I came to naturopathic medicine soon after graduating from college. At the time, I was working in a natural health store, getting ready to apply to graduate school, and learning about the importance of nutrition.

At the same time, I was having increasingly frustrating experiences with the healthcare system. Many of my family members were dealing with serious health issues, and were struggling to reach the outcomes they wanted. I couldn’t imagine that this was the only way to go about things, and so I went looking for something better.

I heard about naturopathic medicine through the grapevine — a friend’s father had recently graduated from naturopathic medical school and was starting a practice in Connecticut. I read more about it, and knew that it was my calling in life. I was soon enrolled in basic science courses, and a few years later would be heading to Seattle to start school.
