The mattresses are extremely comfortable and full of the best stuff. No drag down or motion when my hubby or kids crawl in. My back gets the support it needs and I get the luxurious feel I want! Seriously, the comfort is amazing. Way more comfy than anything you will try.
If you are just shopping for furniture their bedroom furniture is GORGEOUS!!!

This is a completely different mattress shopping experience-​no pressure, no gimmicks. If you want it great if you don’t that’s fine too-​this was refreshing after weeks of looking for beds (including 2 mattress returns).
It’s been 6 months and we love our E.S.W. mattress but it was a wild ride to get there-​we tried and returned a sleep number bed but it had no bounce at all then we tried a new age fancy latex, spring, memory foam combo but it felt similar to a water bed when one person moved). ESW makes high end traditional mattresses without all the chemicals. We purchased the mattress and a wooden bed frame from them and a pillow. All three have been a hit.
I would start here if you’re looking for a mattress but regardless I would make sure that when you buy a mattress you have a window of time to return it for a refund (not just exchange).

Very disappointed. I went in to exchange my pillow today and they wouldn’t allow an exchange. Frustrating because they were very reassuring that I could do an exchange if needed when I bought it. Hard pill to swallow when you fork out $ 130+ for a pillow.

have an older full size mattress from European Sleep works and its time for it to be replaced. I can give my mattress 4.5 stars from when it was new. It is a firm one and now 15 years old (I am the only one sleeping on it) and I have arthritis in hips and knees so I need a new mattress I have written 3 emails to customer service with questions regarding a new pillow top or other solution and I have and have never received a response. Therefor, due to customer service I an only give a total of 3 stars.

I am a physical therapist and I can’t speak more highly of the quality of the beds, pillows, and service at ESW. First of all, I have never been one to sleep entirely through the night. In the 3 weeks since we have purchased our new bed, I have SLEPT THE FULL NIGHT for nearly 2 full weeks. The pillows are great and I now am using them in my office for my patients to try out as options. 5 stars are a no-​brainer here!

We were in the market for a new bed and based on recommendations from two friends stopped by European Sleep Works on a Saturday morning, the salesperson was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, low-​key and not pushy at all. Because I am kind of a Princess and the Pea” type of girl and it was our first exposure to this type of bed we wanted to shop around and do some more research. We went to Mancinis, Sleep Train, Macys and another mattress store in Berkeley and decided European Sleep Works was the best option, we felt they had a superior system and for the quality it was a fair price. We went by again, another salesperson was just as helpful, not pushy, we bought a king-​size bed, the slat system, bed legs, pillow top, a mattress pad and we LOVE IT! Also, European Sleep Works gave us a date and a two-​hour window for delivery; they arrived on time, with two professional guys who had our old mattress removed and this new one up in a very short time. Every day I wake up and say to my husband, «I love this bed». The only down side is I used to only get 5 – 6 hours of sleep a night, but with this bed I am sleeping 7, which is good, but now I am scrambling in the morning. Also this bed is good for everything else, soft but just the right amount of firmness :-). Very satisfied with my purchase.

These pillows are extremely luxurious. I didn’t think it would make such a difference, but it does.

ESW is staffed with helpful people. I had made a wrong choice on a mattress and they work hard to resolve it. You are in good hands with these folks.

We got a bed here, and it was like sleeping on clouds. less than 2k total

We purchased our mattress here a few years ago and it took us 3 tries to get it right. They really do stand by the desire to allow you to find a bed that feels good and we had a to work at it a little bit it was worth it. Everyone was courteous and helpful. We feel good about having a mattress that isn’t off-​gassing toxins.

We bought a bed system over four years ago. Recently we had a minor problem with the mattress. European Sleepworks stepped up and fixed the problem. We are completely happy. Thank you!!!

Stopped by to pick up their pregnancy wedge, which is a great incentive to come by the store, and the staff was remarkably warm and helpful. We will definitely have this showroom as a first stop the next time we’re in the market.

We sleep wonderfully and we don’t make noise when we roll around!
However the smell of the latex is a lot to get used to. It filled the room the first few days but now I can only smell it when my head is on the pillow… Getting «natural» bedding but smelling latex, this being what I have an allergy to is very confusing… hopefully the smell will go away.
I do sleep better!

ETA: They contacted me and sent a correctly sized replacement base coil, which makes the mattress fit in the bed frame. Hooray!

Beware the made-​to-​order mattress — unless you can afford to make a made-​to-​order bed. We purchased the Alpine Classic full-​size bed for our child after an extensive discussion with the very helpful customer service rep (we had considered a more expensive, latex option). We elected to purchase a mattress from them because I inherited one when I lived in the Bay Area a number of years ago, and we like to support small, local businesses. The representative was aware that we were purchasing a platform bed specifically for this mattress. The two stars are solely for the excellent, patient customer service we experienced from Rebecca.
Unfortunately, the mattress did not fit properly in a standard platform bedframe. The width of the mattress (at the reinforced corner frame points, which were not flexible) was almost 56 inches, as opposed to the 54 inches listed on the website, and the «53.5» inches listed on the tag. I don’t know if the mattress got squished in shipping or what, but we certainly tried to squish it into proper shape, to no avail. The length was slightly more than 76 inches as well, due to the reinforcement, but would fit with no sheets on (which???). We basically had to try to cram it in the frame every time — and it’s not light. The bed was also softer and less sturdy than expected. A year later, it is sagging one one side, and changing the sheets is an arduous enterprise. I’m not sure if we just got a bum mattress, or if the quality has just gone down in the last decade.
We never received a reply from customer service about the mattress size issue (we e-​mailed and phoned). So after spending almost $ 1500 on a non-​organic mattress for a now-​30-​lb kiddo, a year later, we feel like we need a new one — one that will actually fit in a standard frame.
Lastly, the shipping fee was more than what was listed on the website — it seems a little bizarre that it costs almost $ 300 to drive to LA as it does to drive it across the country, but I suppose that’s how shipping works these days.
I would not purchase a mattress from here unless you live locally, so that they can come and replace it if you have some kind of an issue, and unless you have the time to follow up with them if you have an issue. In the past, we’ve ordered from Lifekind, which is also California-​based, about the same price, and certified organic, but like I said, we wanted to support a small, local business.

You know how sometimes when you bite into the perfect orange and it just makes your tastebuds *sing*? Our mattress is like that.
I think we got our mattress there sometime before April 2007, but I don’t remember how long before that. Every so often, I or my SO will comment something like «Ah, so glad we got this mattress.» it turned out to be just perfect for both of us. Not the kind of perfect that you don’t notice, but the kind where if you’re not distracted, you notice how perfectly your body settles into the mattress and rejoice.
The Sales person (male, don’t remember who unfortunately, as it’s been too long) was very helpful in answering our questions, explaining the differences in options, and in telling us how we can look at the curve of each others spines to see if the mattress is too soft (tailbone part of spine curves downward as hips sink too much into mattress) or too hard (tailbone part of spine curves upward as hips don’t sink enough into mattress). Then we just tried the various options and were done. He was the right mix of attentive but gave us room to talk and decide between ourselves.
Before this, we slept on a crappy futon mattress that had flattened down to practically aluminum foil depth over about a decade’s use. Every time I sleep in another bed in a hotel, I like those far less than our bed, even though they are usually high-​end mattresses with nice pillowtopper mattresses on top.
We got the natural latex and a wool covering. I’m hoping this means we’ve been breathing in less fireproofing chemical crap, but sadly it’s probably severely overshadowed by our TempurPedic pillows.
Bonus: no squeaking springs, ahem.
This worked out great for us and we will try to duplicate the same mattress from the same place when the time comes to replace our current one.

I should have contacted European Sleep Works before complaining. My mattrress was sagging and uncomfortable. My back was hurting. Steven responded to my negative review. He kindly informed me that I have a 10 year warranty. I have had the mattress for 7 years. So much has happened in this time, I forgot about the warranty. Within days, service people from Sleep Works came and repaired my mattress. It ends up I had the foot slats and head slats for the mattress support at the wrong ends, as well as some other things that needed adjusting. My mattress is as good as new. The happiness I feel could easily bring me to tears. I love my mattress.
I highly recommend European Sleep Works.
I want to add that the service people were thoughtful and read my «Please Remove Your Shoes» sign on my door and without question went and put on shoe covers. :-) Thank you for your consideration!

I tried to contact this business who is the manufacturer of the Oxygen Pillow to discuss the breakdown and warranty of this item. It appears the pillow has no warranty unlike it’s market competitors.
First this business denied they are the manufacturer and then alluded that they were. Then they took any responsibility they had for the pillow and tossed it back on the retailer. Then they blamed it on the age (3 years) but I have down that lasted longer and a Tempurpedic that lasted longer as well.
So what I have to say is… I believe this business lied to me and misrepresented that they were and were not the manufacturer and could care less about making anyone happy, in their mind the retailer should be doing that.
Be careful… mattress industry is shady as it is and with these guys I really don’t think you will have any luck getting your problems addressed.
I should not make the complaint with a retailer, but with the manufacturer. However the manufacturer wants to place the duty on the retailer… how is that reputable? Do you complain to Costco about your inadequate product or the manufacturer? With no warranty, the manufacturer is the place to contact and your business has a duty and an obligation to handle such complaints and acknowledge there is no warranty so there is no set wear and tear on the product and it is not the duty of someone who resold your product to provide this if you do not provide that to them. It is not in the product documentation nor on the website. The duty to consumers would be to provide a warranty or in lieu of such, a replacement.
This company does not live up to it’s duty as a manufacturer. Relies on resellers to handle complaints and no documentation on what to expect. Remember there are plenty of other options out there so beware folks.

Mom has been right about many things in life. One of the most important was after spending the night declaring yours truly needed new pillows.
Was skeptical but decided to go on an East Bay adventure to see why she was making such a big deal about the Oxygen Pillow. She has never been so right.
Spent thirty minutes trying out different heights and firmness levels. Staff was extremely helpful and informative. Was assured my $ 350 investment could be returned.
Almost two months later it’s actually impossible to put a price on just how good these pillows are. Sleeping better than ever.

We bought a king bed and pillows (latex) there last year. The bed is amazingly comfortable and the entire purchasing experience was top notch. They are very knowledgeable, helpful, and easy to work with.
In fact, this year I went back to get my kids mattresses and they spent an hour with me helping find an alternative store that met my needs (due to frame size, etc.). I’m especially concerned with health related and supply chain issues and believe me, they know their stuff.
I plan on recommending them to everyone I know.

This company definitely stands behind its product and has worked with us to make sure, even after a year, that our bed works for us. We have finally solved the problems. :-)
