subscription completely.
Did they put me on the first page of search engines? YES, but not Google; which is the search engine that matters most as of today. I was usually on the 4^th or 5^th page of Google.
Did I get any increase in leads? NO. I received mostly calls from sales people who found me on my yodle website and tried to sell me their products.
Did I get any customers through Yodle? YES. One, which generated $ 40 in sales.
In the end, my experience with Yodle was NEGATIVE. It was a waste of my investment. But I would not have known it if I hadn’t tried. Their customer service is good, but they are definitely in the SALES business. They try to «close you» during every conversation on the phone.
It works out for my other friends (according to them). But they have to spend $ 1200 to $ 2000 per month for their pay-​per-​click, and added special features.
If you don’t have that budget, maybe you should try other marketing strategies.
