Semiahmoo Resort, Golf & Spa

Pretty area. I liked the bonfire on the beach. Our room was extremely small, right above the desk, no fireplace, view from the balcony of the parking lot and we could hear every word said at the desk and lobby.
The food was atrocious. We were there as a group retreat, our breakfast was powdered eggs and potatoes. No meat, no bread, no fruit.
Dinner was just as bad, no salad, very basic tacos, semi flavored ground beef, cheese and shredded lettuce. Very bland.
5 star resort? Not so much.

Stained sheets AND bedspread! Also there was a big brass bolt in the bed? Very strange — i can only guess that the prior people left it and the bed clothes were not changed. The pool also had quite a bit of bird poop in the deep end.
The food was good overall, although i recommend skipping the barbecue and ordering off the menu. The restaurant staff was very nice but the hotel and spa/​giftstore staff were not friendly, in fact my son felt like he was being picked on, and I have to agree. He is a good, respectful and rule-​abiding kid, and the fact that he felt that way was the worst part of the experience.
I’m giving two stars because the kitchen staff was wonderful and food was pretty good.

Just returned from 3 days, 2 nights. Everyone, and I mean everyone, was friendly and glad to be helpful. Our water-​view room was pleasant; the bed was wonderful. We enjoyed both restaurants. The seafood was good and the veggies were superb. Mary made our anniversary dinner at Pierside very special indeed, with charm, humor and enthusiasm. (The popcorn-​infused crème brûlée is spectacular.) Our spa treatments were beautifully done. Special mention to the remarkable young housekeeper, Brianne, who found my cash on the floor where it had fallen from my wallet and stacked it carefully on the television cabinet where I found it on my return from the spa. My husband plays golf here occasionally, and next time I plan to go along and say «drop me at the spa, please!»

My wife and I spent the last weekend, April 9^th-​10^th, for her birthday. The check in was at 400pm, it was easy and wrapped up quickly. We went to the room to leave our luggage, what a nice a spacious room we had!, more than I had expected. We reviewed the onsite amenities offered with some of the in room guides. With so much offered we could not get it all in one weekend. we walked the grounds, took in a beautiful sunset while dining at the Pierside Kitchen. I recommend the Pierside Kitchen. the service was exemplary, the food was great and you cannot beat the view.
We had one hiccup all weekend in the hotel service, Ravi was kind enough to correct and addressed it to our satisfaction. This is definitely a place we will visit again. I recommend anyone to give it a try, I do not think you will be disappointed. This is a keeper on our list.

I made a reservation for this coming weekend, and was pretty devastated when I woke up today with a splitting headache and flu-​like symptoms; I’m basically the walking dead. I knew that I wouldn’t be able to enjoy the trip feeling like this, but the reservation was just over 24 hours away. I called to see what arrangements could be made, just to see if I had any options. I spoke to Jessica, who was very accommodating and understanding. She helped me figure out another day that would work, and just like that, my reservations were changed. She was extremely helpful and a pleasure to speak to, and I don’t leave Unilocal reviews often but her service deserves recognition. Excellent customer service! So excited for our upcoming stay!

Nice room, but for the 2^nd time in a year, they mispriced the room, and now 10 days later, they charged us for a Spa visit ($ 220+) TWICE, once at Spa and once at Front desk.
They also added special couple room charge I did not request, and specified not necessary.
Then they responded twice, and failed to correct issue, and when I called back front desk phone wasn’t being answered, finally was and I was asked to be put on hold and then was dropped. I called back later, same thing, rang and the receptionist just put me directly on hold. 7pm at night.
I will never return, despite nice room. Customer Service and mistakes too much!

I would give this place negative stars if it were only possible but the front desk manager whose name is RAVI JADHAV treated me and my husband with the utmost disrespect on Saturday, February 6^th. We purchased an overnight stay via Living Social. Arrived around noon tried to check in and were told that the room wasn’t ready and that was all they said. So we went and sat around for a while. After an hour we checked and they said no it wasn’t ready yet and that housekeeping was still cleaning. So we kept going up to the front desk checked 4 times now and about 3 hours later we still did not have a room. The 4^th time they said housekeeping had to fix something in the room yet they couldn’t give us any more information. By the way, each time we saw other guests getting checked in, given their room keys and directions to their room… What is going on!!!
We decided to leave the premises and head to dinner and returned to the resort at around 5pm. By this time, we were so put off by this lousy service that we decided to ask for a refund. My husband and I are world travelers and we are very reasonable people but Mr Jadhav spoke very condescendingly to us nonetheless and made himself clear that he has no intentions of making things right for the customer. He made numerous arrogant comments such us «I travel a lot» basically insinuating that this is how hospitality business is run. He outright told us that he had already cancelled our room because he did not want to deal with us and kept on shooing us away. Wow…
In addition, we also feel as though as we have been discriminated against and harassed because we we used Living Social. With that said, I highly suggest that you stay away from this place. Please take a look at their overall rating, only 3 stars. We read all the other reviews and ironically, there have been similar cases. Thank you for reading this review.

Recent renovations and changes have increased the quality of this well appointed icon marina resort. Especially lovely in the summer with twinkling lights abundant, and an airy flow through courtyards that lead to stunning views of the ocean. Ease of spa and scrumptious dining (worth the drive for food alone) onsite add to the appeal. Pay the extra for a view room– why else are you staying? Revel in it. Great for large events too.

This was a spontaneous trip to start the New Year and it was the BEST decision ever! If you are from Seattle (or Vancouver BC) and are looking for a weekend spa escape with scrumptious food offerings, luxurious spa treatments, personal attentive service and a view room to die for, book a visit to this resort. Everything was perfect! This will turn into an annual visit, possibly progressing into a few times a year — visit folks, you’ll be glad that you did!
Side note: a glass of the Justin cab and the lamb burger w/​sweet potato fries were excellent. Upon cutting into the lamb burger, you are/​will be met with the wonderful aroma of perfectly prepared lamb; then take that first spice and harissa-​inspired bite to ensure a blissful palate. Evidently there is a new Chef in town and he is doing everything oh so right!
Great way to start the New Year and my birthday!

Location is awesome and remodel is nice. There is still room for improvement. Old wallpaper, dinged furniture and dated fixtures could use an upgrade. Rooms with ocean view is the way to go! Staff is friendly and helpful. Having an adjoining room was noisy as our neighbors had two rowdy kids. Parking, dining and public areas are nicely maintained. Semiahmoo is a good value for the resort type lodging with a PNW atmosphere.

I’ve come here previously for my spouse’s work Christmas party and stayed the night with excellent accommodations. Came again last night after the past renovations/​restaurant additions and it was marvelous. Our company party was in the seaview room I believe and it was beautiful. The hotel does an amazing job decorating for the holidays in the hotel itself and the private rooms with Christmas trees, garlands, and a big beautiful rectangular table adorned with garlands, gold star candles and reindeer figurines. The staff were accommodating and very professional with a full bar and bartender, along with table and buffer attendant. The food was very good and beautifully displayed as well with cold and hot appetizers, and a beautiful buffer with lots of options. The food was better than expected, very fresh and a step above traditional buffet spreads in presentation and options. We had a prime rib carving station with horseradish, beautifully cooked. King salmon with a creamy dill sauce which was perfectly medium/​medium rare. Chicken Marsala, and some unique sides: creamy southwest corn casserole, herb mixed sautéed vegetables, sweet potato bar, wedge salad with blue cheese, and mixed green salad with with balsamic vinaigrette. There was plenty of food and it was just a beautiful atmosphere. I highly recommend for a holiday party or special event!!!

Be aware that for your cell phone, you may accidentally roam because they serve both Canadian and U.S. Cell towers. The Canadian towers pretty much start right at the front door so I had to make sure I was not roaming. Their wifi is a little slow. This is a peaceful resort but don’t be fooled. It isn’t actually a beach area. You are right by the water but you can’t lounge around since it’s pretty much the ocean. You can actually see border patrol for the water. They supply some outdoor games like croquet. It conveniently has three different dining areas but overly priced and nothing special. Mediocre food. They sometimes have some live music which is nice. Unfortunately there isn’t really anywhere else to eat within a 10 mile radius that stays open late. In the summer time this seems like a great family vacation place though. If you want to unplug and relax this is the place for you but if you like to explore, this isn’t the place unless you drive to Bellingham or Canada.
I did appreciate that when they said their room had a view, it really did have one of the water which was nice and refreshing.

My wife and I celebrated a milestone anniversary at this resort and were very pleased during our two-​night stay. Our room was clean, spacious and nicely appointed; the on-​site restaurants (Packers and Pierside) provided excellent food and service. The grounds and facilities were on par with high-​end resorts, and all of the staff were absolute professionals. Many of the one-​star Unilocal reviews that I read were written during the busy summer season, which makes me happy that we chose to visit in November.

Since I live in Bellingham we often go here on a nice Sunny Day. It is really a great outing and you can see Whiterock Canada sitting at the bar. This place has gone through allot of remodeling and thank goodness since its such a great property. I am writing this review just on a day trip and of course hitting the Bar. If you like to play golf and then hit the 19^th hole thereafter this is a great place to unwind.

It was my fiancé’s 30^th birthday, so I decided why not surprise him with a night at Semiahmoo Resort. I worked there back in 2007, but he had never been and always wanted to check it out. I had also heard the resort had done a lot of upgrades, so I was intrigued to see them. I made my reservation online for a classic king room, decided we’d treat ourselves to the Summer BBQ they have on Fridays $ 30/​pp .
I received an email from the guest service manager Ravi Jadhav letting me know about all the things to do at the resort and if I needed any further assistance to please contact him. I responded to his email letting him know I was excited to celebrate my fiancé’s bday and also see the renovations Semiahmoo had done. He responded promptly stating that upon the resorts availability they would try to offer us a complimentary upgraded room type/​or a special amenity for occasion.
We headed to Semiahmoo Resort and I checked us in while the bday was in the car, I was wonderfully surprised to hear that we had been upgraded to a waterview king room, and that they wished us a happy birthday. We get to the room, and we were greeted by a tray with a bottle of chilled white wine, wine glasses, and chocolates. My fiancé was so surprised and felt so special. I felt special :)
The room was great, big beautiful view of the beach, the furniture and linens. All new. TV, phones, toiletries ., new. Semiahmoo has really done a great job updating a lot of the resort. Yes there are still some things that are «old» but to me it adds to the charm of a classic resort that’s lived a long life. We headed the summer BBQ outside Packers restaurant. There were many picnic tables on the grass near the live band. We were seated and greeted by a server. He was very friendly and attentive. We had brisket, king salmon, pulled pork, ribs, and sausage. We had several sides that the server happily brought us family style. We enjoyed the live band and watched the sunset. It was a great day. We ended up deciding to stay another night, that how great it was. I called the morning of checkout and the front desk was able to extend our stay and honor the original rate.
Above and beyond our expectations. We spent the day at the beach, enjoyed the view, and later made s’mores at the nightly bonfire Semiahmoo has setup for guests.
Perfect bday, perfect weekend.
There are so many other upgrades to the resort, you have to check them out for yourself !

A group of us stayed here for two days and I enjoyed it very much. If you have the opportunity to come, do not refuse it. If you are paying/​choosing a sea-​side resort, then there are things to consider.
The view and surrounding are beautiful. Rooms are clean and spacious. The amenities in the room are OK.
Some rooms has wifi signal so poor that devices cannot connect. Ask for the right rooms.
The foods are pretty good and drinks well made. But the services are not fast. This appears to be a kitchen capacity issue.
The massages are on the «light side» other than the «deep tissue» or Thai style.

The Semiahmoo experience was a game-​changer for our family.
We vacation to Lake Chelan every summer (from Seattle). Due to the wild fires we could not make it to Chelan, so we chose Semiahmoo.
We were amazed at multiple levels:
1. The rooms were very well kept, clean and had majestic views of the water and sunset!
2. The service at the front desk from checking-​in to requesting an item or two for our kids was first-​class.
3. The BBQ (FRI nights) and Clam Bake (Sat nights) was AWESOME! We have 2 kids (7,9) and they loved it, but more so, the safe beachfront atmosphere allowed mom and dad to enjoy a very nice dinner and drinks while the kids played safely on the beach and play area.
4. The food and service at Packers and Pierside was fab! EAT BREAKFAST AT PIERSIDE!!! Order the breakfast buffet and ask for a server named «Ken». Ken is a phenomenal server and so is the food, setting and views!
5. As we dined-​out on the courtyard, a nice gentleman greeted us to ask about our experience and to see if there was anything missing. Turns out he was Mark Andrew, the General Manager. He has recently taken over management and he told me about many of the of great things they’ve done and are in the process of completing to enhance the customer experience… Wow!
6. Lastly — the golf courses are brilliant!
This resort ***IS*** kid friendly, despite some suggestions we heard before booking our trip. Next time, I cannot wait to make it a romantic get-​a-​way with my bride!
Visit Semiahmoo. You will love it!

Upon checking in, I stood at the front desk without being greeted. Two women stood at their computers and continued to look down at them without acknowledging me. After I took my ID and credit card out, I was the one to initiate conversation by telling them I was there to check in.
I came here for a company trip and I work for a very generous company, so they always have the resort set up an open bar area for us for a few hours. Well, our open bar was supposed to go from 5 pm to 9 pm, but a lot of us finished dinner early, so they shut down our bar area and advised us to go out to the front where the BBQ area was and to let them know we were with so and so and we would be taken care of there. About 10 minutes later, my cousin and I went to the new bar location to order drinks. We told the bartender we were with the so and so group and he explained that he already knew and we were fine. As he was making my drink, some other guy comes out of no where and says right in front of us, «No, this is not for them.» Excuse me? The bartender then tried to speak up for us and said, «No, they’re with the group that –» and rudely, the 2^nd guy cut him off and told HiM no. WTF? Then I tried to say something and he cut me off and asked who we were with. My cousin told them the name we were told to use and then he said, «No, who did you come here with?» After telling him our company’s name, he quickly apologized and stated, «Oh, I’m so sorry. We should have nicer cups for you!» WHAT A DICK!
The 3^rd AND 4^th incidents are connected, which makes it 10x funnier, in a pathetic way. As I mentioned earlier, our group left our dinner area and made our way out front. My boss had friends in the patio area outside of the restaurant who were seated in the area with couches around the fire and they invited our group. As we’re all enjoying our time together, two rent-​a-​cops come over and without asking any questions, tell us we absolutely cannot bring outside alcohol onto the resort and if we want to drink, we need to buy it from there. My boss explained that we were having dinner over in the banquet hall and that we brought the bottle of wine from there. He apparently wasn’t having it and didn’t believe us, so he took the bottle to check. Before doing the check, he took 3 different peoples room numbers. I have no idea why, but I’m sure he assumed some of us didn’t belong. He then came back 10 minutes later and told us he was extremely sorry, he was wrong and we were telling the truth (no shit), and offered us another bottle on the house. I assume, just like the a-​hole from the bar, he found out what group we were with after checking our room numbers and knew how much money our company just brought to them this weekend.
Less than an hour later, a manager then approached us. She explained that due to the way their seating arrangements work, we can’t just sit anywhere and there was a list of people who were waiting. First off, we had been seated there for 2 hours and suddenly someone says we stole their spot? We had to explain that we were with the people who had their name on the list to begin with and they let us sit there with them. Of course, this had to be explained because around here, they «shoot first and ask questions later.» After having to tell the manager that we had every right to sit there, she apologized and took off.
We went back to the restaurant for lunch since it was the only thing open. My cousin’s boyfriend asked for a table outside but they told us there weren’t any available, so that we could be placed on the list and they could place us inside. While seated inside, the same hostess came by to let us know a table was available and we would be able to sit outside; he escorted us outside to our new table. About 10 minutes later, our food finally came out. Not even 2 bites in and the same waitress from the night before who was involved in trying to kick us out of our seat CAME BACK TO DO IT A 2ND TIME ON A BRAND NEW DAY! Once again, nothing was asked ahead of time such as, «Did someone seat you here?» Right away she told us that the way the seating works is that we need to be placed on a list to get outside seating, so that we would need to go back inside since someone else was waiting for our table. I then told her, «It was your hostess who sat us out here. We were on the list.» Her response? «Oh, well that’s a problem then. I’ll have to have a talk with him.» First off, can we get an apology? Secondly, HOW UNPROFESSIONAL. It isn’t our business that you need to have a talk with him, nor that it’s a problem.
Semiahmoo, you are truly a JOKE. Your lack of professionalism, blatantly obvious racism from your careless staff, and snooty attitudes is definitely not a way to get returning business or run a business, period. I have been completely appalled all weekend long and it’s amazing how your staff could ruin such a potentially beautiful vacation so easily. Thank you!

We got a Groupon deal to stay at Semiahmoo, which was nice because it is a bit pricy. It is very quiet and relaxing with great views. They provided a nice campfire on the beach with s’mores where we had an opportunity to meet other visitors.

Great location. Horrible service. The rate is reasonable because they can’t provide adequate service on any front. Go to Suncadia if you’re truly looking for a 5 star experience. These guys are clowns.

Stayed here during Memorial Day weekend in a water view room. The view from our room was beautiful and I liked the complimentary fireplace service. The bed was very comfortable.
However, the service of the hostesses at the two restaurants needs improvement. We had dinner at Packers and the buffet at Pierside Kitchen for breakfast the next morning. The two share the same entrance as well as their hostesses. Both times, we stood in front of the hostess and waited for her to acknowledge us when she was done with whatever she was doing. No eye contact and not a smile. When we had breakfast the next day, we asked if there were eggs and were told, «we don’t do eggs» by one of the girls at the front. Another customer heard it and told us eggs were on the other side of the buffet. The service of the wait staff was great though. The lack of customer service of the hostesses was a pity, for it could’ve been a charming weekend getaway.

We have visited Semiahmoo a few times prior to its new ownership and have always loved the location, but the resort needed a facelift. So, we thought we’d give it try over Memorial Weekend. We stayed for 3 nights in the Waterview Executive Suite with our 4-​legged kids. The resort looks so much brighter and although construction was still in full swing at their conference area, the restaurants and most areas have been given that much-​needed refresh. The suite was spacious with a king bed, pullout sofa, desk, fireplace, dining table and separate vanity and tub/​shower/​toilet. Lots of cabinetry to hide the 2 TVs, Keurig coffee maker and refrigerator (which we didn’t find until the day we checked out). Of course, we had the gorgeous views of the bay and the lawn below. They provide you with a doggie bed (a bit worn) and bags for cleanup when you bring your pets. During our stay, we had spa treatments (massage from Rachel was wonderful), used the hot tub and swam in the heated pool. We also joined the Friday Night BBQ with a country singer and the Clam Bake on Saturday night with a blues band. Food has improved tremendously and we recommend the Seafood Chowder and Seafood Nachos from Packers.
There was a bit of mix up on our reservation when we arrived, but was quickly resolved by Ravi and Kat at the front desk. Overall, the resort is a nice weekend getaway. Bear in mind that the location is a bit isolated and there are only two restaurants at the resort (2 more at each golf course) so you will need to drive at least 15 miles to the nearest town center if you are looking for more options.

Considering the location and the scenery, I expected more from this resort. Especially since they’re affiliated with a golf course. The door needed a little jiggling before the key card would work. The shower system is pretty outdated. Hint: Pull the knob out and then turn. The plus was that the water pressure was great. That’s probably one of my pet peeves about hotels. The complimentary soap is a bar just as an FYI for all you shower gel lovers.
I did like having a Keurig in the room however, it was limited to only coffee. Decaf and regular. And while I am a coffee drinker, having tea options would be great. Closet is fairly spacious with an ironing board and hair dryer. No safe unless I completely missed it. Beds were pretty comfortable. Just the right amount of soft. The TV is a little outdated and the remote was a little glitchy. The window coverings are wood shutters so if you’re a light sleeper, I suggest bringing a mask. They have an extra outlet box with USB ports so you’re not rummaging around and unplugging the clock just for an outlet.
I was able to take advantage of the fitness center. Just a quick jaunt through the driveway and you hit the spa. You take a flight of stairs and immediately you’re transported to 1980. There’s a track that encompasses the machines and cardio equipment. Free weights are tucked in a corner with a couple of benches which made it hard when 3 or more people were trying to use them. They have kettlebells and if you walk to the adjoining side, there’s a small dance studio. A slightly weird layout but it does the job when you’re vacationing.
Overall a pretty nice place. I would love to see it during the summer and spring time when there aren’t torrential downpours.

This place is a nice little getaway less than 2 hours from Seattle. I usually call to confirm my reservation the night before but didn’t and when I got there, they didn’t have the reservation on file. Thankfully the place wasn’t crowded at all so they were able to get us a room and the lady was nice enough to upgrade our room which was a nice treat.
The room was nice and quiet and you could walk right out to the beach from the back door. The bed and pillows were soft and plush. The heated 80 degree outdoor pool and indoor jacuzzi was a nice treat in the cold weather. They could use some signs in the front and inside of the resort because it was hard to know where everything was located. I will definitely have to try this place in the summer for their outdoor sand volleyball and bonfire as well as their long trails to walk or bike.
