History

Established in 2010.

The history emerges out of the Decordova Museum school which shut down in 2011. Scott’s Stone Carving & Art Center grew out of a need for people to have a focused space/​time to learn/​focus on the ancient art of stone sculpture! It has been in several locations over the past four years, the latest incarnation is at the end of the Minute Man Bike Trail at historic Bedford Depot in Beford MA

Scott graduated the University of Vermont with a degree in fine art in the late nineties. Upon graduation he moved into the carving community in central Vermont. While working as a resident sculptor at the Vermont Marble exhibit he carved a five thousand pound block of Vermont Marble. In 2000 Scott relocated to the Boston area where he started exhibiting his work in many galleries and Universities in the area. He is a member of The New England Sculptors Association and has been teaching stone sculpture for over ten years at several major sculptural institutions in the Boston area. His teaching approach is well regarded and he seeks to unlock his students fascination for the stone carving process. In 2010 Scott created Scott’s Stone Carving Classes & Art Center and continues to instruct people in the fine art of stone scultpure!
