Mike and his guys are THE BEST! We purchased a home in La Grange last year and were under the gun to get all the work done before our home getting painted and us moving in. He is knowledgable, courteous and On Time!!! He is always happy to help on follow up or warranty work. Mike will not sell you a product or service you dont need. Cant say enough about Mike and his Crew! If he was my Dr. i would want my beating heart in his hands!!!

Mike is amazing. His company is high end amazing sound systems yet he is accommodating to the small guy. We acquired a home theatre system that was highly valued but not working for us. Mike came in and not only fixed all inputs but took the time to teach us and ensure we knew how to work. He is professional, knowledgeable and the real deal!

I had just moved into my apartment and needed a receiver and way to connect to the existing surround sound speakers that were already installed. I called three different companies — I wanted a bare bones, affordable receiver that would simply do what I needed it to — allow me to play music or the television through the speakers.
The first three companies were insanely expensive (like $ 3K) and tried to up-​sell me at every turn (no I do not need a $ 300 remote control the size of my laptop, thank you very much!). I got the feeling I was being taken advantage of and was discouraged when I received an ad in the mail advertising for Unique Wiring Solutions. I figured I had nothing to lose and gave them a call.
Mike was very kind, knowledgable and helpful over the phone. I explained that I wanted a nice receiver but didn’t want to pay a thousand dollars. He understood and found a very reasonably priced, well built receiver for me. I decided right then I would go with UWS. Mike ended up charging me the same price as Amazon for the receiver (which impressed me) and set it up efficiently and quickly. He took the time to make sure I understood how it worked and was extremely helpful with all of my questions (and I had a lot).
The next order of business was a wireless function so I could play music through my iPhone to my speakers throughout my apartment. Well, my receiver didn’t have wireless built in (most that are under $ 1,000 do not have this function unfortunately) but Mike had a solution. He installed a Panasonic wireless router to my receiver (not sure if I’m using the right terminology!) and … it did not work. Mike was at my apartment for close to two hours that day trying to troubleshoot, on the phone with Panasonic, researching online forums, all in the effort to fix this issue. After a lot of back and forth, he deemed the Panasonic router was a dud and said he would return with a brand new one, hoping that would do the trick.
About a month of texting back and forth to try and coordinate schedules (Mike can be hard to nail down but if you continue to text him he will eventually get back to you), Mike returned with a new Panasonic router as promised. Long story short, this one took another hour of troubleshooting but eventually worked! I was thrilled, we shook hands, and I thought that was the last I would see of Mike.
About two weeks after we finally got the Panasonic wireless thing to work, our power went out and the thing decided to stop working too. After troubleshooting of my own, calling Panasonic and pouring over the user manual, I decided to text Mike to see if there was anything he could do. I knew it was a shot in the dark because technically his job was sort of done and anything beyond that was just goodwill. Well, he came through in a very big way.
He came over to assess the situation (if you’re keeping track, this is now the third visit Mike has made) and after trying a few different things, concluded that this Panasonic wireless router was a lost cause and he would switch it out with a different one AT NO COST to me. Two days later (his fourth visit) he came over with the new router and had it up and running in about 15 minutes.
I couldn’t believe how patient, courteous and genuinely kind Mike was throughout this entire frustrating process. There were many times when most service companies would simply throw their hands up and say they tried but there was nothing more they could do. Not Mike! He kept trying and trying until he found something that worked, when he really didn’t «have» to. I only paid him after the first visit for the receiver and his time that day. All of his time and visits beyond that were simply out of the kindness of his heart.
If you’re looking for someone who is transparent, honest, will work tirelessly for their customers and not give up until they find the best solution, look no further. It goes without saying that I will use Unique Wiring Solutions for any and all of my future technological needs and highly, highly recommend them.

Very disappointed. Mike said he would come check out my apartment today, but was a total no-​show. Didn’t pick up the phone, didn’t answer my messages, etc.
What a waste of time.

Mike did a fantastic job. He showed up and did a great job installing the new components and then trouble shooting the system so that everything worked perfectly. Highly recommend

When we bought our home last year we had an all-​in-​one electrician/​low-​voltage guy take care of various projects before moving in. He did a fantastic job in our main media room in the basement, but did an absolutely horrible job in our secondary living room. He ran an HDMI cable in the wall over our fireplace and damaged it in the process. We were stuck with this bad cable in the wall for the past year. Jagged holes cut in the plaster with various wires hanging out everywhere as well. We cut our losses and parted on bad terms, stuck with our secondary living room in disrepair for the past year.
Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago. We finally had funds to repair and finish the work so I wanted to make sure we got the right guys in this time. I called around to probably 12 different installers in the Chicago-​land area and most did not give me a fuzzy feeling on the phone. I had a few simple tasks to take care of and purchased a set of speakers I wanted mounted on the wall. Most of the installers were trying to push their equipment on me and sell me stuff I wasn’t interested in.
When I talked to Mike from Unique Wiring Solutions on the phone the first time I was very impressed. He was driving to a job, but pulled over and took the time to talk about my project. He was super professional and knowledgeable. When I let him know I had purchased my own set of speakers to install, he didn’t try to sell me some other equipment they might be more familiar with. He said, «No problem!»
I was in need of a receiver as well and they were able to get me a great deal in a pinch on the Denon AVR-​791 I wanted. They picked up all the wall plates and covers I wanted to hide the various cables hanging out of the walls running to the subwoofer and receiver.
We setup the appointment for a week after our first conversation. Through-​out the next week we exchanged emails discussing the final details for the project and he was happy to oblige all my requests. We talked on the phone 2 more times before the install day. The amount of communication I received was spectacular.
They arrived on the install day on-​time and came ready to work. I had sent them pictures previously so they already had a good idea of the room layout. I’m a huge AV nerd myself and perfectionist when it comes to this stuff, so it was hard for me not to hover while they were working. I decided to play with our dogs in the backyard while they worked and they stopped a few times to run some questions by me to verify the placement of the speakers, where I wanted the cables to come out of the wall, etc.
They were finished with 1.5 hours! The speakers were perfectly centered with the TV, everything was measured perfectly. They even ran three CAT5 cables to the TV without me asking, no extra charge. This will insure an easy upgrade path as more HDMI specs are released in the future.
They cleaned up all the dust and dirt from cutting in the dry wall and when they left there was nothing for me to clean up. They even hung around a bit and geeked out with me talking about some of the upgrades I want to do in our main media room in the basement later this year.
I will definitely be calling them back in the future when I have funds to finish out some of the other AV projects in my house. If you have AV or low-​voltage work that needs to be done in your home, don’t hesitate to call these guys. If they can leave this AV perfectionist smiling at the end of the day, then there’s no doubt in my mind they can handle anyone else’s needs.

I just had my TV mounted over my fireplace by Unique Wiring Solutions. These guys are fantastic! Here are the reasons:
1) Mike was able to accommodate my tight schedule and get everything set up in less than one week. Other companies I had quotes from seemed to brush me aside since I wasn’t a large order
2) Their price was very reasonable. I paid less for the bracket, installation, and 2 HDMI cables from Unique Wiring than I would have paid for installation alone from Best Buy
3) The installers were friendly and courteous. They removed their shoes, laid down mats, and vacuumed when they completed.
I highly recommend the services of Unique Wiring Solutions. They’re great guys who are excellent at what they do.

These guys really are as good as it gets.
I had a number of electronic based jobs that I wanted to get done to my new place and wasn’t sure if going through an electrician or someone more specialized like Unique Wiring Solutions would be the best way to go. I did my research on Unilocal and a few other places and eventually had a bunch of companies come in to give estimates.
I wanted a new TV mounted and the wires run through the walls. I wanted some poorly placed in wall speaker wires moved. A cable outlet moved to a more conducive location. HDMI run through my bathroom cabinet to the TV I have in there and lastly a speaker installed in the ceiling of my enclosed shower. Yes, I am a bit of a techy.
Paul was the guy that I felt most comfortable working in my house and he was the cheapest as well.
Everything looks great and works perfectly. The guys did a great job cleaning up afterwards and have since followed up, which is nice.
These guys know what they are doing and don’t of charge because with it. I highly recommend.
