My husband and I used to be big Bob Evan’s fans until we looked up a review on the Old Croydon Café and that became our new spot. Recently we felt like staying local and went back to Bob Evan’s …big mistake. I guess we got a taste of a real breakfast and Bob Evan’s food was disgusting. The waitress was so slow, and my husband had to hunt her down for more coffee. We haven’t been back since and don’t plan on returning. Take the drive and check out Old Croydon Café… fantastic food, friendly staff, even the owners are there to greet you.

To pricey for the bad food and bad service we got from our experience. First time here and last Took forever to get our food, pretty empty restaurant and it was just me and my wife going out to enjoy a breakfast! They sit us right next to a loud family that had kids running around our table like wild animals, cups were empty most of the time didn’t check on us to see if we wanted something else or if we were ok. Food we got wasn’t much to brag about and portions we received with our meals wasn’t much considering the price I was still hungry when I left

Took 15 mins to finally have our order taken… Sat at our table for 10 mins before we were approached by anyone in a section where our waitress walked by us 3 times. The food here is good n cheap but this service was absolutely horrendous to the point that this is the first time I have ever left a review on here!

We went here is because my mom took my daughter to Toys R Us at Franklin Mills to buy her a toy for her birthday that just passed. It was a Saturday night, so you would expect any restaurant to be busy, but it wasn’t. There were about 12 cars in the lot, and I assume some of them were staff. We just got done dragging 3 kids around for a couple hours, and we were all very hungry. We had to wait about 20 mins to be seated in an empty restaurant. I guess that should have been our first clue. Let me say that our waitress did nothing wrong. She was really trying, and she was attentive. She did everything in her power to make us have a good experience, except for providing us with straws for our drinks, but we aren’t stuck up, so we just drank out of the glasses. The real problem came with the food. I ordered a chicken fried steak breakfast with loaded hash browns. My girlfriend ordered a sunshine, or sunrise skillet(?), and my mother ordered a 5 cheese grilled cheese with bacon. The kids got a smiley face omelette with fruit, and a scrambled eggs platter respectively. I was told that my biscuits would be a little while because they were just put in the oven. I have no problem with that. So, the kid’s food came out pretty quickly, probably about 30 minutes before the adult food. Also fine, We have to help them eat anyway, So the kids are eating their meal, and they were enjoying it. They love eggs so there was no complaints from them, they were even sharing each other’s food, and having a good time. I look around, and there are probably about 5 – 6 other tables in the restaurant. It took forever for the food to come out. Our food, when it did arrive, was cold, obviously on the hot plate for a long time, and not really what we ordered. My mom’s sandwich was cold, barely had any cheese, and had some extraneous ham on it for no apparent reason. The bread was sooo thick, which would be OK except it was stale, and greasy. Her french fries were cold. My girlfriend’s meal was OK. My eggs were lukewarm, and under cooked. They were supposed to be sunny side up, but the whites weren’t set, and the bottom was hard. They didn’t load my hash browns like I asked, and the potatoes that I DID get tasted like burnt oil. The best part of the whole meal WAS the biscuits. We were starving, and the kids were acting up, so we stuffed our faces, and put the kids’ jackets on so they would bring us the check. My mom complained about her sandwich, and the lack of topping on my hash-browns. The waitress had it taken off the check. The service was nice. The food was terrible, aside from what the kids ate. I would not go back there, even if my mom was treating. Poor management. If they were short staffed, the manager should have been out there helping the front of the house. It seemed like lots of people were displeased. I get it. It’s a Bob Evans. I don’t expect fresh amazing food. I do expect hot food, I expect non-congealed sausage gravy, and eggs cooked to order. I know it is pre-packaged stuff, and lots of it come from steam trays. That is all the more reason for the cook to be able to make sure the meal is ready right around the same time as those tasty biscuits.

While I might not choose to eat here I was invited to a business meeting here. Some folks had coffee some had water. No one ordered much but the waitstaff kept drinks full. Looks like they have great service — at least when I was there — they went way out of their way to be welcoming and nice. Perhaps I will give the place a shot sometime soon for some food. Kudos and a good tip for my water, thank you!

I guess the reviews tell the story. I hate to give a restaurant only 2 stars, but the experience was bad. The first thing I could think of when I walked in was, Wow this restaurant is nice. But don’t be fooled. The service was horrible. I got the sun rise breakfast and Charge $ 8, And the coffee don’t come with it like most other places, they charge you like $ 2.39 for the worse cup of coffee. For a place like Bob evens I really expected more, mabe like specials for Thanksgiving day breakfast! Better coffee especially, and better service,

After getting our taxes done, my family wanted to get some lunch. So we ended up at Bob Evans(my mother chose it). We arrived and for once it seemed somewhat busy. They gave us a table and when my sister placed her hand on the table, it landed on mashed potatoes that had not been cleaned off. When the waiter came over, my mother asked if he could get a rag to clean it up, which he did. So we were glad that was done with. We ordered our food and my sister had not realized that when the waiter said coleslaw AND fries that meant she was paying more. She ended up with the platter. I had read the menu which said that if you just wanted fries, it would be the combo. Anyway, I will say the only reason they got 2 stars, besides the waiter named Amr, was because I really enjoyed the smoothie I ordered. We had one big issue. We finished up our meal and went to go pay. A woman went over and took a family to their table and never came back to ring us out. As my dad was waiting, I looked through the little windows inside and the waitresses and whomever the male manager was, were just standing there chatting with each other(Our waiter was not in this mix, he was helping a table). My dad was highly annoyed so he walked over and said is someone going to let me pay. Then he said, «Oh I bet if I had just walked out without paying, you probably would have come running.» I don’t think I ever want to go back there again in all honesty.

We stopped coming here last year because the dishes are never clean and it smells like old buckets of cleaning solution no matter where you are seated. We came back hesitantly after hearing its been better lately– but had to opt for water as the coffee tasted like dish water. I’d suggest taking the trip to somewhere else unless you are ok drinking pungent coffee.

terrible… Ordered the biscuit boat with sausage, eggs and potatoes and my boat look nothing like the picture, it was completely flat and kind of blah. The picture look so pretty and yummy. Husband ordered some breakfast special with eggs, potatoes, biscuits with gravy. He said it was terrible. The worse country gravy ever. My son ordered chicken fingers and fries. He said it was ok. Very dissappointed. Took long to get the food which just builds the anticipation. Then, when the food arrives and its terrible, it’s so disheartening. would not eat here again. Employees were very nice and friendly which is always a plus and has saved this review from 1 star.

Had a gift card to go here, took the 25 drive. We went around dinner hour. The place was pretty empty maybe 3 – 4 other tables where occupied. Seem to be only 1 waitress working the place. Service was acceptable wouldnt say great. Waitress was friendly however she seem to be multitasking. She did come by and ask and check on us. The food was your standard average Diner affair. My spaghetti seem to be covered in some type of oil. No not olive oil either. The chicken parm was pretty decent. I also enjoyed there onion petals and the price was .99 cents. My sisters food pot roast with hash seemed a little on the dry side. All in all i wouldnt go out my way for this place. Perhaps its better as a breakfast place.

Went for early dinner on a very slow day. Service was very slow. I had to look at tables that were not cleared the whole time I was there. I don’t know if they are just really cheap or what, by why are there no condiments(catsup, etc), or extra napkins on the table? You have to ask the wait-staff for everything, and there was only 1 waitress for the whole place. The manager was having family problems and broadcast it so loudly everyone could hear. They also had to call out cooking staff to help wait on customers and bus the tables. The food was not even close to worth the price(even with a discount coupon) – the cole slaw had runny dressing, the fried fish only had breading on one side, and was bland and only a thin«filet». They served the broccoli plain and dry, not offering any butter or other condiment for it. The fried shrimp were acceptable. I would not go back there again.

Bob Evans is no «international place that sells breakfast» that’s for sure, but we went there for our rainy Sunday morning eats because it was close. Boo, boo I say. It was packed and we were told our wait would be 15 minutes. Well 30 minutes later they called our name and asked if we’d mind sitting at the counter. Hell yes I would mind after standing around for a half hour, looking at the stuff you sold by the register and trying to figure out what that jar of Colonial dressing was really made of. So we waited another 2 minutes and they cleaned an actual table off for us. The coffee was disgusting, but the food was okay. I had blueberry crepes with a side of bacon and home fries. Everything tasted good and we left with our bellies full. Still I will only consider this place again in a pinch… although I don’t know what kind of pinch one gets into when they need breakfast food, but whatever. It’s edible.

Took the half hour drive up to Bensalem from Philly to go to this Bob Evans, my favorite breakfast place ever that we are sorely missing in New York. As is the case with most Bob Evans restaurants, the service was great(well, except that I had to wait for a coffee refill for quite a while toward the end of the meal), the food was delicious and I was so full that I couldn’t eat everything on my plate. Great experience — the location is easy to get to, and had ample parking space. Love it!
