I focus exclusively on family law. I deal primarily with divorce, child custody, child support, and spousal support (alimony). I have found that resolving these cases out of the courtroom, especially when children are involved, is nearly always the best way. I do think it is best to have a lawyer in most cases, even if only for consultation purposes, but I always try to resolve matters without litigation. Unfortunately, that’s just not always possible, and I won’t hesitate to take matters to court if there simply is no other way forward.

I opened my own law practice in downtown Berkeley to work exclusively on family law matters. I have represented clients from throughout the Bay Area. The majority of my cases are in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.

Business Owner

I grew up in Berkeley. I moved to the East Coast for college in 1986 and lived in New York for a number of years. In the middle of that stretch I returned to Berkeley and received my MA in City & Regional Planning at Cal. I worked in the planning field for several years, first in Sonoma and then in New York. In 2001 I decided to attend law school, and I was lucky enough to find myself living a few blocks from Cardozo Law School, near Union Square in Manhattan. I started in the Fall of 2002 and received my law degree in 2005. At that point I realized that I missed living in Berkeley, so I moved back. I’ve been here ever since. After working for a couple of small local law firms, I went out on my own in 2008. I’ve worked out of the same office at the corner of Center & Shattuck since 2009.
