Berkeley Taxi Cabs

Totally surprised to find a $ 94 charge for a .9 mile trip. Trying to contact their billing department now, but yet to talk to anyone who is not a dispatcher. I will update this space with the resolution but right now their automated billing service looks very glitchy.
Only pay in cash!
Back to update — It was a totally bogus charge. There was the original charge, which was accurate. Then a few days later they took my card for a long trip in a circle. The documentation to ‘prove’ the charge was at a terrible resolution so it was impossible to actually see any of the numbers on the print out. My credit union and card provider never did hear back from anyone there. It took a lot of passing the buck to end up at a voice mail which was never returned. Do not trust.

I called this company to see if they could give me an estimate for a cab fare from Richmond to Sausalito, and he told me it wasn’t possible and thought it was crazy that I would even ask for a fare estimate. Not good customer service at all.

You know… when the customer is on the phone, having called you back to figure out who is paying for the cab fare, that is probably not the appropriate time to get into the specifics of where you think the communication process went wrong!
I used their website to book a cab ride to the airport for my parents. I filled in the credit card information. The form said I needed to call them after to verify the ride (yeah… big hint they haven’t really thought through their business process???). Anyway, I call the number the guy asks to call back in a bit (presumably to give the system time to propagate my order). When he calls back, we confirm the destination and I specifically asked «So, I gave you my credit card info already, you will charge that right?» (not wanting my parents to pay for the fare). I clearly hear him say «yes».
Well… 30-​something minutes later, my parents call and the taxi driver is insisting that they pay for the fare. I’m like «what?» So, I call the cab company back and that’s where we get to the beginning of the story… the man starts arguing with me about who supposedly said what, when… Incredulous, I asked him «wait, so I called you back. Obviously I’m not trying to stiff you. You instead of clearing it up right away, start arguing with me? You need better customer service sir!»… In all fairness, once I pointed that out, the man stopped and resolved the issue. But seriously… !
