Fuurin-Oka («Wind Bell Hill») Futon & Breakfast offers a very different experience from the traditional bed & breakfast. Nestled in a grove of bamboo, the private, detached guesthouse offers a view of the Olympics and is complete with its own Japanese garden, tatami mats, shoji screens, a cedar-lined o-furo room (‘the honored bath’).
Every morning, an organic, home-made breakfast is delivered to your door — special dietary restrictions are taken into consideration during preparation. The fruit trees provide figs, apples, peaches and grapes in abundance.
Fuurin-Oka Futon & Breakfast is a unique island getaway which combines the legacy of an ancient cultural heritage, along with some modern touches, to offer a memorable visit.
History
Established in 1998.
Renowned Island Architect Ron Konzak and his wife, Mickey Molnaire had fallen in love with Japan and wanted to bring the serenity they experienced there to the Bainbridge Island.
We took over the business in 2011, and brought our chicken coop (which means fresh eggs for your breakfast) and creative touches with us. The most important thing though, is that the heart of Fuurin-Oka remains exactly the same as when Ron & Mickey owned and ran it. It is a special place, full of warmth and peace.
