Tomato Sherpa

I’ve been using it for about 2 months and I really love it. Its like a cooking lesson and meal all in one. Definitely introducing me to interesting and tastey new dishes to make and new ingredient combos and techniques wih fresh healthy ingredients. Only one meal didn’t turn out but that was because I didnt follow the directions!
Only impovement ccould be to thier website which can be a little confusing on how to set your meals etc. but once I figured out the quirks it was all good.
Really thoughtfully planned menus– GREAT recipes and easy straightforward instructions.

I’ve been using Tomato Sherpa for about 5 months now and am so jazzed about my meals every time I bite into them. I get 2 different vegetarian meals with 4 portions each and am always pleased with how much food I get with them. Ordering more portions makes it really affordable and means I’m not eating mac and cheese from a box when I discover there’s no food in the cupboards.
They’ve always been super helpful, have never missed an ingredient in my packs and are always on-​time with delivery. I just don’t have time to go to the grocery store and love all the new meals I wouldn’t think to cook up otherwise.

I signed up for Tomato Sherpa as part of a promotion sponsored by my office. $ 25 off my first order worked out to about 2 meals for 2 people for about $ 15 total– hard to say no!
My husband was initially skeptical thinking the price was a little high (it works out to between $ 9-​$ 10/​person per meal). But we have been using Tomato Sherpa for about 2 months now, and I don’t see us stopping anytime soon.
The meals use interesting fresh ingredients that are locally sourced (when possible), are easy to prepare by following the illustrated instructions, and so far every meal has turned out just as advertised. We have not had any complaints about portion size, and sometimes have leftovers.
Tomato Sherpa does not require any sort of time commitment– you can cancel at any time, and you can also put your account on hold indefinitely. This is great when you go out of town or have company.
As an experiment, I went grocery shopping for the ingredients to recreate 2 of my favorite meals. The grocery bill came out just about what we would have paid Tomato Sherpa ($ 3 less). Though we did get significantly more food at the grocery store (ie: instead of just enough pasta for the two portions, we got enough for probably 6 portions).
But Tomato Sherpa has to make its money somewhere. Sure, you pay for convenience. I love to cook, but hate hate hate meal planning and grocery shopping. Tomato Sherpa takes care of everything I don’t like about making dinner, and leaves the fun stuff.

I love Tomato Sherpa. It exposes us to new flavors, expands our cooking skills and it allows for my wife and I to spend at least one night cooking and eating a delicious meal together. We opted for once a week meal.
Can’t wait until our meal next week.

Food is really, really good, and helps to expand your cooking and eating horizons. We look forward to our ‘Sherpa night’ to break us out of the ‘tacos again?’ rut. Very reasonably priced and a lot of effort goes into individually packaging the various components — i don’t know how they’re making any money. We’re doing one night a week now, but definitely considering expanding to two.

I finally had to say good bye to the Sherpa. I tried to look past the difficult office place delivery (only option), missed ingredients, shortcuts with portion size and choice of cuts of meat. The last straw was a completely missed delivery, 3 days to respond to email inquiries (they have no phone number, address or other way to contact them) about why my food didn’t get delivered as it was supposed to and how I was going to get a refund. When I finally said I was going to stop the service altogether, there was no attempt at trying to retain me as a customer and its been over two months and after several requests to pick-​up 3 weeks of reusable, insulated bags, they still haven’t picked them up. I think they are headed out of business if not there already. I’ve since switched to Blue Apron which I love — except for what I find a waste in packaging, but otherwise a great, and better service than Tomato Sherpa.

Never get my meal. Sent more than 10+ email to support team, and still have no answer. No contact tel on the web site, and incorrect info on the pick up location.

I’ve been using Tomato Sherpa for about 10 weeks now and I love it. I’m a terrible cook (my wife does all the cooking usually) and this site has given me a way to start simple and build up my confidence in cooking. The ingredients are fresh, the recipes are creative, and the cooking is pretty easy. The chicken shwarma last week was awesome!

I love the concept of Tomato Sherpa.

Their delivery is free and they deliver the ingredients — along with an extremely easy-​to-​follow and healthy recipe — with helpful pictures and beautifully clear instructions.
The pricing is about 17 – 20 dollars per meal for two people. You can only get the two meal option — but the great thing is that you get two meals for yourself — or for that special someone that gets to indulge in a fresh cooked meal — cooked by you!
I felt so proud of myself — whipping up fresh fish curry and a squash and persimmon quinoa salad these past two weeks. You can opt for one meal per week, two, three, or even four. You can even choose if you want vegetarian or omnivore selections and if you have dietary restrictions — the nice is that you can usually substitute or leave whatever ingredient you can’t handle — out.
