I specialize in renovating and remodeling of kitchens and bathrooms.

Our general scope of work Includes but not limited to: electrical, plumbing, carpentry: rough & finish, drywall (sheetrock, taping), painting, and everything related to interior renovations, repairs, restorations and general home improvements.

For clients who have outdoor projects, we also have extensive experience in: patios, retaining walls, irrigation and drains systems, French drain installation and repair, stones and concrete, decking, fencing, building maintenance repairs, pavers stones, flagstone, masonry & stone work, dry stock rock walls, concrete walls and facing stones wall, and outdoor lighting replacement and installation.

I called Edwin to demo and rebuild our leaking shower floor pan. Although it was a standard repair job, I was impressed by his communication and his positive attitude towards making sure I was satisfied at every step. While doing the repair work, one of Edwin’s guys identified a separate leak in the house. They tried to repair it while onsite, but it turned out to be a much larger job than we anticipated. Still, I am grateful that they found that second leak so it can get repaired before any further damage. The joys of home ownership!

Edwin Ramirez and his crew built us a gate, a stub fence next to our ADU, and put down a concrete pad, and installed a bike rack on the pad. He gave us a quote for price and time, and was very clear and professional, as was his crew, and they cleaned up well, and we now have a strong, good-​looking gate, a more secure yard, and a good place to park our bikes. I’ll be calling him again.

After the recent rainstorms, we had some major water leaking issues in our newly renovated office (done by a different contractor). Edwin came out and after a thorough inspection was able to identify all the issues where the back wall wasn’t properly sealed and waterproofed.
He and his team were very professional — he even showed up an hour early on the first day! They relocated a support beam under our shed, rebuilt the exterior wall to the studio, cleaned out the framing, removed and replaced the damaged drywall, applied seal and waterproofing to an exterior wall of the shed, sealed/​waterproofed the back corner and roof corner, poured a concrete retaining ledge along another corner, and installed a french drain. Edwin made our project a top priority and everything was completed in under 3 days. He also called to follow up a couple times over the next week to make sure there was no leaking during the next rainstorm.
After a frustrating experience with a previous contractor, it was a joy to work with Edwin — he was very communicative about everything, got the project done in a timely manner, and demonstrated compassion and sympathy when we discovered this huge problem with our brand new office space.
He also gave us a bid on seismic retrofitting and if/​when we decide to move forward with that, we will hire Edwin for sure.

Edwin remodeled our bathroom and we are very happy with the result. Here was the scope of his work:
Removed existing tile, plumbing, plaster, subfloor, vanity, and medicine cabinet
Sistered new framing on to rotted joists and applied epoxy to seal off the dry rot
Installed a new subfloor
Framed a tub surround and installed a drop-​in tub
Installed cement board and drywall
Installed floor and wall tile
Painted the walls and preexisting built-​in cabinets
Installed a wall-​mounted sink (and associated framing behind to support it)
Installed a mirror
Pros:
Had good followthrough until the end, making sure that the project was picture perfect
Always answered his phone and was highly available by text
Was able to work on a couple of Saturdays to help us make our extremely tight timeline
Was committed to going the extra mile to ensure that we were happy and felt like it was a job well done
Assigned two workers to the project every day who worked fast. They were constantly in action and the changes every day were dramatic. I am still impressed with how much they were able to get done.
Was able to schedule within a reasonable timeframe, unlike some of those contractors who are not available for months and months.
Overall nice guy; easy to talk to and work with
Cons:
Installed floor to ceiling cement board and then installed the bath tub, which is the wrong way to do it. The right way to do it would have been to run the cement board to the top of the flange (overhanging) so that water that made it to the cement board (which we waterproofed with RedGard) would run down into the tub. As a result, we were forced to install another layer of cement board on top, which led to inconveniences down the road with the finish plumbing (valves were too deep). That being said, Edwin did take ownership of the problem and came on Saturday to fix it.

I live in an area where houses are attached with cinder block walls and I’ve had a problem with leaks penetrating through the cracks of the wall when it rains. I’ve contacted and discussed with many contractors through Angies List, Diamond Certified and Unilocal and no one had a solution and knew what they were talking about. When I found Edwin i quickly realized I had found the right person for the job. Edwin, Pedro and crew were heaven sent and as soon as I discussed the problem he knew exactly how to resolve the issue with thorough waterproofing solution. The other problem i had was dealing the the neighbor on the other side of the wall. Edwin was able to discuss it with neighbor and he put us both at ease that the problem would be resolved. He’s very professional, knows his job well, communicates well in discussing the problem and solution, punctual and very responsible. It has rained since the wall was repaired and no more worries about leaks, so bring it on El Niño! I can sleep at night knowing the money was well spent and my house is protected from outside elements. Do not hesitate to contact Edwin at E R Home Improvements!

Pedro and crew did a great job replacing a retaining wall and a fence. The quoted project cost was competitive and while they incurred some extra costs for removing ivy and shrubs that had overgrown the fence, they did not charge me for it. Would work with them again.

I called Edwin very last-​minute, when a wall in our bathroom had to be torn down unexpectedly and we were in trouble. He came through for us. He came to the house to do an estimate and then sent a remarkably skilled craftsman (Elmer) over to mud the entire room the next day. Elmer did a FANTASTIC job! My husband and I couldn’t be more pleased, or appreciate of these guys’ work. The price was very fair too.

An El Nino winter on the way! Oh no, who ya gonna call?
ER Home Improvement is your guy. What a pleasure it was to work with Edwin and his crew. Customer satisfaction really is his primary goal. Our down-​sloped rear yard has been moving downhill for years. His crew replaced a failing wood retaining wall with keystone blocks and added a second, smaller one half way up the slope (per our request) on the steepest section.
The quality of their work was excellent. He did not try to oversell anything, but was forthcoming with helpful suggestions to provide the best job while keeping the cost down. He was very flexible and accommodated minor adjustments to the original layout. He managed to save the hubby’s beloved Cactus plan. His crew even separated/​saved the «good» wood boards that he ended up re-​using to shore up the eroding dirt behind our rot iron fencing (for nominal, additional charge, of course — but Hey, the man’s gotta eat too!)
They were very friendly and cleaned up each day in the 100+ degree sun. They stuck to the schedule and even brought additional guys to finish early!

A toilet overflowed in our upstairs neighbors unit for 3 days before we caught it, causing major damage to our unit: new drywall, paint, carpet, new flooring in the bathrooms, new bathroom vanities, etc. On top of all that, the unit was under contract for sale so in addition to coordinating out of state with us & our insurance, Edwin also worked with the buyer, the buyers realtor, the neighbor upstairs, and the water damage restoration team. He balanced everyones needs, completed the work fast and well, and made everyone happy! His bid was professionally detailed and written out so we knew exactly what we were paying for. It’s scary to hire someone long distance, but Edwin earned our trust and our highest recommendation.

Edwin and his crew did a fantastic job on a master bedroom partial remodel for us. The job was to demo and rebuild a large double closet. It turned out to be a fairly tricky job since it is an older home with uneven flooring. Edwin’s team showed up right on time every day, completed the project in a very timely manner, was exceptionally clean, and delivered a fantastic final product. But we’re mostly impressed with his creativity and ability to solve challenges that weren’t necessarily known ahead of time. He also was very willing to make sure every last detail was correct before closing out the project. Not much more you could ask for from a contractor, and we’re looking forward to bringing him back for other projects we have on our list.

I needed some work done right away to qualify for a refi on my house. I called Edwin because I saw the review on Unilocal.He happened to be in my neighborhood and came over that same day to give me an estimate. The price was fair and he came the following day to do the work. The work complied with the lender’s requirements and it all happened so fast. Edwin was very friendly and honest. I hired E R Home improvements to perform drywall work on a ceiling and a wall that had water damage. His price was a fair one, less than two other bids. The work was done well and for the original cost estimate. He was easy to work with, gave me this opinion on other possible projects without trying to «sell me» on them. This was a small project and I appreciated his willingness to take on a small project. I would hire Edwin again for future work.

I hired ER home improvements to work on my kitchen and living room. It was great experience. Edwin, the owner was there working and making sure everything is going as in plans. He is experienced, he knows how to tackle sudden problems. He always arrive up in time, never late or had an excuse not to come which is rare in contracting companies I hired. He is licensed and ensured, knowledgable in building codes, pay attention to little details and last but not least, he is very clean. I would definitely recommend him to you or to a friend.

Edwin recently finished another job for me — this time indoors. I wanted to remove a set of doors and fill in the wall. He had to match the floor board detail and got a great painter to come in and paint my whole place. He did this as well as pull some new outlets, add a channel for my cable line (HIS IDEA — I love it, fewer cords to look at), and install an outdoor light (with indoor light switch).
As usual, he is professional and trustworthy, the guys he gets to work on the project are up to his standards and great to work with even if he’s not around.

Edwin’s work is very clean, precise, he is always on time and worked with me and the clients to get the desired design effect. Edwin is a warm and skillful licensed contractor and is able to communicate well to understand what is needed on a project and delivers in a timely manner.
I’m a permaculture gardener/​designer. When I moved back to Oakland, I needed to find a contractor to work with me on design, build, clean up and restoration projects. Edwin contacted me and sent me photos of his work as well as references right away. He then continued to stay in touch with me even when I did not have any work.
He has worked on a few projects with me since October 2013, and in each one, I have been impressed and very satisfied with his level of skill, scope of knowledge of all aspects of building, landscaping, fence repair, retainer walls, stonework — building rock walls, irrigation, team management, and handyman details of the projects.
I needed a strong team for landscaping restoration recently and Edwin brought his team of three very capable and skilled men and they have been excellent! I’m planning to hire Edwin and his team whenever I can!
