Is this restaurant still open? I’ve walked by several times over the last few weeks, and it hasn’t been open.

Glad to see this addition to the neighborhood. However, it seems like they are still figuring a few things out… As other have mentioned, the ambiance is a bit weird. The front bar portion is SO dimly lit and the back part was very brightly lit. I wish they had more light to the front. Also, they evidently kept the sports bar feel because there were large screen TVs everywhere. We came in on a Friday night and it was really empty. They only had one server, who could have been a bit more attentive… However, he wasn’t the most efficient. We sat down at a table because no one was there when we first walked in, but it seemed like it hadn’t been bussed(e.g., there was a cup of water in the corner). Finally the server showed up. He said that none of their tap beers were available. When we asked what to order, we felt like he was pushing the more expensive items on the menu: the sampler and the Lucy. We ended up ordering that since it was too dimly lit to read the menu. Food-wise, both dishes were fine. They were flavorful. Our said that the Lucy was spicy, but it really wasn’t. I also thought that some pieces of meat were a bit tough for my liking. At some point, a «regular» came in and game over service. He spent the rest of the time talking, stopped coming by to check on us(it would have been nice to have my water re-filled) and we felt like we were interrupting him when we asked for the bill. I think that this might be better as a take-out spot.

I’m really glad another Ethiopian place opened up close by. The food was tasty and plentiful. They don’t give you much of the bread to start with, so you will most likely need to ask for more. I ordered the Vegetarian Combination which I split with a friend. There was more than enough food for both of us. The food also came out quickly.

Canton has needed more ethnic diversity in its restaurants, so we were pleased to see the new Ethiopian place finally open up behind Loading Dock. Wife and I were basically the only people there at 730pm on a Saturday. Not sure if that’s a sign of the service or just the fact that they are new to the area. Food was tasty and fast. I expect that most of it is cooked in advance and then rapidly reheated. The injera was standard injera. This isn’t the best Ethiopian you’ll ever have, but it’s closer than the Ethiopian places in DC /Silver Spring. Ambiance is odd. It’s dark, to the point that it’s hard to read the menu. It echoes and you can hear everything. But the place is pretty and has potential. So, the place has potential, but still has serious kinks to work out.

I’ve only had Ethiopian food once before, so I had no idea what to order. But we went with the vegetarian sampler and a lamb dish the waitress recommended. Everything was delicious! We’ll definitely be back!

They could move a bit quicker but they’re new so hopefully they iron out the kinks. Food is excellent. I’m glad to have them in the neighborhood.

Two words: delicious food! Came here on a cold winter night with my girlfriends! We had a wonderful time, the atmosphere was enjoyable, the service was excellent, and the food tasted amazing. My friends all agree! We will definitely be back!(I’m already craving their Doro Wet)

Just had dinner here with my family. The food was excellent, and the service was awesome. The waitress even told us about a groupon that was available. I will definitely come back.

I got the vegetarian sampler and hubs got zilzil tibs. Both get two thumbs up, and I liked that the sampler had so much variety. Service was great from our waitress/bartender– will definitely return.

Heard so many terrific recommendations from our neighbors on NextDoor that we decided to try it. Even after checking out the plates ordered by other customers, we still weren’t sure what to order. The owner put together a lovely«sampler» tray that had generous portions of: Yatakil Wot(sauteed potatoes and carrots), Zilzil Tibs(grilled beef with herbed butter and chili sauce — my favorite), Key Wot(beef with hot pepper sauce and Ethiopian spices — Dave’s favorite), Doro Wot(chicken with hot pepper sauce and spices — and oddly, a hard boiled egg in the same marinade), Gomen Besiga(beef & collard greens cooked with spices) and some Yetimatin Salad(chopped fresh tomatoes, hot peppers & onions in a light house dressing). All this piled on top of a giant slab Injera(kind of spongy flatbread) and three generous rolls of injera included on a side plate. More than plenty for the two of us. For those people who may be put off by foods meant to be eaten with your hands(well technically scooped up into pieces of the injera), they’ll happily provide utensils. And the menu can be a bit intimidating if you don’t know what«firfir» or «gomen» are. Don’t worry about it, the staff is happy to explain! Decent beverage selection, the night we went I think they had 5 on tap(Corona Light and Stella Cidre were our choices) and a fully stocked spirits bar. This is a neighborhood(walking distance) restaurant for us. Parking will be an issue for those not familiar with the area. However, it’s an easy and well-lit walk up from Boston Street where street parking can a be a little easier to find. We sat up front in the bar area but they do have additional seating in a back dining room for larger groups. I hope this place survives, it’s a nice change from the pizza and burger selections we normally have in the area.

Excellent food. Literally ate there 3 times this week. Atmosphere can be a bit hollow, but owners are nice and food more than makes up for it

FOOD: EXCELLENT Ethiopian. You can not go wrong with anything you order. However, the waitress had absolutely no clue about her own menu. She had no idea about the bar, wine offerings, anything. She could not explain the dishes on her own menu even in a simple form. SERVICE: One word: TERRIBLE. The food alone is 4.5 stars. The waitress made this experience slow and ridiculous. AMBIANCE: Pretty standard Canton street restaurant. Not divey. Clean. Not crowded. RETURN: I will only order in from this restaurant. I will not return to the physical location. Ordering in worked well for me! RECOMMEND: Order in… *** THISISANINITIALREVIEW. I really want to stress the food is great, the service in this early time frame will hopefully improve to increase the rating. I don’t want this place to shut down because I really like the option of Ethiopian in Canton.

Delicious Ethiopian food! Great happy hour special on beer — and they have DFH60 min on tap which goes well with the spicy food. I love the space — the bar is gorgeous hand carved wood. A good place to watch games, drink good beer, and eat amazing food. They do have a dining room in the back as well.

Very good service and phenomenal food. This type of cuisine is tough to come across and an awesome edition to the neighborhood. $ 3.00 draft beers until 8 makes for a great happy hour as well. Will definitely be back.
