I really liked this place. Everything while I was there made it feel like I stumbled upon a local favorite. The fireplace had a fire roaring. A gentleman was playing the violin. The barista had electric blue hair. Most importantly the coffee was prepared well and the backed goods had me questioning if I really needed to loose weight or should I throw caution to the wind and eat everything they had.

This is the best coffee shop in Bellingham. While the seating is a bit awkward, and the space is not perfect, it has a few huge advantages. In the winter, there is always a real fire burning in the fireplace. There’s a wonderful community of regulars. Anyone is welcome to tend the fire. Plus, the coffee is exceptional. They use beans from Fonte in Seattle. And they’re delicious. The milk is always steamed well. If you’re a fan is Chai Lattes, they make their own Chai here. And it is delicious. The cookies/pastries are great too. The $ 1 chocolate chip cookies are hard to resist.

Lovely spot, love the real fireplace. Great place to sit with a friend or a laptop and have a coffee, and also a great place to catch a local performance. Get there early depending on the show as sometimes they sell out.

After reading the reviews here, I expected an amazing coffee house experience. It was lackluster. I appreciated the multi-use coffee/performance space to be sure. I loved the open(no screen!) fireplace and prayer flags on the amazing tree out back too. I just wished the coffee were better, or at least less expensive($ 3 for a single cap). I also wish the establishment stood out more from the street; we really had to hunt for it a bit. Maybe they want to keep the non-Southsiders away. It wouldn’t take much to bump this up to 4 or 5 stars. Perhaps start by having a secondary menu within sight of the order counter. I remain hopeful!

I’ve only had the coffee here once, so I can’t comment on the baked goods or any of the other offerings. While the single latte I ordered was good, it was by no means great, and considering that I paid $ 3 for a seven ounce cup I feel that the quality of the drink should far surpass Starbucks, which it definitely did not.

This place was excellent. The service was warm and inviting, the baked goods are homemade and the coffee is perfect. We were told this is a one woman show. She runs the place, makes the coffee and bakes the small batch pastries herself. We were really blown away with the quality and flavors we were getting. I wish I could say try the so-and-so cake, but it always seemed to be different. Whatever the quiche is get it.

Discovered this place about 2 months ago and I am enamored. Kind baristas that remember you, your preferences. There’s an open fireplace that uses REAL wood. Hot coffee made right + wood fire + yummy baked goods = cuddly bliss haven.

I lived in Southside from 2005 to 2006. I only went to the Fire House a couple of times for shows. I saw a Thelonious Monk jazz trio and some other show. I don’t remember trying the coffee. It is a great venue to catch a play or a concert.

move over Tony’s, Fire House will give you competition for«Best Coffee Shop in Fairhaven.» 3 excellent baristas focus on making perfect espresso drinks. Fire House is a coffee shop that only does coffee — they focus on coffee, they take the time, and they do it right. [update: May 2007] The Firehouse now serves breakfast and lunch food, as well as the good coffee drinks. new manager Karina has had professional chef training and she puts together some unbelievable home made pastries, soups, and sandwiches: different things every day, and always good. Try her quiche in pastry shells that she rolls out and bakes right on site.(Come early — the quiche gets eaten the minute it comes out of the oven.) And how about today’s strawberry-rhubarb pie? YUM!
