I recommend Julie wholeheartedly and have many positive things to say about her…
First of all, Julie is lively, fun, and interesting. These are great features given the fact that entering the real estate market brings with it many, many challenges and setbacks (get ready, people). It is so helpful to have someone who is always willing to laugh, share stories, and commiserate over the craziness of it all.
Second, Julie has amazing persistence. We were involved in various shenanigans with various banks before finally (keeping our fingers crossed) having success. Each of these situations took careful and diligent maneuvering by Julie, and she advised us extremely well while maintaining excellent communication with all associated parties (even the ones who didn’t want to communicate!)
Thirdly, Julie is patient and kind. We were not ready to accept the fact that we would not be buying a darling little cottage in North Berkeley, rather, had to expand our perspectives to include the more «transitional» neighborhoods of the East Bay. Julie remained firm and realistic with us, while not losing her cool when we just refused, for the eighteenth time, to get the message.
Fourth, Julie treats her clients with respect and professionalism, while maintaining a comfortable and relaxed style. This was extremely comforting for us, as it truly felt like a friend was helping us find a home. We were able to be honest and real with Julie about where we were at and what we were looking for. She did not try to push us beyond what we were comfortable with, yet encouraged us to test our own edges a little bit.
Julie knows her neighborhoods very well, and is an excellent communicator and negotiator. And she’s always up for an adventure. She will take great care of you. She truly is «The People’s Realtor.»

Julie is a great agent– she really knows Oakland very well and is no newcomer to sales or real estate. While she is great at telling you about the different neighborhoods and giving you the pros and cons of a location, I feel that her strengths come out when it comes to the deal. She is good at acting cool and always tries to get you the lowest price (if you’re buying, obviously). She truly is your advocate.
Julie also has a cute personality– ask her about her fluency in French or her obsession with architects. I hope to use her again!

And she did it all with a ready cheerfulness seldom found in service providers today.
I would highly recommend Julie Scheff to anyone looking for a residential real estate agent. Her knowlege of East Bay neighborhoods is fantastic, and she now offers first time home buyer’s workshops for folks looking to get into the market.
