Brad Nelson is an experienced Master Mariner 50-ton licensed Captain. With over 35 years of sailing including — international racing, navigating thousands of coastal miles, ocean crossings and deliveries, and 15+ years enjoying SF bay, Captain Brad brings a wealth of expertise, local knowledge, and humor for a fun, safe, sailing experience.

Next Adventure is a beautifully appointed 2006 Beneteau Oceanis 423

Named «Boat Of The Year» by Cruising World magazine, the Beneteau Oceanis 423 is elegant, roomy, fast, well-appointed and extremely comfortable. Next Adventure is a 3 time Newport to Ensenada Race vet, now sailing waters of the bay, the California coast, with occasional trips down to the Channel Islands.

The weather, tide, scenery, company and chance encounters are ever changing! Next Adventure Sailing has grown from a lifelong love of sailing coupled, with the joy in sharing wonderful experiences with others. It is truly an outing with nature while enjoying luxury and comfort. Often, our greatest thrill is seeing people’s reaction to this wonderful «new» world… and experiencing the awe, beauty, adventure, and serenity that accompanies an intimate afternoon sailing. Boarding a beautiful (immaculate) boat, soaking up the sun, surrounded by stunning views on all sides, and leaning into the wind as we cruised toward the Golden Gate, these experiences were beyond my wildest hopes for our anniversary celebration.
And it all happened thanks to Captain Brad, his elegant boat, and my not-to-be-underestimated husband.
Friendly. Thoughtful. Well versed in sailing and San Francisco details. Relaxed and easy to be with. These attributes are just a sampling of the reasons why Brad is such an outstanding captain. Sail with him once and you will leave like old friends – see for yourself.
Capt. Brad customized our trip with white wine, champagne, well paired snacks, fresh flowers and our favorite music.
He gave us the run of the boat, supplied blankets and jackets as needed, and even let us drive.
We set sail in the afternoon and landed after watching the sun set behind the city. Perfect timing!
If you’ve never seen the city from the water, If you’ve never whistled under the Golden Gate Bridge (and heard it echo back), if you’ve ever dreamed of sailing and spending a lazy afternoon getting away from it all, why wait? Why debate? Why not call Brad Nelson and do this thing now!

Sailing with Brad Nelson on Next Adventure in the San Francisco Bay is as good as it gets. His Beneteau 423 is the perfect size; at 42′ this boat has it all. A beautiful cabin with full galley, seating, and plenty of room to store and roam. Brad is a master captain who handles his boat with ease and provides his guest with everything the Bay has to offer. There should be a higher rating than 5 stars for this experience.
My family and I are fortunate to have been out on the Next Adventure twice. Once during the Americas Cup, where Brad maneuvered the Next Adventure to a position in which we were able to watch the action close-up. It was a once in a lifetime experience for us. A second time in late summer where we spent a day sailing with lunch and a hike on Angel Island. Two fantastic experiences with plenty of great pictures to remind us how much fun it is was, and that we need to do it again!

What a fantastic day out we had as a family. Captain Brad is really an exceptional sailor, and also an exceptional host. This was a five star experience in every way. He tailored the entire day to fit our needs– from the course we sailed, to the time we each got to spend at the helm, to the sandwiches from the deli! If you’re not a sailor and really don’t know that much about a boat, you can still relax— Captain Brad made the novices in our party feel comfortable and secure. But for those of us who *do* know a thing or two about sailing— wow! That Beneteau is one phenomenal boat, and Brad really helped us put it through its paces. The Bay is a very changeable place when it comes to tide, wind and weather, but it’s clear that nothing would phase Brad. He is calm and professional while still being loose and fun as a sailing companion. We are already planning our next outing with him. The Bay is just such an exceptional experience and Brad takes that to a whole new level. I’m so glad we sailed with him and will definitely be back!

Wow what a great time we had with Captain Brad and his beautiful sailboat. This was a special birthday outing for my father, an East Coast native who, at 81, doesn’t get out sailing nearly as much as he would like to these days. Brad was so helpful and attentive, start to finish. He has a real gift for making his guests feel comfortable and involved at whatever level feels right. He’s a very skilled and safe sailor, too. Our whole group got a lot of time at the helm, and it was a day we’ll never forget.

This is our second excursion with Captain Brad and Next Adventure Sailing and it doesn’t get any better — a true 5 star experience! Beautiful boat, super clean and very comfortable and relaxing. Our group loved seeing the America’s Cup races as well as our previous sail around the bay, anchoring at Angel Island. Brad is an excellent sailor and although I am not a «boat person», I felt comfortable that he had everything under control and tailored the day to meet our needs — from timing to the wonderful lunch he provided. He was also happy to have «all hands on deck» and let those interested help with sailing the boat and he provided great instruction and took photos of us! Hoping that we can enjoy this experience again soon — what a memorable day :)

My son and I went out with Captain Brad for a day on the Bay and had an absolute blast! His boat is really nice, clean and comfortable. We had a lot of wind which made for an exciting time but the boat handled beautifully and Brad is a top notch Captain who made us feel very safe and kept us laughing. He allowed my 11 year old son to take on tasks and help «crew» which gave him a great sense of accomplishment. It was a very memorable experience and the highlight of our trip to San Francisco.

My friends and family were excited to see the America’s Cup races. So we chartered a boat from Next Adventure Sailing. Brad met us at a pier in San Francisco, which was helpful and convenient. As were were sailing out with other boats to view the race, we were in the middle of the action as the Oracle USA team sailed right past us in pre-race practice.
Each of us were able to jump in as much as we wanted to sail the boat. Brad was a great captain, who was calm and had a watchful eye to be sure we were safe through the whole day. He clearly knows so much about the area and sailing that everyone benefits. The winds were great and we had an experience that we’ll never forget.
