Cool Your Air

I did not have the positive experience with this company that others did. I called for maintenance on our 3-​year-​old AC unit because during a particularly hot spell it was struggling to keep the place cool, and the air coming through the vents was noticeably not very cold. I also wanted the unit to have a general check-​up as no one had checked it since it was installed.
Now, the AC unit for our condo is on the roof of the building, with no way to access it except with a two-​story ladder. Knowing this, I told the company THREE times that the tech would need to have a two-​story ladder, and three times they told me no problem, they have ladders that tall, and the tech would bring one with him. But when the tech showed up? All he had was a standard 13-​foot one, which was nowhere near as tall as I had specifically told them would be needed. Furthermore, he said he didn’t think the company had any tall ladders. This wouldn’t have been a problem if they had told me that beforehand — we could have worked something out where I rented a ladder for them to use. But because they told me three times that they had a tall enough ladder, I didn’t get the chance, and the tech was only able to check the hardware inside the condo and not the roof unit.
Then, when I described the problem, the tech said that I had turned the thermostat too low (68 degrees) and that no one’s AC unit can handle that on hot days. I said we always turn it to 68 degrees and the system had never had a problem before, even on days that were much hotter. He argued with me for five minutes about this, not willing to accept that there was a problem. Finally he checked and it turned out the filter needed to be changed. After he changed it the air coming out of the vents was back to being cold.
Then he didn’t want to check anything else. I told him I had asked for a general check-​up to make sure everything was in good order, you know, preventative maintenance. It was like pulling teeth. Finally he went through and checked everything (except of course the roof unit).
He recommended we have someone come out once a year to check the system. I will do that — but it will be a different company next time.

I friend of mine, told me about this place, after I had asked around for a AC company who could upgrade me. When I gave them a call they were more than happy to answer all of my questions, and help my get to the bottom of why my house wasn’t cooling down. Call the came over to my house to inspect my AC unit and they discovered that my system had not been cleaned in a very very long time.
