Got here @ 8:10am. Doors opened @ 9am.
10 desks for business but only 3 people manning them. WHY can’t this MA State Dpt function more efficiently? It’s a disgrace! So many people having to take time off from work. Shameful in this age of tecnology.
PS. One * given to employee who walked the waiting — line to check everyone’s paperwork so we could hurry only to wait.
PPS. Where’s the outrage from the law-​abiding citizens?
PPS 9:47am. 51 people waiting inside room + long line outside with still only 4 clerks moving at a snail’s pace (eg maybe 15 mins/​customer). REALLY!!!

I don’t really see how any government office could get 5 stars. The gray featureless décor, the slack jawed townies who look like the life force has been sucked out of them like those little elf thingies in THE DARK CRYSTAL, the general feeling of long-​suffering necessity.. .but you know, my experience here was not bad today. However, I would neither plan to spend a day off there, try to get anything to eat there or take a date there, or even dream of having any kind of fun there. Go elsewhere on Unilocal for stuff like that.
I only had to wait about 10 minutes — I went at 10:30 in the morning. I have been there at peak times (right at 9, lunchish time, 3:30 and later. .) and the wait was MUCH longer.…and strangely, there are often many windows that have no people working them despite the huge lines. I don’t get that.. .
Everyone was reasonably polite. I got my little sticker and my registration. I am now legal, official, caught up, and all that.
As far as RMV’s go, it ain’t too bad. And you can check ahead on their website to see how long the wait is before you go.
BONUS — ATM right across the street for boneheads like me who forget THEY TAKE NOTHING BUT CASH OR CHECKS. I got to keep my number so I didn’t lose my place in line.
It is very convenient in downtown Beverly, so if you said «F. it» and took the whole day off to run one errand like I did, you can find lots of places, to eat, drink, and have fun right afterward to get that «hordes of humanity living in quiet desperation» taste out of your mouth.
