For the most part, this is a good practice. They don’t make you wait too long for drop-in allergy shots, and I’ve seen Dr. Gendo who had some insights about my allergies that other doctors have missed.
One issue I have had is with obtaining a referral. When I called Allergy and Asthma group to follow up on that today, the receptionist was a bit off. I said only that I was following up on a referral that hadn’t been received, at which point she went into a long «Ok, well what is your name, because I don’t know who you are unless you tell me your name first.» It was less than professional.

Since Jim Nickelsen has retired, this office has just gone downhill! The office staff is close to incompetent and Dr Lodewick is incapable of running a business.
My wife has been going here for years, but her allergist, Jim Nickelsen, was great. Unfortunately he retired earlier this year. Now there is no compelling reason to come to this group of Drs, as the office and billing management is terrible.
Yesterday, they refilled a prescription my wife has been taking for the last 30 years to a different medication. The office staff made the decision, not the doctor. Who is at fault? Do you fire the staffer? Do you admit there was a mistake? None of that happened.
Should you like this office, I’d watch your stuff…

I want to start by saying that while attending the practice the doctors and nurses were great.
However, this practice has had the worst billing practices out of the four allergy practices I have been to. I was consistently over charged for shots for months after I asked to ensure that it was the right amount even though it did not seem reasonable to me. When they finally realized their error they refused to grant me a refund. But that was only the start of the problems. When I needed to leave the practice because I was moving it got way worse. The first time I spoke with billing all I needed to pay was $ 75. The next time I owed then $ 500. Then $ 1000. When I finally sat down on the phone for over an hour they decided that I only really owed $ 750 because she did not notice that my insurance had paid. I do not understand how such a large practice cannot be accustomed to handling billing.

My wife went to see Dr. Gendo at this clinic and based on her experience, I would definitely NOT recommend going there. He was only concerned with doing as many tests as he could and taking more blood from my wife than Dracula would. Literally, 20 viles at one time. And guess what, not one response from him. Even after repeated attempts to find out what the results were, no one from the clinic would return our calls. All they wanted to do was charge for lab fees and blood. No feedback, no nothing! This doctor does NOT care about his patients, nor did the «Out to lunch Staff», care in the least! How did he get positive feedback??? Relatives, is my guess. You’ve been warned!!!

I think their office messed up on my billing. I’m on the student health insurance and all services here are suppose to be covered, but then I receive a bill for $ 650. !!! Now, I have to go and spend the afternoon talking to the insurance to figure out whats going on. Worst yet, all the tests they order came out negative. So, we are back to square one where we have no clue what I’m allergic to. I do not blame the doctor for not knowing though. All the things that I’ve read on the condition I have, Dr. Gendo was able to confirm so I do not doubt his level of professionalism and medical judgement at all.

Saw Dr. Gendo today and he was very honest and very knowledgable. The staff was nice and they were on time in seeing their patients– which I absolutely appreciate! The office was extremely clean too. Definitely, should consider if you’re looking for a great allergist!

This is one of the best doctor’s office visits I have ever had. They are SO squared away. I just had my first appointment and they were on-time, professional, efficient, and great communicators. I saw Dr. Gendo, who was a little rushed, but terrific. The medical staff and front office staff were excellent. I wish every doctor’s office experience was like this one.

This review is for Dr. Gendo, whom I saw today.
He’s probably one of the best doctors I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot of good doctors… What sets him apart is that he took the time to give well thought-out answers to all my questions, no matter how silly they were.
The appointment was probably 30 minutes of him listening to and answering my questions, plus another 15 minutes of the usual medical checkup stuff. From my past experiences most doctors don’t have this time to spare.
Together we explored all the possible causes of my condition. I went home with a strategy on how to deal with my condition over the next 6 months. He also gave me like 2 months’ worth of samples!
Scheduling an appointment was a bit annoying but if all the doctors here are good, then I can see why that is. I think my visit was worth the almost 1 month wait.

I love this Berkeley office for all of my allergy needs (which are many). I recently had to relocate for a job in Chicago and you tilt don’t know what you’re missing until it’s gone.
I love the front desk (especially noelle!) they do a great job taking care of you and Giving you Zyrtec when you forget to pretreat (which was me pretty much every time). She also was super nice about y forgetfulness to pretreat with antihistamine.
As for the shots, they do a great job and I don’t think I ever bled. Which is amazing considering I was given about 40 shots out of that office!
I also appreciate that they care about your time. There’s a quick form you fill out with your name dob etc., you go in confirm your vials, get the shot, wait twenty minutes and when you’re done get checked by a nurse at YOUR convenience.
Five stars for their great service and for no more deathly watery eyes and asthmatic breathing! #icanbreatheclearlynow

I have had the worst possible experience with this office — from scheduling issues to billing problems, I cannot recommend this medical group to anyone. And, I have had many positive experiences with other allergists in the area.
I have gone in at what I was told was my scheduled date to find that my appointment was moved to another date — twice. The fact that I was going through a very bad allergic reaction at that time made no difference to the staff nor the doctors. They could not see me nor my young daughter for our appointments. The fact that I went back a second time was actually a mistake on my part.
In addition, if you sign a waiver for antigen, they will charge you whether or not you go back to the office for at least a year (I never had any antigen therapy done at all, but received bills for a year). They will continue to send you bills for small, ridiculous amounts ($ 7) just to add a rotten cherry on top of the entire experience.
Please, don’t go here. It’s not worth your time, money, nor health.

I had a good experience here with Dr. Gendo. The front desk staff and nurses were great too. Dr. Gendo is obviously very smart, but not at all arogant. I felt that he really listened to me. I told him I’d like to get to the root of my problem, so they tested for environmental allergies. which were negative. He did print out a list of foods I could try to avoid and see if it helps. He also suggested that I get my vitamin D level tested to see if it’s on the low end and then supplement with vitamin D3, which I have done. I’m not a fan of taking antihistamines, so I’m always open to implementing dietary changes first. I added the D3 and I’m not sure if it’s that or the Chinese herbs I’m taking… but my hives are much improved! I don’t have to take zyrtec much at all now. I appreciate a doctor who can problem solve, who cares about educating and providing useful tools to his patients, and does more than write a script and leave the room. Thanks Dr. Gendo.
