The Purple Peach Nail & Weave Bar

My service was horrible. The owner Gia did my nails while she was drinking an alcoholic beverage. She did not know how to do no nail art, she was rude and with all the noise in the atmosphere it was ghetto. When I came and inquired about the prices she snapped at me about how they were on the board. The bathroom was disgusting and seemed unfinished. Very unhygienic. When I asked about nail art by hand she aggressively tried to convince me about some kind of foils and rhinestones. And she was quick to roll her eyes when I declined her offer. In the end I ended up with very basic nails that were definitely overpriced and overrated through their social media. I’ve been to better establishments with better service and prices.

If you want your nails done STAY AWAY! Now I am not one to leave a bad review but this I just had to share! I got my nails done (gel polish on a natural nail) literally 6 hours later the polish is CHIPPING! I mean chipping on at least 4 fingers. I have gotten gel for the past 2 years from another nail shop but a friend raves about this shop! PLEASE! It was literally the worst manicure I had gotten in my life a COMPLETE waste of money! If Unilocal allows pictures I will def show the proof! And these pics are from a 24 hour period! DONT MAKE THIS MISTAKE!!!

So I spoke with the owner «Gia» and told her about my issue and she tells me to come in when the nail tech returns from vacation. So I speak to the owner about coming in on a Tuesday. She says great and then I call again (that Tuesday) to confirm the appt. «Gia» says its all okay and I confirmed my time. Then guess what… I get to the place and they are in a meeting and can I come back.
Honestly I am a sucker for a black business however, STAY AWAY from them!!! Unprofessional and just a waste of money. They got my $ 60 but never ever ever ever ever again! Use this review and SAVE YOURSELF and your MONEY!

Make sure you call ahead and specifically ask if they take credit card. I called to confirm there was availability for me to come in and no one mentioned that their machine was down. When I got there, they said the machine is down and that’s what they’ve been telling everyone.
Unfortunately I only had my credit card on me and their only suggestion was to use an ATM. I tried to explain that I have a restriction on my visa that prevents me from withdrawing cash in a foreign country as I’m not from the U.S. (moved here 4 days ago). They proceeded to ask how I’m even living here if I don’t have American cash on me and that they wouldn’t be able to take my card anyway because it’s a Canadian credit card…
I would have gone back a different time to get my nails done but I didn’t appreciate the rude and unwelcoming attitude. Maybe a great place for locals but they were not happy to have a non-​American.

It was ok. They are not in any kind of hurry. Stopped in on my lunch break to get the «express» pedicure and it took about an hour and a half. Staff was nice. Surcharge on credit cards… When will businesses understand that this is the price fondling business and if you pass that cost along to me it’s in bad taste.

Typically I’m thrilled to support black owned businesses… not in this case. The owner a full figured woman with a bold hairstyle was very rude to a girlfriend and I the moment we walked into the door at 5 o’clock. There was no greeting, we were asked why we were there we responded then we were told she had ONE person in front of us which we felt was reasonable. About an hour and half goes by the owner looks over and says come over here so I can get you prepped, my response ‘who me?’ She says ‘uh yes!’ I’m thinking ok wow she then insults my friend and says who did those nails why bash another nail techs work makes you look so tacky. Anyway my friend goes to get her pedicure by Landon. The owner puts the tips on my nails then says I have to finish her other customer at this point irritates me because it’s now close to 7:30pm. My friend is done her pedicure I say to the owner I’m leaving how much do I owe you for the tips there was no acrylic or polish literally just tips and she says unfortunately you must pay for your entire service. My fiancé is a cop and I knew if the cops would of be called had I not paid that they would Of made me. Her unprofessionalism is beyond me. It’s terrible when project women save there welfare checks and open a business and have no idea how to run them. I wouldn’t recommend this lady to do your nails for free at jones junction she’s awful. Landon was the best thing about that place and I suggest he finds a new places of employment he’s too good to work there… TO THE OWNER MAY I SUGGEST A BUSINESS MANAGEMENT CLASS OR TWO OR THREE… God bless

I’m literally in the middle of getting my nails done here and I had to get on and review. The guy doing my nails is so sweet and funny. I told him to do whatever he wants on my nails and he’s so excited that I’m excited. It doesn’t seem at all like he’s doing this for his job, it really seems like he’s enjoying it, which makes me enjoy it even more. He said he was going to do polka dots, so I was a bit nervous that it would be a really simple design, kind of a cop out, but he’s doing a really intricate, beautiful design. For only $ 5 extra, especially when a pedicure is $ 25 to start with, it’s totally worth it. I’ve been to places where it’s $ 50+ for a worse pedicure, without a design, and no fun banter with the staff. If you get Donny, he’s the best ever and if you’re willing, let him have «creative control» as he put it, and you’ll be sure to get a killer pedicure.

I’m a sucker for African American owned businesses. Upon entry everything was wonderful. The décor was pretty and ladylike. Waited about a ½ hour before I was in the chair. Landon, who was wonderful did my gel polish $ 15. He was personable and talkative without being too talkative; just enough to hold a conversation.
Now onto my eyebrow waxing $ 10. $ 7 at my regular Asian lady and $ 8 at my Caucasian Brazilian wax lady. But whatever cuz I try to support my own. For starters, the young lady who did my eyebrows appeared to have a bit of an attitude as if I was an inconvenience. Plus, the chair for eyebrow waxing has a very low back so i basically had to hold my head back (nothing to rest it on) the whole time. Needless to say my neck was killing me by the time I left. So I had to put up with her attitude and a stiff neck all for a horrible overpriced waxing. And I get that I’m not a fan of the tweezers, however, I’ve grown accustomed to the hair being pulled out strand by strand with the tweezers, not all the strands that need to be pulled at one time. Yes, that hurt like hell. Ok so now I’m looking in the mirror and I’m so irritated I just paid (cash) and left. $ 2.70 surcharge if you use a credit card. Got home and clearly looked at my eyes and realized strands that still needed to be pulled, some areas were missed with the wax and there’s know shape/​arch at all. She literally just «cleaned them up» like she said she would. Thank goodness for makeup because I can disguise her horrible job until I go back to my regular.
All in all I probably will use this place as a backup considering they open later than usual shops and on Sundays as well but only for a gel polish and with Landon. And even in that instance it would have to be an emergency because their gel polishes were very limited. I didn’t see any new spring/​summer colors. I’m an every 2 weeks change colors kind of girl so I’m very familiar with the old and new colors. Their colors were roughly 2 – 3 years old.
My girlfriend got a pedicure by the same girl who did my eyebrows. She originally said she wanted her nails and feet done but since she was pressed for time she could only get her feet done and after she said that she said that the demeanor of the girl who did her pedicure did change. Maybe that’s the reason she gave me so much attitude. She said it felt weird getting a pedicure in a bucket without the bubbly water and the young lady seemed uncomfortable doing her feet. As a matter of fact she polished her toes as if she was a kid coloring and trying to stay within the lines. She also said that the young lady was picking at her feet as if she was her child and used her pinky to go under her toenails. And the job itself was just ok. Not good enough to return though.
They do offer you wine, fruit water or a cupcake from Safeway grocery store. I thought that was a nice touch. Don’t know if they have a liquor license though. I’ve read on here that you also get a free Hookah if you spend more than $ 50. Thank goodness nobody was smoking it while I was there.
5 stars for Landon but 3 stars as a whole.

I usually don’t write reviews on anything but this place did a really great nails. It’s so convenient to me & it’s black owned which is what made me go in the first place! I felt really comfortable, the service is great, they offer you water, wine, cupcakes while you wait & the length of my nail is perfect for work but the style is so cute. Usual when I go anywhere else the length is still too long and they won’t cut it any shorter. This is my first gel set and I must say I’m in love! I will definitely be back with more people!

First time here and I loved it. Landon was my nail tech he was very friendly and did an awesome job on my gel mani & pedi, as I sipped on complimentary moscato and a delicious cupcake. The make up artist/​hair stylist waxed my brows also so yes I enjoyed my time at purple peach. They have gained a new customer with me, and I’ve reccomended 3 friends already.

I used to use a salon (in Mondawmin) that eventually left me with thinned nails and a fungus on my toesies! Yuck! Trying to save a few extra dollars literally cost me my health. I came here, did not wait long at all and the Marilyn Monroe pedi was awesome! Best thing about it I told my tech Gia my reluctance with using nail salons and she explained that she doesn’t use spa foot tubs because the germs build up in the jets and blast right out on the next customer. (Never thought of that huh?) She even used new/​replaceable tools for my entire service and took the time to explain why those other salons cause so much natural nail damage. My suggestion: stop settling for those unsanitary cheese graters on your heels and treat your hands and toes right!

We walked in at just the right time today. One person was ahead of my friend and me so I sat down pretty quickly, and then another nail tech came in and was able to take my friend at the same time. This is one of the best gel manicures I’ve had. The lacquer is cleanly on my nails, no polish on my fingers, and my nails are nicely shaped. Not too square, super classy. Very happy to have this incredibly friendly salon in my neighborhood. We laughed and enjoyed chatting. Definitely give the Purple Peach a try. Walk-​ins welcome.

Great atmosphere, nice people. The person that did my toes was friendly and thorough. I had a great experience there and fully intend to make it my regular place for pedicures. I highly recommend!

I would not recommend. I was excited to go here because I heard great reviews about it but it did not live up to
It’s expectations. I left with half painted nails & a bleeding pinky. The nail tech didn’t so much as utter an apology for making my finger bleed by trying the scrap off the gel nail polish that she painted on my skin. It took the longest time & the tech was not friendly or professional, playing songs with the most offensive messages from her cell phone. Very disappointed.
