If I could give this place 0 Stars I would. It is by far the worst nail shop I’ve ever been to. Filed my nails paper thin so I get to look forward to those breaking off. For gel they used UV lamp which is great if your hands are pale and you live in long sleeves. But I happen to be black and like the skin on my body to be even. My hands are currently darker then the rest of my arm.
After filling my nails ragged and thin, she painted and then proceeded to pick my nail surface. So then there were nooks and craters on my nail surface. The smart thing to do would be take off the polish and paint again. What did she do? She painted right over the canyons she created. I guess she thought they would disappear. I asked her to take it off and let me leave. she removed the Polish and someone else re-​did it. But honestly it still looks crappy. After wasting my time they still asked me to pay full price for crap.

If I could give less stars I would. The manicure was done in a hurry (even with the saloon empty) and my nail varnish/​gel unevenly applied. There were so many chunks of gel in my nails’ corners that I had to go back to have them trimmed. Not worth the time and the money.

I was really nervous about coming here because of the reviews… But in the mall I didn’t have many choices. I think this place deserves more stars. My manicure wasn’t perfect but it was close there was one nail that was not 100% covered, which bothered me when I noticed after. I also noticed that the layers of polish didn’t seem as thick as the usual manicure places I’m used to, but it stayed on now for almost a week, barely chipped. I walked in without having to make an appointment, the manicure was about 30 minutes total. The normal manicure was $ 15 and felt like a $ 10-​$ 15 manicure. The studio is pretty clean and they have tvs for you to watch while you get your nails done, my favorite channel was on too, food network!

Walked in and walked out. And I cannot tolerate awful customer service. I could care less how they do nails. They just brush you away like you don’t exist.

Went in for a polish change today. Could have done it better my self. No top coat, blue from the last color I had on all over my fingers, messy application. Dirty salon, especially chairs where sit for drying nails. Not friendly. Would never recommend this place. $ 8 polish change, should have been easy. While I was there they lost someone’s credit card payment and asked them to pay again. Finally after the person pushed back they decided not to keep pressing. That was for a polish change also.

Absolutely awful experience there today. Ran in for what I hoped was a quick gel manicure, and it turned into a disaster. I chose the color «Irish Cream» based on the sample nail wheel they offered me. The color was supposed to be a beigey-​tan, but after the first coat it looked thin and yellow-​y. I stopped the manicurist and told her the color didn’t look right, and she assured me that it would be better after the next coat. After the second coat it was definitely not better– it was like the polish was old and the color had separated or something, the gel on my nails was this really watery yellow, and was on very unevenly and bumpy. I was getting my nails done for a work event later today and couldn’t go with them looking that way, so I asked her to stop and pointed out that the color still didn’t match the sample at all and that it was looking bad. She then got mad at me, started talking rudely about me to another technician in another language and saying how I was being picky and didn’t like the color I chose. I showed the other technician the watery, yellow, uneven nail color and she just shrugged. I asked my lady to remove the color and I just wouldn’t get the manicure since I needed to leave for the airport soon. She then proceeded to remove the color while giving me a huge attitude, and when I made eye contact with her she goes «This is NOT my problem». After she finished removing the gel and I washed my hands, I thanked her for removing the color, and then she started yelling at me about how I was leaving without paying. I had fully expected to pay for at least a basic manicure since she had already trimmed my cuticles and nails, and couldn’t believe how rude she was being. I paid my $ 15 and left. I’ll never go back.

It was a great experience. Great hair cut. Would definitely recommend to anyone. I had Lillian cut my hair and she made sure I was aware of everything she was doing to my hair. It was a friendly atmosphere.

I use to go to this salon all the time (through all the name and location changes since 2008). It started out good but quickly turned out bad. I use to go to Tommy (he was the nicest and best manicurist), but he disappeared, so I started seeing Sandy. Sandy wasn’t bad but I did not appreciate her dishonesty. She called to confirm an apt for my mother that I made and she agreed she would do my mothers nails, so my mom showed up on the Sunday afternoon to find out Sandy wasn’t going to show up. Sandy called in and said she wasn’t scheduled, though we have a voicemail and an apt card in her hand writing saying she would do my mothers nails. To make matters worse, my mother pays for services with a total around $ 40, and a few weeks later, she goes through the credit card bill and finds out the salon charged an additional amount, bringing the total to $ 150. My mother and I had to call the credit card company to void the fraudulent transaction and then we had to pay a visit to the salon and straighten it out. First they denied ever having done that, but when I mentioned calling the police, they apologized and admitted they were dishonest. They will never have the business of myself, my family or my friends ever again. It’s one thing to provide poor service, it is another to steal.

So I went to this place thinking «it can’t be THAT bad, can it?»
Yes, it is. Seriously.
Me and my friend went in for pedicures. Although my technician was friendly and enunciated her English very well, she left excess paint on my big toe and there was something under the polish of another; I couldn’t ask her to fix it because she left the store after she was done with me. My friend had someone who barely applied any pressure when using the purple loofah. That particular technician was all about up selling… «Do you want to remove your calluses? $ 6 more. Do you want eye brow wax…»
The service wasn’t good. Quality wasn’t either. Pricing was high considering I could’ve done this same job myself.

Oh my God, why did I not read the reviews before coming here? Anyways, I came here last year the day before my wedding for a French mani/​pedi, and the service I had gotten wasn’t bad, so based on that, I came back. WORST. DECISION. EVER.
The moment you walk through the door, there’s no «Hello!», no «Welcome!», no acknowledgement of you whatsoever. When I asked for a mani/​pedi, the lady at the front rudely pointed me to the rack to pick out my colors. Once I did, she just waved me on and told me to walk to the back. When I got to the back, I stood there like an idiot for a good couple seconds not knowing what to do, until another lady finally noticed me and ushered me to the chair for my pedi.
The pedicure itself wasn’t bad, but the application of the nail polish was rushed, and she was on the phone most of the time. After the pedicure was done, the service went from «eh» to *HORRIBLE* faster than you can say «WTF».
She pretty much rushed through the entire manicure, and refused to speak to me, impatiently gesturing with her hand instead. Not sure if she didn’t know how to speak English or if she had an attitude problem, but neither are acceptable excuses for the terrible service. I had no idea when my manicure was done, because the lady straight up just left and started other stuff! I figured I had to wait a while for my nails to dry under the fan, but I assumed she’d come back and check on my nails or tell me I’m done. Nope, didn’t even get that tiny bit of courtesy, but instead watched her sit down in the next station and began working on and chatting with an older, Caucasian client. Feeling like an idiot, I then sheepishly asked her, «Am I done?», and she just said «yeah» without even looking at me. The complete 180 in her attitude was shocking and frankly, downright insulting.
I don’t know if she discriminates against Asians or people who look young, or maybe she’s just a naturally unpleasant person, but it seems like this kind of rudeness is the norm here. Not only that, but one of my nails IMMEDIATELY smudged as soon as it brushed against my bag, meaning it clearly was not done. Another lady had to redo my nail, though she seemed annoyed too.
I seriously did NOT want to tip this lady, but decided against my better judgement and gave her the bare minimum. When I brought over the tip, she just took the money and put it to the side, not making eye contact the entire time. I don’t know why I even said «thank you» to her, but it was after that that she muttered out a «thank you» back. WOW.
So unless you want to be insulted and feel like crap, take your money and go somewhere else. The only thing this place has going for it is the convenience, but that is definitely not worth your aggravation, your time, or your money. The owner of this place should be ashamed of how their employees treat their clients.

Terrible. I went in for a Polish change. I brought my own polish. I have used it many times. They did 2 coats. One nail got messed up. She tried to glob on polish and did not take off the polish and re do it. It looked awful. Then the rest of the nails dried more it was the polish looked super streaky and sloppy around the cuticles. I asked them to remove the polish and redo them they argued that it looked fine and made me pay full price. It was not fine. It was sloppy. And I paid $ 10 for nothing… it was very upsetting.

I’ve been here a few times, and service is spotty at best. It’s a convenient location, which is why I assume it’s always busy since they’re not that good. I got a pedicure and gel manicure. I had to use nail polish remover to clean up my toes when I got home because she got nail polish all over. It was pretty bad; I could’ve done them much better myself!
The gels were fine — but they didn’t last more than a week (whereas other places last for more than two weeks). They chipped right off. The girl did a rushed job (even though she didn’t appear to have another client after me), and it showed. Won’t be going back.

I got eyelash extensions from Katie 5 days before my wedding and I LOVE them! A few other women I work with referred me to Katie because she does such a great job. One of them has had her lashes on for 6 weeks without touch ups! It’s a bit pricey ($ 150) but totally worth it! You need to make an appointment and should call a few days ahead because Katie doesn’t work every day.

I’ve been to UA Day Spa three times now. The third time was definitely not the charm. My first two times I went with a technician who is a complete sweetheart. I paid $ 36 for a full acrylic set the first time and I loved the shape although her polish job was a bit messy and thick. I didn’t mind. The second time I just got a fill for $ 23, again she did a good job.
However, this past and LAST time I went Helen was on vacation. I saw Christine for a fill. Christine was extremely unfriendly and chatted in Vietnamese with her lobster potato chip eating coworkers the entire time. One even took her shoes off and threw them over the chair next to her. Christine made numerous errors when applying the polish, and instead of fixing the polish she painted over it so that it looked clumpy.
While my nails dried, Christine took an eyebrow waxing appointment so that I was left at her station with her lobster chip eating friends talking loudly all around me. While she was gone my thumb and index finger bumped the dirty uv lamp machine my nails were drying in. Since she was nowhere to be found I asked the not busy technician next to me if she could fix those two nails. She grabbed my hands without a single word. Christine came back and when I told her I had accidentally bumped the nails she said «WHY.». Very pleasant. Anyways I sat there for fifteen more minutes drying them until I felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome that I left.
Of course when I got home my nails had so many coats of polish on them they weren’t fully drying. Tons of indentations and wrinkling on them. Two days later one of them cracked in half. I’m too angry to even bother going to ask for them to fix it.
Basically save yourself the frustration and negativity and go somewhere else.

NEVER GO HERE! The treatments are expensive, the staff is incredibly rude, and they do a TERRIBLE job! My «gel» manicure chipped almost immediately after I left the salon. All around awful experience.

If I could give ½ a star or no star I would! Let’s start off with the pros… For a Sunday this was the only place I could find to get my nails done without an appointment. Now, the Cons… EXPENSIVE W/​TERRIBLE SERVICE! And then they want to refer you to an ATM machine for more cash to tip! I got a gel mani and basic pedi and paid $ 62! The pedi was rushed. No massage. Barely even touched my feet with the pumice. Nice feet doesn’t mean no treatment for $ 30! The gel manicure looks like my 3 year old nephew did it. It’s very bumpy and uneven. I’m going to get it done this weekend elsewhere. Drove from Gaitherburg just to be disappointed. I should’ve read the reviews; which I typically do but it was my birthday and I just wanted some pampering! $ 62 late I’m still not satisfied. I finished my pedi at home and I’ll be taking the gel off to redo it with the bums and bubbles. SAVE YOUR LIFE AND DONT GO HERE!

Don’t bother getting your brows done here, because you’ll just have to redo them when you get home.
I should have known better when I smelled the chocolate wax (that never works well for me), but I gave the girl the benefit of the doubt. She shone a bright light while waxing but then turned it off when I had a chance to inspect her work. I should have asked her to turn it back on, but it’s my fault I didn’t.
When I got home I was dismayed at how much I had to fix. The «line» of my eyebrows was not clean above or below and this was obvious in average light.
I have no idea how their hair and nail business is, but I won’t be stepping foot back in there for any service.

This review is for Katie for lashes and gel manicures. I’ve been going to Katie for over 2 years now, which says a lot, considering I’m usually the type of client that points out when one nail is cut unevenly, polish isn’t right, cuticle is a little sloppy… basically I’m picky as hell. With that being said, Katie is fabulous. The person who gave her 1 star is crazy. I’ve been to dozens of lash stylists before and her work is solid! She’s also fast, precise, and flexible (but be sure to schedule an appointment as she doesn’t take walk-​ins). I always get the long, thicker lashes (she offers different thicknesses and lengths). All you have to do is look at the picture I posted and you’ll see she’s really talented.

It was my first and last time at this place. Let’s start out with the fact that it is over priced (specially for the quality of the service they perform) I had a pedicure and my sister had a mani and pedi. The pedicure bowl was dirty and I expected them to clean it and sanitize it, but all she did was wipe the edges of the bowl with a towel and rinse the bowl inside with hot water (hot water alone will NOT kill the bacterias and germs left behind from the previous client) the massage was very quick. The chair didn’t warm until my last 5 minutes of my pedicure and to top it all off, the nail polish must have been old because after she finished; i stayed at the UV light for a good 20 to 30 minutes and hrs after I left my polish was still «soft» and obviously it smudged. My sister’s nail also turned out horrendous and she didn’t like it either. Never again!

if you want very fast service with a good chance of being cut or injured, then go to this place. Technicians all have attitudes. I got cut three times in the last three visits. They are also supposed to give you a massage but it is so painful that i have told them that i don’t want it. You can see employees eating in their chairs, bored out of their minds. Those who are working are clumsy, fast, and completely disregard the client. I will never come here again. The place is not cheap, and i really will not be paying money to someone who will injure me or cackle at me every time i come.
Also, a friendly suggestion for the management — please ask your staff to speak English when with clients. It is extremely rude when they are talking and it looks like they are all talking about you!
One last thing — I have never seen staff open up a clean set of tools. It is the only salon that i have been at where that is not a practice.
