Alan came to my house to see if I could add a second zone to my heating. He took a piece from my damper and told me he would try to find a replacement. After a few weeks I called him and asked him to return the piece. He told me he would leave it in the mailbox. He never did. He did not return any message. I went to his house with the police but he was not home. I will now contact consumer affairs and small claims court. Do not contact them unless you like being scammed.

Alan and Andrew were absolutely amazing. I called them yesterday and explained that my AC unit had stopped working. They scheduled an appointment for later the same day to check out the problem, yes the same day. Alan called when he was on his way and soon after they got to work. After fiddling with the unit for a good 45 minutes Alan came in and explained everything that was going on. Alan was thorough, knowledgeable and patient (my husband and I asked the same questions, how annoying are we) and made sure we understood exactly what was wrong and what needed to be done. He told us they needed to order piece and they would return today. As promised they returned today with the additional pieces and spent a decent amount of time assuring that the system was working 100%. Their customer service and knowledge was second to none and their prices were extremely affordable. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone that needs work on their AC unit and if any heating/​cooling or plumbing need was to arise I would call them without a second thought!

After giving Alan and his brother Andrew a large deposit, they failed to ever perform any work in the contract. I had to hire another contractor to perform their work and keep my schedule on track with the client. I am now suing them in civil court to recover my deposit. They have been a nightmare to deal with and I would definitely not recommend them for any service whatsoever.

I write this review as I sit in my non-​air conditioned apartment.
I’m basing this review solely on customer service as we never were able to receive the actual service.
Our airconditioning was leaking water inside the house over the weekend so we decided we needed to call someone to look at it.
Read the Unilocal reviews, called Monday night to see if they could come. the first call to them was almost 10pm at night. no one answered though their Unilocal ‘store’ hours are until midnight. they called back pretty much right away and said it was $ 100 to look at it… so we made an appointment for the next day at 6:15.
I was on the train home when I ran into some delays on Tuesday so I figured I’d call them and let them know I’m running a few minutes late (I literally walked in my door at 6:16). I called about 10 minutes prior to my appointment time and the guy was like oh okay, no problem, I just got a flat tire so I’m running late as well…
An hour and a half passes and no call/​status update if they were still coming. we tried calling them on my husbands number and no answer (we’d given it to them the night before) so we tried on my phone. they picked up on my call (we’d called from my phone the night before) and asked if they were still coming and they said no and we rescheduled to Wednesday afternoon. giving them the benefit of the doubt that they were having a bad day and didn’t call us back to let us know their status.
Here we are on Wednesday. My husband took off work so he could be here for when the guys came. we decided by late morning if they were going to come look at the ac, we might as well replace it because it’s a pretty old unit. so we wanted to get a price quote on a new ac.
My husband called them a couple times and no one was answering /​it would go to (a FULL) voicemail. my husband called me and said he was unable to get in touch with them… so I called… and they picked up. I told them my husband needs to speak to them before they come, please call him on his cell…
An hour or two goes by and they never call him. so I threeway called from my phone. they pick up. they talk to my husband and said they would call him back on his cell phone with a quote.
Here rolls in almost 8PM at night. the guy TEXTS me a quote referencing someone named Gary saying he can’t find his number (my husbands name is NOT Gary) .no apology and just to call him back to discuss.
(Already) Long story short, we went to PC Richards as soon as I got out of work because we’d not heard back from them. we have someone coming Saturday to set this thing up. took a total of a half hour to order and set the appointment up.
I get that people get busy, I get that things fall through the cracks, I get that you’re a small business but there is a right and wrong way to deal with customers and this was definitely NOT the right way.
A simple «I’m sorry, I’m busy and won’t be able to get to this right away» would have sufficed. we had a 2:00 appointment today — if we’d not called to get a quote, would they have even come?
For all parties involved, time is money and my husband wasted a day off with his thumb up his butt waiting around for nothing. so they will not be getting any (more) of our time or any of our money. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone I know.

My daughter and son in law came to town… they live in a country that is a
desert. So of course they are here on Long Island during a mini heat wave
staying at his mom house he calls me flipping out because he is roasting.
Basically, central AC stopped blowing cold air, they called a company nearby
to come look at it, gave an estimate of well over $ 1000 to fix it. I say lets go
to my trusty Unilocal app and see who we can find. HVAC servicing, and found Air Tech
(Alan and his brother Andrew). They came over the next day. Worked diligently
until they found the issue (wires corroded, caused a short breaking
transformer), replaced the part, and fixed all the wiring, for about ¹⁄₃ of the
price the first guys wanted. We were EXTREMELY impressed with how hard they
worked and how honest they were, that we hired them again for another 2 – 3 hvac
issues around the house. extremely reasonable pricing. very honest — didn’t
force anything, did a bunch of things for free (got rid of bee hive, cleaned out
a nasty duct). In short: we were extremely pleased with them. They know their
stuff, and really give it all they got. They do have a little bit of a timing
issue (delaying/​postponing appointments), but it’s worth it. Give them a shot we
were very happy and the son in law wasn’t roasted.

Great guys and very knowledgeable. Explained to me what the problems were and took the extra time to get it right. One of my tenant’s 30 year old boiler’s gas valve was broken and the part was no longer produced by the manufacturer. They were able to find the correct replacement part and repaired it in a timely manner, even itemize the prices and was able to work within my budget. Highly recommended.

Alan and his brother is truly exceptional! I needed to fix a few air conditioners and replace a few others. They definitely do their best to explain with as much detail what needs to be fixed or replaced. They also took a quick look at my heating system as they did not trust the shotty job that the previous person did with my A C (and he did my heat as well).
There was a fix that needed to be made and they did it.
They work quickly and professionally never invading your space. They dint force their recommendations on you and will work within your budget.
I would recommend them to anyone needing HVAC service

After reading reviews I called to make an appointment for my HVAC unit, they guy said he’d call me back, he didnt but I figured Id try again and called him. We scheduled a date to have him come give me an estimate on a cleaning of the vents of my central air unit, he never called to confirm so I called him the morning of he said he was coming. He did not show and then did not answer any of phone calls. I wasted my Saturday afternoon waiting, when I could have had a another company come in and do it. I am really disappointed and frustrated. I have actually never written a review before but since buying my first home and moving in a month ago I have relied on Unilocal people experiences.

STAY AWAY! COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL — TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUN!
I looked at all the great reviews Air Tech and Alan have on here and called Alan to come take a look at 2 HVAC units in my apartment that needed maintenance. He charged a $ 175 diagnostic and told me both units needed parts — the first needed a new valve since it was operating at high pressure and the other needed an additional «jump start» since it was operating at higher voltage than recommended.
Based on the reviews here and his confident manner I told him to go ahead and buy the parts. He called a day later and quoted $ 75 for one part, $ 225 for the other. I said go ahead. He came a day after that and installed both parts. He charged me almost $ 475 including parts and labor for both installations (parts costs + $ 175 labor)
At this point I was out about $ 650 but assumed both problems were solved. Worth it. Right? WRONG. Both units stopped functioning correctly within three days.
I called Alan back and he said perhaps it was a different part in each — that would have been his «second guess» after he spoke to the manufacturer. I still gave him the benefit of the doubt and told him to go ahead and buy the part.
It’s now been three weeks. Despite repeated exchanged messages, scheduled times when I’ve taken time off from work, and phone calls nobody has shown up. Now my calls are being avoided.
This is unprofessional — and in the worst way possible. A problem was paid to be fixed — it hasn’t been fixed. And there is no follow up on the horizon. I will be suing Air Tech Mechanical in small claims court to recoup the $ 650 I spent for absolutely nothing and will seek additional damages for lost time at work. And I am going to be looking for somebody else that has the decency to complete what they sign up to do.
STAY AWAY — the 5 star reviews on here are all for quick solution problems that were solved the first time around — because they were obvious. If you happen to have an actual problem that needs a knowledgeable professional these are not the guys that will see it through. They’ll take your cash, and if they don’t fix it in 1 — 2 visits they’ll just stop taking your calls.

Great, reliable service. Thanks to the reviews on Unilocal,we were able to find these guys. We had issues with our boiler thermostat and called them late in the day. They were nice enough to come even after their own business hours to come and help us. They were very kind and courteous. Their prices are typical but some companies charge you the going rate and are not personable or friendly. These guys went above and beyond. We will definitely be using them again and will always consider them first when referring them to friends and family. Highly suggested!

I’ve had this account for 5 years and have used it to find good businesses from time to time. This is the first company to actually inspire me to write a review myself. Like the other reviews said, they are professional with fair prices. What I want to add is they are very knowledgeable and refreshingly respectful to a homeowner – just a really good couple of guys. In my experience, trust in the contracting business is hard to come by and these guys are doing it right in a time where larger companies feel the need to overprice with the excuse of their self-​imposed overhead. That business model loses them money in the long run because it will always be the businesses like Air Tech that earn my money in the end. They installed my ductless air conditioning unit but now that I know they do heating too, they will be the ones I call when my boiler acts up. Again, great guys and a great experience.

Just as the reviews said (thank you Unilocal once again…) Alan and his brother (they work as a team) arrived at our house exactly when they said and they also confirmed that they were on their way. They addressed our problem with the AC units efficiently and serviced all the units and they made recommendations for improving the longevity etc. Highly recommend.

Ive gone through over 12 different ac guys in nyc. They all rip you off and never properly diagnosed my leak. These guys are the best I’ve come across. They were the first ones that helped me figure out my problem. They are ethical and polite and timely. I only give them 4 stars and not 5 because they haven’t replaced my compressor yet. They do it this week but i know everything will be perfect. Ill post an update once done. I am so relieved to have found them.

This company provided excellent service to my office air conditioning system today in a prompt and most professional manner. I called them at about 4 PM today and was pleasantly surprised to learn that they would be there in 40 minutes. Alan diagnosed the problem right away and was able to repair it to full working condition. The rates were reasonable especially considering the immediate attention I received. I would highly recommend Air Tech Mechanical to anyone seeking central AC repair.
