Sur La Table

Sur La table is Sur La Table. Not as well-​curated as Williams-​Sonoma, but also not as pricey, you are sure to find whatever kitchen item or gadget you need or want here. Also, if you are into grilling, there is a better selection here at than at Williams-​Sonoma. Sure, the store is a little cluttered, but the employees are pretty knowledgeable and helpful.

I’ve been a semi-​regular customer at Sur La Table in Berkeley and S.F. Today was the worst customer experience ever from your store. I was ready to buy a $ 149 set of knives, yet your old grey haired knife guy told me the set I selected was the low-​end of Westhof. He said they are basically for people who live in dorms. While I stood there in front of the rest of the knife sets he never tried to qualify me as a customer. He just looked at me like I could not afford anything higher priced. Well this idiot doesn’t know that I can well afford pretty much anything in the store. He never asked me about how I cook, what I cut, how often I use knives, etc. So, I put the set back on the front table and walked out. Thanks so much for helping me. BTW — I’ll be on a plane to NYC flying first class to buy a set of knives for my sweetie from a store that cares about my business. If the GM of this store wants to call me fine, but I will not be shopping here anymore until the grey haired knife guy with glasses is fired for profiling me. This will be reported to your corporate office. Thank you very much!

Associate Kathleen is sweet and wonderful. So knowledge that led me straight to my needs. Glad I had her help! An awesome lady I’m happy to have ran into!

My big gripe with Sur la Table is that they have a virtual monopoly on choice kitchen ware (only Bed and Bath offers any real competition in the East Bay), and yet are almost always out of stock of items they supposedly carry. They no longer have the attractive orange juice glasses. The Creuset mugs we like were entirely missing on our last visit. And our third visit to buy a silicone steamer insert was futile. This insert comes in two colors and three sizes, and only a single large one was available.
We’re giving up!

Thus place is always super expense but has a great selection of kitchen equipment. Bought a shun classic 8in chefs knife from them for a pretty good price, I love the fact that they let you test the equipment and have a good cutting station. The markup on knifes really isn’t that bad, but small wares and utensils are always over priced

I can’t afford this store … or so I thought.
I stand correct as I really can’t afford this store, however there is an exception. And that exception is near the back of the store where a clearance section lives. I can afford that… somewhat. I still spent way too much on a table cloth and some place mats.
This store has everything from table linens to $ 2000 pots and pans, to kitchenware gifts, to coffee makers to actually anything dealing with the kitchen or entertaining. It can get pricy, but you can also find some deals, you just gotta look (in the clearance section). A solid spot if you’re looking to up your kitchen game.

Great selection and excellent customer service.
When a gift that was bought at this store broke, I came to the store with the broken item and received a gift card of equal value. The store rep was good natured and said she would call me when the item was back in stock. She called about a month later. When I returned to pick up the replacement a new rep noticed that the item’s cost had increased and my gift card didn’t cover the new cost. She waived the extra cost and I left with a perfect replacement, as promised.
The «Clearance Table» offers temptations at 75% off retail value. We always seem to find a quirky fun thing for under $ 5 at this table.

Nice place to buy kitchen stuff! Dropped in when waiting for a table at café m. All these cool items. Expensive too. Go towards the back and you can get some sample coffee from the thousand dollar expresso machines :)

This is my dream kitchen ware store. But in reality, it is out of my budget.
But everything is so beautiful, well made and useful. I find myself never wanting to leave this place! So I come here for inspiration and try to find a less expensive version elsewhere.
They trained their staff well. They give you space to browse freely, and appear when you have questions or need assistance.

This Sur La Table exceeded expectations on all fronts. It was a truly delightful experience, and I left the store with a wide grin and a huge bag of culinary treats.
I was feeling a bit tired, so I trolled the espresso maker area until a wonderful woman named Cheryl inquired if I needed help. Despite my weathered appearance and clear need for caffeine, Cheryl helped me in finding the perfect espresso machine I will maybe be able to afford in 10 years. I now know that Illy espresso has a bitter quality to it as well, and I walked on with a new bounce in my step.
While checking out, I had the wild notion to ask about soft-​boiled egg holders and miniature spoons to eat them. It’s a weird, slightly dated method to enjoying eggs, but the woman up front knew exactly what I was talking about, and within 3 minutes I had exactly what I needed.
The service and quality of product at Sur La Table will keep me coming back for more.

My visit deserves a raving review. I bought a salad bowl and some tossing utensils as a wedding gift.
There was a mixup and they ended up having to wrap my gift twice, both times well done. You get to pick the wrapping paper & ribbon. And it doesn’t say Sur La Table anywhere on the wrapping *sigh of relief* beaide a sticker that they refrain from if asked.
Plus, I got free coffee while I waited for the gift wrap, got to keep the to-​go coffee cup it came in, a free subscription to Bön Appetite for spending $ 50, and a really huge, really cheap bottle of olive oil. ($ 10 for hella ounces.)

I love Sur La Table. They have all the fun cooking gadgets and tools that a home cook like myself drools over.
Although they are pricey, they have quality goods. They always have something on sale, so I like checking out the sale rack and back of the store for deals. You never know what you might find.
I find all kinds of little things for my kitchen that make hosting or dinner parties fun and easy. My newest interest is stocking up on some of their cocktail bitters and accessories for my home bar.
I’ll always stop in when I’m in the neighborhood, to see if there is anything that would inspire my home cooking.

Williams-​Sonoma minus the snootiness! Sur La Table has all the fancy cookware that Williams-​Sonoma has and all the affordable cookware that Williams-​Sonoma doesn’t have. At w-​s you’d be hard-​pressed to find anything under $ 20. Soap and lotion anyone? But at Sur la table the have many useful things under 20: bamboo brushes for carbon steel woks, coffee accoutrements, kitchen trinkets. Yes, some of it is useless gimmicks, but at least you have options. The also have store brand versions of cookware, such as an enamel covered braising pan on sale for $ 60 compared to the $ 200 version from Le creuset. If you prefer the brand name one you can still get that at sur la table.
All that to say they have something for everyone, from the fru fru chef in training to to the practical cook who just needs to get something on the dinner table.

Sur La Table on the day before Christmas — the word zoo doesn’t even come close. I was on a quest for some mince pie trays and was having no luck so this place was recommended.
After having no luck scouting about on my own I asked a shop assistant, and he spent a while searching with a similar lack of success. No problems, I thanked him and went for a gander at the rest of the store. The knife selection is excellent (15% off today too), with a chopping board and some carrots so you can check the action before buying.
Sur La Table is pricey, so I was going to give it four stars, but as I was leaving the shop assistant found me. He’d carried on looking and had come up with a ravioli press that was almost right, but a bit too small. Stonkingly good customer service like that means a five star rating.

Staff here is EXTREMELY HELPFUL. I’ve purchased some cutlery, a nespresso, and some baking items here now. They have a great assortment of kitchen gadgets which is dangerous because collecting them is my closet hobby.

Sur La Table is sheer bliss for the spendy home cook. As a lifelong culinary arts enthusiast, this place has everything I’ve ever wanted and everything I never even knew I wanted. It’s cavernous yet still a bit cluttered with an incredible variety of mid to high end cookware and kitchen appliances. I’ve never left this store empty handed whether it’s a cookbook, a soufflé dish, a new knife, a fondue kit, a upgrade from my old lemon zester, a charming muffin tin, whatever.
They stock brands like Le Creuset, All Clad, Wusthof, Mauviel, Emile Henry, Miyabi, Kitchen Aid, and many more. They have great warranties for pricier items and they honor them without an argument in the event of a mishap. It’s definitely high on the list for gift shopping. It makes the holiday haul easier because the majority of their inventory is universally appealing.
The employees are well versed in the store’s offerings and make you feel welcome to browse for however long it takes. I’ve wandered around in here for hours, comparing and debating my purchases. All they’ve ever done is explain pros and cons and help me choose the best product for the task, not just the most expensive. I’ve also seen some in-​store cooking demos, which are always fun. Apparently, they also have technique classes available on site.
If you let yourself get carried away, you could easily break the bank in here but the products are a true investment and the selection is the best in town.

My favorite SLT in the area. It’s bigger and the staff has always been very attentive and friendly. i am always greeted and a few times when I’ve needed help finding something, someone is always available to help. I’m here twice a month.
When there has been a price discrepancy it’s always been resolved easily. I don’t feel like I have to haggle here if something is on sale or there is a slight blemish. All of my items (unless boxed) have always been wrapped in tissue paper.
While some of their items may be pricey, the quality of the product they sell is top notch. I’ve never bought something cheap or poorly made here. I’m really impressed with their bakeware section here – a lot of great brands and a decent selection. I’ve also had good experiences with their grilling items. Bigger selection than Williams Sonoma, better quality than Bed Bath and Beyond, but not as many things.
Their clearance and sales are spectacular.
I love coming here and I’ve made special stops for gifts.
They don’t do the bag charge thing and the big lot behind the store with free parking earns this SLT 5 stars.

Ive always been a fan of this place! Its kitchenware, gadget and stuff for entertaining heaven!
Bought 2 items i didn’t think they would have: soft-​boiled egg top cutter and a string bean threader. Items tend to be a little pricier but way better pricing and variety than William Sonoma!

Pricey, but best selection of mid to high end cookware in town.
One notch above Williams Sonoma in terms of selection.
Cooks should beeline it to this 4^th Street shop specializing in all things culinary.
Its two floors are packed to the rafters with pricey but stylish high-​quality pots and pans, utensils, tabletop items, books, and more coupled with an extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff.
A second location is in SAN FRANCISCO at 845 Market Street.
But their website is awesome. It rivals any of the large chains in terms of usability, special offers, and searchability:
TIP: The 4^th Street lot right next to Sur La Table is always full, so park at the lot across from Spengers — Sur La Table will validate!

More like Sur La HEAVEN! This place is HUGE and chocked full of all the wonderful things in the smaller stores and more!
Hubby and I weren’t on any particular hunt for kitchen goodies however when I said this was one of their flagship stores, we both made a beeline. Set up like many of the other stores, they have a wider selection of items such as espresso machines, gadgets, linens, etc.
The staff is super sweet and we learned that this store takes care of their customers when it comes to warranties on their Nespresso Pixie machines. According to one of the store clerks… if it breaks they replace it plain and simple. The manager doesn’t want people to have to deal with the hassle of Nespresso so that right there made me want to get a machine and I don’t drink the stuff! Hubby was torn but we walked out without one because he still needs to weigh the pros and cons.
I wish we lived closer because I could easily make this our home store!!!
