This is the best place to rent a paddle board. They explain what to do and really helped us have a great time on the lake. We went back the next day to rent bikes and my wife loved it. Can’t wait to go back to Big Bear Lake.

This was our first time kayaking and found Paddles and Pedals on Unilocal.The guys were super helpful and friendly. Will definitely be back the next time we are in Big Bear!

Tried kayaking here for the first time with our dog and had such a great time! We got here around 11:30am and beat the rush. The scenery is gorgeous and we saw some fish jump around our kayak. You can make reservations and they have parking. Enjoy!

Had a blast. Very convenient to check in and easy to get right to what you came for. Recommend this to anyone looking for some fun on the lake. Windy day, but hey I wanted some fun exercise.

Very convenient and one of the cleaner more relaxing and less crowded place to rent from. Great customer service at the check out place and at the dock. They had a good variety of rentals and everything you need. Also they are flexible with you on your options if you want to change it. Easy to miss because it’s a little shed on the left as you pull in, but definitely would come back again. Kids and the whole family enjoyed it!

This was a great place to paddle board with my family. Troy was a great help with the boards. He gave us great tips also. We had a great time and it is highly recommended.

This place is walking distance to Serrano camp ground. Very convenient if you’re staying there! Brian helped us out and he was so nice. Had a great time out on the lake! When I come back I will definitely be renting from here again!

Super friendly and helpful staff! Bike path is gorgeous and a nice little workout. Tip: pick up a few beers from the general store and take a nice break by the water mid-​ride

This was a first for my bf & I, we decided to try paddle boarding on a week-​day, to avoid the many boats & crowds on the weekends, there are many paddle boarding places on the lake, this place had the best price, there was easy access to launch the paddle boards, the place is easy to find, the owner was helpful & friendly.

We came to Big Bear Lake in mid-​September for a weekend getaway, and the weather was beautiful! So it was the perfect opportunity to go to Paddles and Pedals to rent some bikes and peddleboats.
They are located on the north side of Big Bear which is a plus, in my opinion. The south side of Big Bear is very touristy with all the cabins, hotels, downtown area, and nightlife. North side is less developed and much quieter. They are easy to find and located next to the Observatory (another cool place to check out).
We wanted to go peddle boating in the lake, but the salesperson told us that it was pretty windy. I appreciated the honesty because I don’t think that most businesses would tell you this piece of information because it will dissuade people from using their business. However, Paddles and Pedals had so many different rental options that it’s hard not to find something to do!
Instead of peddle boating, we rented bikes instead and rode around the lake. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking (see photos). The bike trail is pretty flat (some small inclines) so bikers of all ages can enjoy themselves. The trail takes you close to the edge of the water and you can watch people fish/​kayak/​boat as you ride. They have helmets available but we decided not to get them because the bike trail does not require you to ride on the main road. Very safe path!
If you check-​in you get a 10% discount! Our final bill came out to be $ 9/​hour for each bike (normally $ 10/​hr).

We had a great time! They have a great location on the lake to launch from. We’ll definitely be back.

Paddles and Pedals was located on the North Shore of Big Bear Lake.
We tried both Kayaking and Cycling. It was a great place for biking, but perhaps too windy for kayaking.
We rented bikes to bike around the North Shore. And it was great! The bike path on the north shore, which ran from the Solar Observatory to MWD East Boat Ramp were absolutely scenic. The bike path ran through forests, grass meadows, and lake shore beaches. The north shore bike path is probably one of the most scenic bike path in Big Bear. The terrain is fairly flat, so kids can enjoy also.
After biking, my 8 years old daughter and I rented the kayak. We really had a hard time pushing the kayak against the wind. The waves were choppy because of the constant wind. It was not very pleasant because the windy situation. However, the north shoreline was very beautiful, not as crowded and developed as the south shore. It is great to explore the north shore by Kayaking in the morning.
If you plan to kayak, I would recommend kayaking in the south shore, in one of the many coves, where it is less windy.
Boulder Bay and Pleasure Point Marina had well protected coves, which were less windy. If you really want to explore the north shore by kayak, try to kayak in the morning, where it is less windy. The wind usually picks up in the afternoon.
North shore is beautiful and great for biking and kayaking in the morning.

A couple observations:
1. Easy to get to.
2. Great part of the lake to paddle on (in a cove and the wind does not pick up as much in the afternoon)
3. New docks are very helpful to get in and out of paddles and kayaks.

The guy who checked us in did a good job and really friendly even though his partner was sick that day and had to juggle the check in/​bike area as well as the water rentals.
You check in up front near an RV park market at a lil shack. Prices were average to the area although I would’ve hoped the SUP boards would’ve been cheaper. After checking in you drive to the parking area & it’s a bit confusing where to park exactly.
All in all it was average but a good spot.

Se. My previous review. Great location on the north shore of the lake, right across from the campgrounds and trails. Cool little stand at the entrance to Light House RV Park. There is a great little store there too for food and drinks. Owner Bryan is a great guy, knowledgable, great service! He wasn’t open today, snowed last weekend. Will open for the season ⁵⁄₃. Bikes and kayaks. Great quality on the rentals. We will be back up the hill and return to P and P. !

My kids wanted to try stand up paddle boarding. I saw this place, and they had a 15% off coupon on their web page, so I thought I would give it a try.
The place was a bit hard to find, and we drove by it the 1^st time, and almost the 2^nd time. It is his first year in business, and the sine wasn’t clear from the road. It is at the entrance to Lighthouse Trailer Resort & Marina.
The owner was friendly. He was down at the beach with another customer when we arrived. His cell number is on the window, so give him a call when you arrive. The equipment is new, as he is new in the market. I would go back the next time I am in big bear.

I’ve never paddle boarded before, so I was pretty excited to try it today. Paddles and Peddles were one of the few paddle board places listed on my Unilocal search, so my family and I chose to rent from them. Plus, Paddles and Peddles were conviniently right on the water and were fairly priced at $ 25/​hr. Check-​in on Unilocal,and receive a 10% off water activity.
The drive to Paddles and Peddles was short, but my family and I could not find the location, even with the assistance of GPS. Eventually the fam and I found out that Paddles and Peddles is a small booth off the side of the road — — look for office store or lighthouse and marina. The three of us rented two paddle boards and one kayak.
After filling out brief paperwork, we drove down the marina and parked our car near the water. A guy assisted us by giving us life jackets and paddles. The guy was also kind enough to carry and push our paddles out into the water, and described how to get on them. Caution, the shore is really rocky until reaching about shin-​deep, then it becomes really muddy, and with the help with the algae, even gooey. My sister shrieked, gross! and the guy assisting us said, Come on! People pay tons of money to put that stuff on their faces!
The wind was pretty strong that day, the guy told us to fight the wind and when we come back, allow the wind to carry us back to shore, otherwise we might not make it back to shore. Note, if you are paddle boarding here in Big Bear, these are my thoughts:
— Before going out into the middle of the lake, theres a ton of algae. Just saying.
— Beginners start paddling on their knees and then stand up when they are ready. The winds were so strong that it was too challenging to stand up most of the time. If you are a beginner, pick a different location where it’s less windy. Otherwise you will be paddling fiercely for five minutes against the wind, and you may move about six inches… like some people. *looks away*
— What also made paddle boarding challenging were all the boating that created waves. Beginners, you are warned.
— There’s no life guard on duty… BUT the super helpful dude who gave us our boards does stay out and watch from afar in his little lounge chair… making sure no one loses things. or drowns. I think.
After an hour of paddling, my family and I decided to return the boards. It was a good time, but if the weather was better, we would have stayed out longer.
Big Bear is really made for boating, as far as the water activities go.
I would recommend Paddles and Peddles, the staff were really friendly and were great in assisting us.

I was staying at a local hotel in Big Bear that offered a coupon for Paddles and Pedals and I couldn’t resist. I couldn’t remember the last time I had been in a canoe, and I don’t like regrets.
Off we went! It’s a little tricky to find, but use your GPS and your noggin and I think you’ll be OK. They have a collection of every water vehicle you can think of: single kayaks, double kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, and paddle boats. The rates are extremely reasonable and life jackets are bountiful.
My only note to fellow water-​goers: be careful. Every time a boat whooshed by on the lake, the waves almost capsized our canoe. I would recommend this only for those that are willing to accept that you may be in for an afternoon swim. Leave your iPhone’s in the car as there’s nowhere to store your belongings.

After spending a couple of hours researching for a rental place where a group of 6 girls could rent paddle boards/​kayaks I found Paddles and Pedals — they are seriously the best. Don’t be fooled: though it’s a tiny, unassuming office… They are incredibly professional and they have great prices! Just sign the release, go out on the paddle boat/​paddle board/​kayak then when you come back in, you pay for however long you were out. Easy and so fun! Their rentals are in great shape and you can rent hourly — unlike a few other places on the lake that make you go for a minimum of 2 – 3 hours. Paddles and Pedals is wonderful, I definitely recommend it!
