Unfortunately, there are not many places to stay in the border town of Blaine except for Semiahmoo Resort. We were stuck with this small crummy motel. What it needs is a good makeover with paint and new flooring, plus a thorough safety check. The AC unit looked unsafe(see photo) and the smoke alarm was dangling from the ceiling. The glass in the large picture frame was broken, could fall out on someone. We took off first thing in the morning. If you have no where else to stay, this is acceptable, but barely. I spoke to the owner about these things and his response was he is trying.

***warning stay away!**** This place is NOT a regular inexpensive motel. it is not anywhere near the quality of a motel 6. we were in the room for 10 minutes before leaving. we were so uncomfortable and put off we didn’t even complain, we just got a room at the Semiahmoo Resort(closest place that wasn’t a crack den) and were so happy to feel safe. To begin it looked«off» when we drove up. bikes and other non-motel objects were in windows and locked to railings. The curtains in all the room windows were different. Our door didn’t open, we had to get the front desk woman to help us(apparently you need to know the trick?). inside it smelled like someone had smoked in there for 10 years and they tried to cover it up with the strongest floral room deodorizer ever. The lamp shades still had the plastic on but we’re obviously 30 years old. the walls were paper thin. Everything felt dirty, not simply old, but dirty. I felt like we would have bed bugs if we stayed there. We didn’t even look in the bathroom. the lights hardly lit the room and one of them flickered. it felt very post-apocalyptic. The motel was $ 75, the resort 15 minutes down the road was $ 129. As far as value per dollar, you couldn’t have paid me $ 75 to stay at the bay side motor inn, I WOULD have paid $ 250 to stay at the resort if that is what they charged. I also would have slept in my car if I had to choose between the motel and the car. we thought it would save boarder crossing time to be nearby in the morning… worst idea ever! when I returned the key in the morning I explained why we hadn’t stayed and I asked if they would like to give us a refund. the nan at the desk seemed unconcerned and explained to me that people always compliment how nice the rooms are. I can’t imagine ANYONE saying that. I am also shocked that he was unconcerned that the motel was so dirty and scary that we paid AGAIN to stay another place. I have never even thought of doing such a thing before. truly a traumatizing experience.

Stayed here June 9th. Beautiful view of Drayton Bay. Had room 4. Huge room with King bed and kitchenette. Yes it’s an old building but it was clean and both the night and day clerks were friendly and gave me all the local info I wanted. Had no problems and it was a pleasant stay between Vancouver BC and Seattle. After check in I walked through the small town of Blaine and then we ate at the Chinese Restaurant behind the motel. The food there was excellent and we had the refrigerator, microwave, table and chairs to prepare and eat leftovers for an early lunch just before check out.

This is by far the most disgusting hotel I’ve ever had the misfortune of staying at. There is mold growing everywhere, if you have asthma or any other breathing issues, do not stay here. I had a headache the entire stay, when I checked out, my headache was gone. The staff just doesn’t care. The management changes room prices on a whim and if you argue with the price increase he moves you to a even grosser room upstairs, where they keep the weekly guests. The carpet is so filthy that you have to wear your shoes the entire time, the beds are delapitated & the electrical issues are scary, loose wires, plug ins and surges. I was told by management that if i wanted the room cleaner, that I should do it myself! The health department really needs to inspect this hotel, too many hazards and health code violations to list, it’s really a shame because it is in the perfect location for travelers. I had to give it one star because it was the only option from Unilocal. They don’t even deserve one star.

Don’t stay at this place!!! I did not appreciate paying $ 66.00 for a room and then having to fight tooth and nail with the office clerk for a space heater, because the room refused to heat up past 67 degrees Fahrenheit. She insisted that the room was warm and that somehow I didn’t deserve it to have it warm. The space heater she gave me died after a little while. The next day, I was given the full attitude treatment, when I simply wanted a receipt upon checkout.

What’s ridiculous is that they’re trying to threaten me with legal action if i dont take down the photos i posted. The photos validate everything ive said in my review. Judging by the condition of the hotel, i highly doubt that any action will be taken against me! The consumers must know the truth about this place, so i say the photos stay! ;-)

the ONLY reason there is another star is that the room was basically clean and the bed was quite comfortable. We arrived late afternoon to go to a party that evening. Lost reservation!!! And, she insisted the town was full(for a reason we couldn’t quite understand — either fishing or chemicals!) SO she«finds» a room and then charges us $ 70 for night! When we gently suggested this seemed exptrememly high for such a tawdry room AND lost reservation, she told us the room was ‘usually’ $ 76. She had given us discount! Open door and be overwhelmed by ‘stick-up’ odorizor(find that thing and dismantle) No towels. Yes, microwave, but no cups. Barely a ‘décor’ — barely furniture. this was just might be the most depressing room I have ever been in — even though across from a beautiful strait of Puget Sound.
