Phenomenal! Atmosphere is very relaxed, music is relaxing, service is excellent, and the food is beyond good. Not sure how you can make bacon and eggs so good, but they do it. Try it out, you won’t be disappointed!

One of my favorite breakfast places in the country!!! They have local coffee and homemade sausage all bought from local farms. Also good for vegetarians

It is not often you can say that pancakes were burnt and the bacon was still limp from a place specializing in breakfast. Maybe I got a bad batch as place was full a few minutes after opening on a Sunday and there were people waiting when I left. Place is cute with its single wrap around counter. They have gone all local with the now obligatory list of farms. All the fancy ingredients do not make up for bad cooking. The pancakes likely would have been average at best as they were thin and lifeless. Bacon actually was nice thick cut bacon with just a little more cooking time could have been good.

Fantastic breakfast, with most of the food, including the sausage, made in house. Seating can get crowded, however.

This place is great. I come here on the regular. I’m a fan of the sausage and the ingredients are always fresh. They take exceptional pride in their food sourcing, but at the same time, it’s not emphasized to the point of pretension. The omelettes are fantastic. They serve great coffee. I don’t explore their menu too much but it’s small enough that they are plausibly equally masterful at all of their dishes. This is the first and only place I’ve been to that serves beets chopped into their(sweet potato) hash browns, and I have to say, it’s an inspirational choice. The food preparation is a little inconsistent(I’ve had over-toasted bread and undercooked hash browns) and I feel like I’m always begging for coffee refills. If you’re like me and you need a solid 200 mg of caffeine in the morning, you may want to spring for a to-go coffee.

Great breakfast spot! Good coffee, good morning music, good service, great homemade sausages. I came to Baltimore of a rainy week, and a breakfast at their charming counter was the perfect start to 3 long conference days.

Jacks uses the best local ingredients & make their own sausage, ice cream, chips, granola & veggie patties. Sausage, egg & cheese was awesome! There are only 10 seats, all counter, with retro décor reminiscent of an old diner. Enter on Pleasant St around the corner.

We got the omelette of the day as brunch. Delicious. But the best part was getting tempted by the rhubarb pie at the cash desk. Oh wow! Now that I’m thinking of it, I so want another one.

I had the best omelet of my life here. The level of quality ingredients and craftsmanship in their omelet of the day exceed any breakfast I’ve ever had, and I like to think, I make a world class egg creation when inspired, but this dish was far and beyond any I’ve had at breakfast. Our visit was a bit unconventional, when we arrived, there was a true crime film shoot going on, they let us in, and we quietly sat in the three remaining stools at the counter, those old school chrome edged spinner stools from another century. We were served excellent coffee, and quietly observed as the multi camera shoot hovered around us to get the shot of the discussion they were filming. I took out my Samsung Note and drew letters on the screen, caught the eye of the producer and held it up, it read, «free breakfast?» and then made up sign language to illustrate that were sitting here and can’t talk, and was met with the nod of approval. Even if that hadn’t happened, this still would have been the best omelet I’ve ever eaten. When the owner/waiter placed the plate in front of me, I could see and smell right away what I was in for: fluffy real fresh farm eggs, farm raised pork sausage, folded in with artisanal havarti and sharp cheddar cheeses(from a Mennonite farm in PA, I have had cheese like this, it’s rare to find it outside of protected circles, not commercially available), and to top it off, the home fries were on a whole other level, inspired: not just potatoes, but root vegetables too, fresh carrot and beet, garlic, onion, heavenly. Next time I’m in Baltimore, I will come here most likely for this amazing food curated by an inspirational chef.

I gotta say, all the 5 star reviews are baffling. Sure the place is unique(maybe 15 stools at the counter) with the added mystique of being difficult to find, the whole«farm to table» I’m-saving-the-earth thing, and the not-entirely-clean-sixties vibe, the place *should* be great. In fact it *could* be great except for one thing: the food. I had eggs over easy with bacon toast and home fries. The eggs were cooked perfectly: runny yolk, slightly crispy whites around the edges. The problem? The eggs had a sheen of grease on them that was also visible on the plate. The bacon, which was thick cut and likewise cooked well, shared the same greasy sheen as my eggs but was also soggy with grease. The home fries were Lukewarm, soggy, under seasoned and greasy as well. The coffee and the toast were the highlight of my meal. We visited on a Friday about 10 am. There were about 8 people eating and we sat immediately. I will say that it was worth the one-time visit for the«Oh, look how cool I am» factor, but I would not return. And if I had to wait 30 minutes for a seat I think my review would be far less kind.

A friend and I came in on a weekday morning. We had no trouble looking for the place. The interior was unrefined yet cosy, the ambience gave us a homely feeling. Seating arrangement is by the counter. You don’t get private tables per se, so conversations with your friend may be a little more challenging. Oh they serve local produce? Win. Anyhow, the menu is written on the chalkboard for all to see. I went with a sausage, egg, and cheese English muffin while my friend did the omelet of the day. We didn’t need to wait long. Food presentation is top class. Both were naturally colorful, pleasing to the eyes. Worth every penny. These dishes, while humble in size, were perfectly seasoned. You can actually taste the difference. No need for extra condiments. Perfect start to a busy day.

Jack and Zack is exactly that, Jack in the front Zack in the back. Their secret little spot is a hidden treasure in Baltimore. Everything you would imagine an old fashion diner to look like. Food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the daily omelette with a side order of sausage and bacon. Excellent. Go there.

Pancakes were worth the wait! I had a major craving for proper pancakes, and this place hit the spot! Sausage was amazing, and clearly homemade, and everything else was delicious as well. This is a must eat!

Absolutely amazing. The surreal experience of entering through what looks like an abandoned building and seeing the cozy countertop, packed full of patrons, was delightful. The wait was a bit long, but was well worth the food. I had the sausage breakfast, and it was finger licking good. The potatoes were crunchy and soft, and well-seasoned. The sausage was tasty, and went well with the rest of the plate. The folks running the place were friendly, and took our orders promptly and accurately. I loved their coffee as well, nice to have free refills. It was a strong, and flavorful.

The location is a bit odd, it says N. Charles but it’s actually on the side street. Once making it in a limited menu offers you basic breakfast fare, but based on the flavors and quality of the food it’s worth the short collection of choices. I had the omelet of the day(house made sausage, kale, mushrooms, cheese) and it was delicious. Not the prettiest omelet but the flavor was spot on, and their sausage was quite tasty with just the right amount of heat. My only issue was the potatoes that came with the omelet. First, I thought they where a bit underdone, and also needed salt. The nice addition to the potatoes where thin slices of beet, which I never thought to add to morning potatoes. A nice sweet, earthy addition to the taters.

Small, hipster breakfast place in mt Vernon with excellent food. The menu is medium sized, and portions are a little small but the food isn’t too expensive. It’s actually probably the right amount of food but we often become accustomed to the huge brunch meals at other places that simply stuff you. The seating is around a square bar with stools, menu written on the board. The shake is a good compliment to any of the food and you sip through a paper straw. They accept credit card payment.

Jack and Zach’s is a quaint diner run by two young hipsters. The food is fresh, local and organic. Also, phenomenal coffee. I felt like I was stepping back in time to a simpler day. If I lived nearby, it be my usual spot. I ordered the omelet of the day with home fries. Very good — especially the home made sausage. The restaurant is small, only 12 seats total and all at the counter. No reservations. Service was fast and friendly, in spite of only two employees and a rush of people. I’m excited about coming back. Nothing fancy. Just good food and friendly service. What more could you want.

Very cute, cozy, counter-only spot. Not many items on the menu and food tastes simple, but simplicity is consistent throughout. Very good coffee. My side of pancake was sort of burned on one side and my eggs were more cooked than I had ordered, which were disappointing. It’s still a nicer place to have breakfast than many others in this area.

My fiancée and I had been intrigued by Jack and Zach for a while and finally had the opportunity to stop in yesterday. Once we walked over and found the place(easier said than done – just look around for the hand-painted signs) we were amazed at how tiny it actually. A small antechamber leading into a single room with a square counter around which were, at most, 12 – 13 stools. It was full when we got there, with a few customers in line in front of us, but we weren’t in any hurry and decided to wait. Good decision! It took about 20 minutes for spaces to open up, after which we sat, chatted with Jack(he was running the front end as Zach cooked, at least that day), and ordered coffee and food. I went with the sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich and she had a hummus sandwich. I would describe mine, with no hint of derision or irony, as the best Sausage McMuffin I’ve ever eaten(and who doesn’t succumb to occasional McD’s cravings?). Delicious breakfast sausage patty, a perfectly cooked egg, and what seemed to be havarti or another mild cheese melted over everything, all on an English muffin, served with home fries. One bite made it clear that the meal was worth the wait. The hummus sandwich, topped with fresh greens and pickled onions, was flavorful as well and came with amazing homemade potato chips. Total cost: ~$ 20. Awesome. I’d go back any time, if for no other reason than to sample the sausage and ingredient combinations they’re playing around with on a given day. Both of the owners seem genuinely invested in their food and restaurant, and it shows. Don’t be intimidated by the space – the food makes it all irrelevant!
