Literally they don’t open on time. It’s 12:20pm on a Saturday and they say they open at 12pm. What is this?

This is the worst laundry service ever. I took two suits to get them dry cleaned. The employee told me to return in 2 days. An hour later I received a phone call from the store explaining their machine broke and would require longer time to get my suits ready. I agreed to return at a later date. When I returned, I was charged 11 dollars per suit. I put the suit on today, only to discover that it was never cleaned in the first place. I had tissues in the pocket and they remained perfectly folded! So not waste your money. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM!

A bit pricey, but he’s a good guy and does quality work.

DON“T GO HERE! I am SO sad I trusted this place with my clothes!
I dropped off 9 pieces of clothing, a few to be dry-​cleaned and a few to be hemmed, and I was told I would get a call when they were done. Not only did I never get a call… but I showed up and was told it would be $ 76 for my items! I knew that I was getting a zipper fixed, a sweater hemmed, a few buttons sewed on and 5 seams re-​sewn but $ 76 is just ridiculous! He wouldn’t even give me a price breakdown to justify the price but I was forced to pay if I wanted my clothes :(
WORST OF ALL, the things that I had fixed were done poorly and without ANY attention to detail. I will NEVER trust this place with clothes again, I wasted $ 76 dollars for a service that was LESS than mediocre.

I use J & L for wash and fold and dry cleaning. The owner is super nice, and at $.80 a pound, their prices are hard to beat. I’ve been coming here for about 3 years now and I love it.

80 cents a pound for fluff and fold which is the absolute cheapest I’ve seen anywhere!
But I guess you get what you pay for. Folding and care of the clothes is sub-​par.
They also have a good price for wash and press of dress shirts — pretty valuable for those who wear a lot of those, and are not handy with an iron at all (or travel a lot — I do both). $ 1.50 a shirt, and no complaints there.
They do dry cleaning, and while they are not the most expensive, they are not the cheapest either. in fact, the prices for dry cleaning are high enough that I just ended up going else where for my dry cleaning needs.
I did ask them if they would consider a discount if I brought in more items (10+) but the guy was not interested at all. Sigh. Can’t blame me for trying though.
Like others have mentioned, parking is iffy… there are for pay spaces that always seem ful, so you can rool the dice and park in front of a driveway while you dash in, or haul your stuff from a block ro 2 away. Not a big deal for dry cleaning, but for 30+ lbs of laundry? That’s heavy.

Although I rarely need dry cleaning done, J&L is always the one place I can rely on to get it done perfectly.
A couple of days ago I brought in a pair of dress pants that haven’t been washed in… let’s just say… a long time. Lots of creases, worn out, just not as spiffy as I wanted them to look. Unfortunately, the Cal Career Fair was the next day, and I needed them dry cleaned FAST. The guy at the counter told me they would be done in a couple days, but he was very open to negotiation. For about $ 1.50 more, I got them by the next day.
What’s really great is that they actually care about your dry cleaning. I said I’d come in to 11:00 to pick it up, and I got a phone call about an hour later to see if I was still coming in. That was very thoughtful of them, and I appreciate it a lot, even though I didn’t forget. Pants came out looking brand new and I was set and ready for the career fair. Thanks J&L!

Guy takes too many smoke breaks. It interferes with business. I ended up missing my bus (even though I had already spoke to him about it) because of one of these breaks. Just make sure you have breathing room in your schedule or you may be disappointed.

What: I used the wash & fold service w/​delivery.
Why: I was juiced to try this place, mainly because of the reviews and how desperately I need the service.
People: While the employees seem nice over the phone, I did question the professionalism. When I called the location, the guy on the phone was nice enough, knew pricing, etc. I was told to call the delivery person directly. When I did, the call went to a general voice mail box — so I really didn’t know if I was calling the right number or if it was an individual or business phone. Delivery man didn’t call me back immediately, but was always polite and kept his word when we did talk.
Service Positives: My clothes were delivered to me clean — no fragrance, just fresh — and very neatly folded. All but one towel, jeans and heavier cotton items were perfect.
Service Negs: Apparently half of my «unmentionables» were washed in the black load — and most of them are not black. New beloved white Puma socks (the best casual socks I’ve ever owned lol), silkies, lacies and other pretty little higher quality things all looked dingy and «hard» now. :(Separately, all of my tank tops and some of my shirts had blackened underarm stains and one of the white ones had other black marks around the waist area; one white bath towel had large black/​gray marks on it as well. These items don’t look like the were washed in the black load.
My Issue: I specifically asked the guy at the store and the delivery man whether I needed to separate my laundry or send instructions. They both said no and, even though I did send them separated, they were still mixed and materials were ruined.
Not all bad: For the price and convenience, I chalk this one up and will trust them with jeans, non-​white towels, etc., in the future.
Summation: I have to agree that it’s probably ideal for students on a tight budget. I’m not ballin, but I need a little more care for my garments.

I hate doing laundry. I’m the kind of guy that will wait until I’m down to my last pair of socks and undies, before I turn on that washer. So the other day I tried taking my laundry to the professionals. I little nervous at first, because the only people that have seen my dirty undies is my girlfriend or my mom. I had 3 loads of laundry… hadn’t done my laundry for a month don’t judge me. Came in, they weighed it, and sent me on my way and told me to come back as early as later that day! I was surprised I wasn’t expecting it to get done until days later. After doing my other errands I came back to the store to pick up my cloths. They were all folded nicely back in my laundry basket and bag and it only came out to $ 30! They only charged me 80 cents a pound! Everything was done so fast, and saved me a whole bunch of time. So I guess I will be coming here on a monthly basis ha ha, now that I know I don’t have to do my own laundry. I highly recommend this place if you are short on time or just lazy like me.

When i walked up i thought — hole in the wall dump, do i trust this place with my clothes? then i immediately thought — hey if it’s cheap and good who am i to get all snobby?
the first time i brought a bunch of stuff to be dry cleaned. they misplaced a piece from my order on pick up (didn’t realize till i got home). and i had someone else’s sweater in my order. not sure how they figured it out — but very quickly i got a call from them to fix the situation. hey everyone makes mistakes and i thought it was pretty cool that they caught on so quickly AND was fixing it so quickly. and i have no idea how they figured out who had who’s stuff. but they did. other than that little mishap my stuff turned out pretty good. nice crisp creases in my pants. and they were cheap!
the second time they shrunk a cotton button down shirt. and one of my knit tops had a weird watermark on it. and a sweater still had a coffee stain on it — which i just doused with some soap and water to get out (so I’m thinking shouldn’t dry cleaning have taken care of it if i could get it out with soap and water?). disappointing.
Overall, these guys are probably good for those on a student budget looking for an occasional dry clean of a suit or maybe a pair of paints. But I dry clean a lot of my wardrobe — and most of it is knits or other stretchy (ie shrinkable) materials. So i won’t be going back.

Very nice people and the price is right. My fiancée is picky about folding and thinks they’re not very good folders, but they’re good enough for me. They’re pretty timely, too.

Four words: Bring cash. Bring change.
This place doesn’t take credit card or ATM. Our dry cleaning came out to $ 85 (don’t ask, it was actually a reasonable price for the amount of stuff they cleaned) and I just don’t have that much cash on me usually. So bring cash.
You need change for the parking meter, or a CC, but I prefer not to pay the $ 1 minimum on the CC, so bring change. Of course, the parking machine is broken at the moment. Some idiot decided it would be funny to superglue the ‘dispense ticket’ button. So take your chances with the meter maids. (I saw two drive by in the 15 minutes I was there, but they didn’t check the meter tickets) Change is good to have anyway though.

Wah has saved my life. six loads of laundry came to $ 40. Well worth it. I will definitely be back.

Fast Reliable service, i’ve gone to them for all my dry cleaning for the past five years I’ve never had a single problem, and the staff is very cordial and polite, a real pleasure to be around I HIGHLY! reccomend J& L Laundry & Cleaning

If you are on a budget and have little time to do laundry, especially you college students, bring all your stuff here!!! It’s reliable, cheap, fast, and close to campus.
I feel so comfirtable coming here. I not only trust their consistent service but admire their effort to please their customers. If you don’t feel like doing your laundry or altering your clothes, this is the place to go. Check out their first location Launder Inn & Cleaners in Albany (Solano Ave.)! They are great there too. But since I live near J&L, I go here every week to get my laundry done. You’ll love there and will want to go back.

like people said, be careful with the parking because the metermaid is like a freakin NAZI! i came across this place because i always hit up karens nails next door. it seems to be a family owned business and they’re SUPER nice and very efficient with what they do here. very decent pricing compared to most of the places in berkeley, would definitely recommend =]

These guys are super nice and efficient. I rarely have had anything damaged or lost.
I once left a coat there for 6 months and they kept it and reminded me to come get it.
Be careful about parking in the yellow zone and «just running in», the parking meter maids think they are in the SS and will assassinate you with a ticket as soon as they see you leave your car.
