Description

Specialties

Biketopia Community Workshop is a nonprofit, full service bike shop that offers community bicycle education and employment and recreational opportunities for disadvantaged youth. Our mission is to empower the community build and maintain their own bikes while giving youth the training and mentorship to transcend their backgrounds.

Community members can come by the shop any time during our DIY repair hours and use our facilitity, tools, equipment, and expertise to learn how to work on their own bikes. We also offer a series of mechanics classes each month.

Our youth interns have the opportunity to learn how to work on bikes and participate in group rides and athletic training. They work on donated bikes for resale and help teach the public repair during open shop hours.

We sell refurbished bicycles at affordable prices and are happy to perform paid repair service for anyone who is not interested in doing the work themselves.

We also host lectures, gift circles, and community events.

History

Established in 2011.

We will be open to the public starting Jan 8, 2012!
